Missionaries Of Mercy

Paul’s back! After last week’s “violent abuse,” opponents organized a lynch mob that beat Paul nearly to death. But call Paul the “energizing evangelist,” transforming deadly cruelty into life-giving zeal. Paul’s past courage should inspire our commitment; Revelation’s future “new heaven, new earth” should inspire our optimism. But Revelation’s present assurance, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race,” should challenge us to become “missionaries of mercy.” Because Pope Francis declared that the Church’s credibility is completely dependent on our showing unconditional mercy. Mercy, said Francis, makes the Church, the world, and everyone young again, reawakened to life’s noblest virtues. Fittingly, in today’s Gospel Jesus reinforces that theme: “This is how all will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Not One Iota

Mysteriously, the revolutionary newness of Jesus flows out of his profound obedience to fixed tradition to God’s law. In the fifth chapter of Matthew, Jesus promises that He will destroy “not one iota,” not the smallest part of the Hebrew law. Instead, Jesus says, he has come to “fulfill” the law. With his perfect obedience to God’s plan, Jesus fulfills the letter of the law. At the same time, He demonstrates the spirit of the law by freely giving His life for us, out of loving concern for our eternal well-being. As St. Paul tells the Romans, “Love is the fulfillment of the law.” God has given us rules to protect us and help us order our lives properly, but Jesus shows us that love makes the law all but unnecessary. A mother who loves her children has no need to remind herself of the command-ment “Thou shall not kill.” Because of her loving instinct to nurture her children, she not only follows the Fifth Command-ment, but transcends it, fulfilling it by wanting to go further than it demands. She not only avoids murder, she protects and sustains life. Jesus’ revolution of love challenges us to meet each moment, each person, as a new opportunity to sacrifice ourselves in love, doing more than the law requires.

Dear brothers and sisters,

May the good Father continue to grant you all good and many joys in this experience of the Easter season - pass this joy to family and friends.

Currently in the world, we classify countries in blocks, rich countries and poor countries, and we see in our cities also areas of people who live well with their purchasing power and areas of people with few resources, and we seem to become resigned to looking at the world in this way.

As a matter of fact, there are very beautiful and elegant parish-es and others very poor and simple, although what is celebrated in one is no different from the other because there is a beautiful message, which maybe should transform those environments in a determined way. The Word of God does not want to come to us to leave us a beautiful message, but to make a call to action of life that transforms our society, and takes us out of that way of seeing poverty and wealth in a natural way, as well as its consequences, insecurity, violence, disbelief, selfishness, greed and all the consequences of human misery. The baptized are called to the action of forming a different society, a society where they fight for a better life, relieving pain and physical and spiritual poverty; a society of the baptized should be known for their desire to live, and expect a favorable change in each human being that is reflected in constantly fighting against all forms of injustice.

The Church invites us to be an important part of a change at the family level in such a way that this coexistence reflects a new wind in society that offers a novelty in daily life. The disciples of Jesus did not preach simply to bring a speech to the world - it was a message that was proclaimed, and continues to be proclaimed today, until the Word of God reaches the deepest part of the heart of each human being and each person returns to God, and they always came back with the news that they had joy. Do you think that this can also happen in our homes? That we can go back every day announcing to the family that we have done good and that we have done things according to the love of God? (Acts 14: 21-27)

May the world recognize that we are members of the Church and followers of Jesus, not by scandalizing but by bringing forward and very present the commandment of love in all our actions, that we have not become accustomed to seeing our brothers and ourselves sunk in misery and that the love of God calls us to live doing good with His grace (John 13: 31-35).

any participation in the Spirit, any compassion and mercy,

complete my joy by being of the same mind, with the same love,

united in heart, thinking one thing. (Philippians 2:1-2)

What is a fitting blessing for a community? "Blessed are those who are persecuted for doing God's will" (Mt 5:10). Yes, it is true--especially in those places where persecutions are systematically planned and carried out. Such persecutions bring redemption because they place you in an historic role within the Church's mission to change the world.

After the Lord performed a miracle for someone, He usually ordered that person to tell no one. There are many people who have never performed a miracle, yet tell everyone how charitable they are.

Anyone who makes false accusations against another person, reviles or stirs up hatred and opposition against that person--for whatever reason-- cannot conceal his or her contradiction of the Gospel, because "God is love" (1Jn 4:8).

