I am here today to share my personal encounter for bullying and how I dealt with peer pressure while growing up. People who know me yesterday and even my fans would probably surprised to know I was bullied many times when I am a child and teenager. It wasn’t brutal if I was never harmed physically except on a few occasions but it wasn’t pleasant either. My first experience being bullied was when I was in year two. I was bullied by a girl in my class. He would keep saying hurtful things to me until I smile and he would threaten me until I was too afraid to tell our teacher. My second experience was in form one. I was a timid girl and did not know who to make friends. When a girl asks me once to play with her and her friends, I was overjoyed. As you might have guessed, I ended up being bullied by her. She would took my handwritten notes and storybooks that she likes. She would also get angry if I didn’t do whatever she told me to, and pinch me and pull my hair if I did someone that didn’t please her. It was traumatizing experience! The thing is, I was too scared to speak up and fight back. My mother was angry at her for bullying me and angry at me for not fighting back. You see, I am more afraid of losing a friend that I let her do whatever she wanted. Now I tell myself, ‘So,what?’ when something said that they wouldn’t want to be friends with me anymore. They can do whatever they like and I don’t need them at all. That was my moment of empowerment. Whatever my age, you shouldn’t have to feel pressured or bullied to act in a certain manner to be accepted. Just be yourself and real friends would accept you for who you are.
