DESCRIPTION

A 3-cycle Experiential WorkshopAn important factor for the success of any theatrical performance lies in the understanding of the psychological connection between the Actor (actual person) and the Role (fictional person) he has to perform.Utilizing methods from the latest developments in psychotherapy and by working with the Artists on a personal and psychological level, the Workshop explores in great depth: the emotional structure of the Role the emotions that the Role feels in every scene, as prescribed by the play’s script the difference between the emotional structure of the Role and that of the Actor the pattern of emotions that the Role triggers in the Actor, not only during rehearsals but on-stage as wellAll these parameters become crystal clear by tracking down the emotional pattern of the Role, so that the Actor understands completely what he has to deliver on-stage. The Workshop extends over a period of one year and is divided in three cycles. Each cycle comprises of 40 hours (net) of experiential and interactive exercises, spreading over the course of five days. An interactive Q&A session, during the first day of the first cycle, between the Participants and the Instructor, builds the necessary theoretical background needed for the experiential part of the Workshop. This experiential part is the nucleus of the Workshop. Participants get to perform Roles from actual plays and thus become fully conscious of the different emotions they experience while acting. The feedback they receive enables them to test immediately if their performance delivered the Role’s “proper” emotions, as dictated by the script. The Workshop is intended for both Actors and Directors. After the successful completion of all three cycles, Actors will be able to leave their unconscious feelings backstage and bring on stage just the Role and nothing more, whereas Directors will have the knowledge to teach and guide the Actors of their plays towards this goal.