Bài đọc 1: Cv 14:20-26 Trong bài đọc, thánh Phaolô và ông Barnaba tường tr ình việc các ngài hy sinh chịu khó rao giảng Chúa khắp nơi, nhất là nơi dân ngoại. Nhờ đó nhiều người trở lại tin Chúa. Bài đọc 2: Kh 21:1-5 Trong thị kiến sau đây, thánh Gioan thấy cảnh huy hoàng của thành Giêrusalem trên trời là thiên đàng vĩnh cửu, nơi đó không còn đau khổ chết chóc, vì mọi người đều được hưởng vinh quang Thiên Chúa. Tin Mừng: Ga 13:31-33 Chúa Giêsu biết giờ Người sắp chịu chết và sống lại vinh hiển. Người dạy chúng ta yêu thương nhau như Người thương yêu chúng ta, để xứng đáng làm môn đệ Người.

Nguyện xin Thiên Chúa Cha toàn năng vẫn luôn ban đổ tràn đầy hoan lạc, hạnh phúc xuống cùng quý vị trong mùa Phục Sinh này và cùng chuyển trao đến toàn thể gia đình và bạn hửu.

Trên thế giới hiện nay, chúng ta cùng thể hiện là một đoàn chiên, từ những quốc gia thịnh vượng cho đến các quốc gia nghèo khó. Có những thành phố xa hoa tràn đầy dư vật và đồng thời cũng có những thành phố rất bị thiếu thốn những nguồn lợi về cơm ăn, áo mặc. Chúng ta có vẻ như đã quen thuộc và cam chịu với sự an bày là nơi nghèo thì hẳn phải nghèo và nơi giàu thì ắt được giàu.

Cũng trong thực tại, có những giáo xứ rất sang trọng, phú quý và ngược lại có những giáo xứ rất thô sơ, bình dị. Cho dù không có gì khác biệt trong việc cử hành truyền rao thông điệp Lời Chúa ở mỗi nơi, vì mọi nơi đều có cùng một thông điệp, là điều mà để có thể thay đỗi những hoàn cảnh khó nghèo đó trong một đường hướng xác định. Nhưng Lời của Chúa không chỉ đơn thuần đến và để lại cho chúng ta là một thông điệp văn hoa, mỹ lệ. Nhưng là Lời kêu gọi chúng ta sự thực hành cụ thể để chuyển đỗi xã hội, thế giới chúng ta đang sống, cất đi nơi chúng ta cái nhìn vốn đã trở thành tự nhiên về các xứ nghèo và các xứ giàu. Và tầm quan trọng về sự không an bình, bạo động, hoài nghi, ích kỹ, tham lam, tất cả hậu quả đến từ sự khổ đau của thân phận con người. Bí tích Thanh Tẩy được gọi như là một sự chuyển đỗi của một xã hội nơi mà người ta đang không ngừng tranh đấu cho một cuộc đời tốt đẹp hơn, cắt giảm sự khổ đau về thể chất cũng như tinh thần. Bí tích Thanh Tẩy nên được thông hiểu như là sự mong muốn được sống và sự khao khát một triển vọng tốt đẹp hơn cho sự tranh đấu tìm kiếm công bằng xã hội.

Hội Thánh Chúa mời gọi chúng ta tham dự và trở nên một thành phần trọng yếu; từ một trình độ, vị trí, mức ngang nhau trở nên một luồng gió mới cùng mang lại, dâng tặng cho xã hội đương thời một cuộc sống cao trọng hơn.

Các Thánh Tông Đồ không chỉ đơn thuần mang vào thế giới này một bài giảng về Lời của Chúa, nhưng đó còn là một thông điệp đã và vẫn còn đang được tiếp tục loan truyền, suy tôn cho đến hôm nay, cho đến khi Lời Của Chúa thấm sâu tận đáy lòng người và mang người ấy trở về cùng Thiên Chúa cùng với niềm vui hoan lạc. Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em có từng nghĩ rằng điều hạnh phúc này cũng có thể xảy đến trong chính mái ấm gia đình của mình. Khi chúng ta trở lại chia sẽ với gia đình rằng chúng ta đã làm những việc xứng đáng và những việc rất xứng đáng theo tình yêu của Chúa. Acts 14,21-27.

