Chinawillneed5,260newcommercialairplanes,worthuS$670billion,inthenext20years,saidtheSeattlebasedmanufacturer,withmorethan75%ofthedemandfromgrowthratherthanreplacements.

“BoeingexpectsChinatogrowatanannualaveragerateof8.9%overthenext20years,notonlybecausemarketdemandisgrowing,butbecauseChinesecarriershavethecapabilityandresourcestocompeteinthetoughlong-haulinternationalmarket,”thecompanysaid.

AIRBuSforecaststhatGreaterChina–themarketservedmostintenselybyOrient AviationandOrient Aviation China–willaccountformorethan35%ofallnewaircraftdeliveries,anaverageof14%higherthantheairlinemarketsfornewaircraftintheu.S.(21%)andEurope(21%).

Chinawillovertaketheu.S.asthenumberonedomesticairlinepassengermarketintheworld,followedbyIndiainthecomingdecades.TheAsia-Pacificregionwillacquire46%ofnewairlinersinthetwinaislesector(250-400seats),34%ofthesingleaislemarketandbethelargestcustomerbymarketshareoftheverylargeairlinesector(400seatsorabove),AirbuspredictedinSeptember.
