SUBJECT: MEDICAL
PMC is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life
sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of
Medicine (NIH/NLM).
HOW DO YOU SEARCH FOR PERIODICAL ARTICLES IN THIS DATABASE?
I don’t think there are any periodical articles in this database, it is all medical journals from
people and their studies and research.
DOES THE DATABASE USE BOOLEAN OPERATORS? ARE THERE ANY OTHER MEANS
OF SEARCHING?
PubMed does use Boolean operators. It is pretty basic to where it is easy to use but it also doesn’t have that many other means of searching. You can’t narrow down your topic down as much as you can on EBSCOhost.
WHAT SETS PUBMED APART?
I think PubMed will come in handy because of the scientific research it has done and because my topic has a lot to do with medical stuff. As for which database I like the best when comparing this with EBSCO I would have to choose EBSCO. I have been using EBSCO since I was a freshman in college and it was the first database I learned to kind of use. EBSCO just has a lot more ways to narrow your search options and make is easier on you how to find your topic.
