Usual usage in the Bible: verily, surely, indeed, truly, so be it.

Numbers 5:22 -- May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells and your thigh wastes away. " " 'Then the woman is to say, "Amen. So be it."

To grant affirmation to significant doctrine

Deuteronomy 27:16-26 – (26) "Cursed is the man who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

Psalm 41:13 -- Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.

1 Kings 1:36 -- Benaiah son of Jehoiada answered the king, "Amen! May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, so declare it.

Synoptic gospels record Jesus using Amen 54 times.

John records it 25 times, each a doubled amen.

John 1:51-- He then added, "I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

2 Corinthians 1:20 -- For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Isaiah 65:16 -- Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth; he who takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.

Revelation 3:14 -- To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation.

Revelation 22:21 -- The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.
