The main event will be at least three productions from member theatres. On tap as of press time is Community Players (Beatrice) with “Completely Hollywood (Abridged),” The Lofte Community Theatre (Manly) with “These Shining Lives,” and Way Out West Community Theatre (Sidney) with “Boise, Idaho.” Production registration deadline is Jan. 30. That means there is still time to get your show registered if you just haven’t gotten around to it yet, but don’t delay anymore! After each performance a panel of three adjudicators will critique the productions in front of the audience. These critique sessions often prove very interesting. Watching the shows and hearing the critiques provides a wonderful opportunity for you to learn about what works and what doesn’t. These are tips you can immediately take back to your own theatre and make your shows even better. Plus, who doesn’t want to spend an entire day watching shows? One of these productions will be selected by the adjudicators to represent Nebraska at the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) Regional Festival in Newton, Iowa, April 24-25. From there a show will be selected to participate in the National Festival June 23-28 in Grand Rapids, MI. But wait there’s more! Not only do you get at least three great shows, there will also be a series of workshops presented Saturday morning. With topics ranging from board development to costumes there will be something that everyone can learn. Oh, but there’s even more! Friday and Saturday nights feature fun socials. Not only will this be a great time to kick back and relax with a little fun and silliness, but terrific networking opportunities. Those little side conversations and connections made at a festival like this can more often than not be the biggest learning tool of all. So stop just thinking about coming to Festival, send in your registration NOW. New this year you can even go online and register so there’s really no excuse at all not to register. Come on already!