Xin được Thiên Chúa tỏ tường rằng chúng ta là những thành phần trong Hội Thánh và là môn đệ của Đức Ki-tô. Không phải là những xúc phạm mà là những trân trọng làm theo những giới răn tình yêu thể hiện trong mỗi hành động của chúng ta. Như chúng ta không trở thành thói quen thường lệ nhìn thấy người anh em và chính chúng ta đắm mình trong đau khổ mà là Tình Yêu Thiên Chúa kêu gọi chúng ta sống và thực hành những việc làm xứng đáng với Hồng Ân Ngài. Gn 13 31-35

Ban Xã Hội: Nếu ai biết quý cao niên hoặc người tàn tật trong giáo xứ cần sửa chữa nhà, cần giúp dọn dẹp nhà cửa hoặc cần các hỗ trợ khác, xin vui lòng gọi cho văn phòng giáo xứ để Ban Xã Hội sẽ liên lạc tới giúp người đó. Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể và Giáo Lý Việt Ngữ: Đơn GLVN cho niên khóa 2019-2020 đã được phát ra vào ngày 13 tháng 4, 2019 vừa qua. Phụ huynh nào cần đơn có thể vào website của GX để download hoặc đến văn phòng Giáo Lý trong Trung Tâm Mục Vụ vào mỗi thứ 6 của tháng 5 từ 9:30 am đến 2:00 pm để lấy đơn ghi danh. Kêu gọi Thầy Cô - Để giúp cho các em nhỏ của Giáo Xứ hiểu biết thêm về Kinh Thánh và Văn Hóa Việt, xin mời quý Anh Chị có tinh thần yêu thích phục vụ các em nhỏ (Trẻ) của Giáo Xứ, xin đến với chương Trình GLVN tại St. Elizabeth. đóng góp cho chương trình của giáo xứ được thành công.

Kinh Cầu Cho Ơn Gọi (Đức thánh cha Phaolô VI, 1964)

Lạy Chúa Giê-su là Vị Mục Tử đích thực, là Đấng chăn dắt các tâm hồn, Chúa đã chọn các Tông Đồ theo nghề chài lưới người, và không ngừng lôi cuốn các bạn trẻ có tâm hồn sốt sắng và quảng đại, để biến họ nên môn đệ Chúa, và thừa tác viên của Hội Thánh; xin rèn luyện con người họ, biết chia sẻ nỗi khát khao của Chúa, trong sứ vụ cứu độ phổ quát mà Chúa đã hoàn tất, qua cái chết hồng phúc trên Thập giá, và hằng ngày tái diễn nơi Hy Tế Bàn Thờ. Lạy Chúa là Vị Thượng Tế hằng song, để chuyển cầu cho nhân loại chúng con, xin mở ra cho người trẻ chân trời của Thế giới hôm nay, nơi đang vang lên lời cầu nguyện chân thành của biết bao anh chị em, để họ được ánh sáng chân lý soi dẫn, và có tâm hồn nồng cháy lửa mến yêu mà quảng đại đáp lại tiếng Chúa kêu gọi: tiếp nối sứ vụ cứu thế và xây dựng Hội Thánh là Thân Thể huyền nhiệm của Chúa; xin cho họ trở nên “muối đất và ánh sáng trần gian” làm dấu chỉ Nước Thiên Chúa hiện diện ngay ở đời này, hầu tôn vinh Danh Chúa và hướng tới lợi ích mọi người. Lạy Chúa, xin cho lời đáp trả ơn gọi, cũng trải rộng đến các thiếu nữ có tâm hồn thanh khiết và đầy sức sống, để họ biết khao khát đời sống trọn lành theo Phúc Âm, và thực hiện tinh thần phục vụ Hội Thánh một cách cụ thể nơi các anh em mình, là những con người cần đến sự trợ giúp và đức ái của họ. Chúng con cầu xin, vì danh Đức Giêsu Kitô Chúa chúng con. Amen

Yêu thương nhau đó là giới răn của Chúa. Nhưng không phải yêu thương theo kiểu phàm trần. Người đời thường chỉ yêu những ai yêu mình, có lợi cho mình, theo bản tính ích kỷ của mình. Thiên Chúa muốn các môn đệ của Người phải yêu như như Thiên Chúa đã yêu là phải yêu thương cả những người ghét mình, những người làm hại mình, những người khó thương khó ưa. Yêu như Thiên Chúa là phải không ngừng tha thứ, làm hoà với nhau.

Estimados hermanos y hermanas:

Que el Padre bueno les siga concediendo todo bien y muchas alegrías en esta vivencia del tiempo pascual, así pasen esta alegría a familiares y amigos.

Actualmente en el mundo los países los clasificamos en bloques, de países ricos y países pobres, y miramos en nuestras ciudades también zonas de personas que viven bien por su poder adquisitivo y zonas de gente de pocos recursos, y parece que nos acostumbramos a mirar el mundo de esta manera y de una forma resignada.

Hay incluso parroquias muy bonitas y elegantes y otras muy pobres y sencillas, aunque lo que se celebra en cada una es diferente porque hay un mensaje bello, que tal vez debiera transformar esos ambientes de manera decidida. La Palabra de Dios no quiere venir a nosotros para dejarnos un mensaje bonito, sino para hacer un llamado a la acción de vida que transforme nuestra sociedad y nos saque de ese modo de ver la pobreza y riqueza de manera natural, así como sus consecuen-cias, inseguridad, violencia, incredulidad, egoísmo, avaricia y todas las secuelas de la miseria humana.

Los bautizados son llamados a la acción de formar una sociedad diferente donde se lucha por una vida mejor, alivian-do el dolor y la pobreza física y espiritual, la sociedad de los bautizados deben ser conocidos por sus ganas de vivir y esperar un cambio favorable en cada ser humano que se refleje en luchar constantemente contra toda forma de injusticia.

La iglesia nos invita a ser parte importante de un cambio a nivel familiar de tal modo que esa convivencia refleje en la sociedad un viento nuevo que ofrece una novedad en la vida diaria. Los discípulos de Jesús no predicaron simplemente para llevar un discurso al mundo, sino que era un mensaje que hasta nuestros días se sigue proclamando hasta que la Palabra de Dios haga nido en cada ser humano y cada persona vuelva a Dios, y siempre volvieron con novedades que contaban con alegría, ¿créen ustedes que esto puede pasar también en nuestros hogares? ¿Qué podemos regresar cada día anuncian-do a la familia que hemos hecho el bien y que hemos hecho las cosas conforme al amor de Dios? (Hechos 14:21-27)

Que el mundo nos reconozca que somos miembros de la Iglesia y seguidores de Jesús, no por escandalizar sino por llevar delante y muy presente el mandamiento del amor en todas nuestras acciones, que no nos hemos acostumbrado a ver a nuestros hermanos y nosotros mismos hundidos en la miseria y que el amor de Dios nos llama a vivir haciendo el bien con su gracia. (Juan 13: 31-35)

Misioneros de Misericordia

¡Regresó Pablo! Después del “violento abuso” de la semana pasada, los oponentes organizaron una muchedumbre de linchamiento que golpeó casi hasta la muerte a Pablo. Sin embargo, llama Pablo el “evangelista energizante”, transfor-mando la crueldad mortal en un fervor vivificante. El valor pasado de Pablo debe inspirarnos a nuestro compromiso; el Apocalipsis futuro “nuevo cielo, nueva tierra” debe inspirar nuestro optimismo. Pero el Apocalipsis presente nos asegura: “Esta es la morada de Dios entre los hombres”, debe desafiar-nos a hacernos “misioneros de misericordia”. Ya que el Papa Francisco declaró que la credibilidad de la Iglesia está com-pletamente dependiendo de nuestra muestra incondicional de misericordia. La misericordia, como dice Francisco, hace la Iglesia, el mundo y a cada uno joven otra vez, despertando a las virtudes más nobles de la vida. De manera apropiada, en el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús refuerza ese tema: “Así sabrán todos que ustedes son mis discípulos, si se aman unos a los otros”. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Tradiciones de Nuestra Fe

El primer día de mayo es reconocido como el día mundial del trabajo y conmemora seis mártires de Chicago, quienes fueron fusilados en 1886 cuando la policía trató de impedir una pelea campal durante una huelga de obreros. Cu-riosamente esta fecha no es reconocida por los Estados Unidos pero sí por muchos países latinoamericanos. En 1954, el Papa Pío XII apoyó los derechos del obrero incluyendo a san José Obrero en el calendario cristiano. Esta fiesta celebra y recuer-da la doctrina social de la Iglesia católica, una doctrina que insiste que: “El mensaje cristiano no aparta a las personas de la edificación del mundo, ni les lleva a despreocuparse del bien de sus semejantes, sino que les impone esta colaboración como un deber” (Gaudium et Spes 34). Es justo conmemorar a san José como obrero en el día mundial del trabajado, porque este santo varón nos recuer-da que al trabajar uno colabora con Dios en la creación conti-nua del mundo y de la humanidad. San Bernardino de Siena

Nació cerca de Siena en Italia en el año 1380. Su padre era gobernador. El niño quedó huérfano de padre y madre a los siete años. Dos tías se encargaron de su educación y lograron formarlo lo mejor posible en ciencias religiosas y darle una educación muy completa. Sus estudios de bachillerato los hizo con tal dedicación que obtuvo las mejores notas.

San Bernardino fue el más famoso predicador del 1400 y sus sermones sirvieron de modelos de predicación para muchos oradores en los siglos siguientes.

En 1444, mientras viajaba por los pueblos predicando, con muy poca salud pero con un inmenso entusiasmo, se sintió muy débil y al llegar al convento de los franciscanos en Aquila, murió santamente el 20 de mayo.
