The basic activities related to the PS-90A engine and modifications thereof were focused on:�provision for serial production, overhaul and operation

of the engines that power IL-96-300/400T, Tu-204, Tu-214, and modifications of IL-76TD-90; �troubleshooting and increase of life parameters of the

main parts and components;�improvement of noise and emission parameters to meet

current and upcoming ICAO noise and emission standards;�continuation of development of the PS-90A2 engine

that is a modification of the PS-90A with improved technical parameters and performance.

In 2008, fifty-six long- and mid-haul aircraft were in regular operation, among them:�eighteen IL-96-300 long-haul wide body passenger

aircraft;�twenty-three Tu-204 aircraft including mid-haul

passenger aircrafts and cargo commercial aircraft of different modifications;�eleven Tu-214 mid-haul passenger aircraft;�four IL-76TD-90 commercial cargo aircraft.

The annual flight time of the PS-90A engine constituted 274 804 hours and the total flight time went beyond 2 million hours mark and achieved 2 025 427 hours.

In 2008, aircraft manufacturers made nine aircraft with power-plants based on the PS-90A and modifications thereof to the order of Russian and foreign companies:�seven Tu-204 mid-haul passenger aircraft to the orders

of Red Wings, Cubana de Aviasion S.A. and Vladivostok Avia OJSC;�Tu-214 mid-haul passenger aircraft for Transaero

company;�IL-76TD-90 commercial cargo aircraft produced for Silk

Way Airlines Azerbaijanian company.

In 2008 new records of PS-90À engines flight time were set up:�Engine No. 3949041301002 at IL-96-300 aircraft named

in honor of Valery Chkalov (No. 96005) has operated 9 495 hours (1 203 cycles) after overhaul;�Engine No. 3949042001017 at IL-96-300 aircraft named

in honor of Valery Chkalov (No. 96005) achieved 31 760 hours (4 271 cycles) since putting into operation.

It is important to underline that this very aircraft named in honor of the glorified soviet pilot made unique for their duration flights (16 hours 35 minutes and 18 hours 09 minutes). This fact theoretically proves the possibility to flight from the capital of Russia to Australia without landing.

Ãîäîâàÿ íàðàáîòêà äâèãàòåëÿ ÏÑ-90À ñîñòàâèëà 274 804 ÷àñà, ñóììàðíàÿ íàðàáîòêà ïðåâûñèëà ðóáåæ 2 ìèëëèîíà ÷àñîâ, äîñòèãíóâ ïîêàçàòåëÿ 2 025 427 ÷àñîâ.

 2008 ãîäó â ðåãóëÿðíîé ýêñïëóàòàöèè íàõîäèëîñü 56 ìàãèñòðàëüíûõ ñàìîëåòîâ, èç íèõ:

18 äàëüíåìàãèñòðàëüíûõ øèðîêîôþçåëÿæíûõ ïàñ-ñàæèðñêèõ ñàìîëåòîâ Èë-96-300;

23 ñðåäíåìàãèñòðàëüíûõ ïàññàæèðñêèõ è ãðóçîâûõ êîììåð÷åñêèõ ñàìîëåòà Òó-204 ðàçëè÷íûõ ìîäèôè-êàöèé;

11 ñðåäíåìàãèñòðàëüíûõ ïàññàæèðñêèõ ñàìîëåòîâ Òó-214;

4 ãðóçîâûõ êîììåð÷åñêèõ ñàìîëåòà Èë-76ÒÄ-90.

Íåîáõîäèìî îòìåòèòü, ÷òî èìåííî íà ýòîì ñàìî-ëåòå, íàçâàííîì â ÷åñòü ïðîñëàâëåííîãî ñîâåòñêîãî ëåò÷èêà, ñîâåðøåíû óíèêàëüíûå ïî ïðîäîëæèòåëü-íîñòè ïîëåòû (16 ÷àñîâ 35 ìèíóò è 18 ÷àñîâ 09 ìèíóò), òåîðåòè÷åñêè äîêàçûâàþùèå âîçìîæíîñòü áåñïîñà-äî÷íîãî ïåðåëåòà èç ðîññèéñêîé ñòîëèöû â Àâñòðàëèþ.

The basic PS-90A engine reliability indices were as follows:�In-flight shutdown caused by design-manufacturing

faults 45 801 hours (17% higher than in 2007); �Engine removal for overhaul caused by design-

manufacturing faults 5 847 hours (14% higher than in 2007); �Mean time between failures corrected in operation

achieved 595 hours (35 % higher than in 2007).

During the reporting year a batch of serial PS-90À and PS-90À1 engines was put into operation. The engines were equipped with modernized bearing compartments cooling system with air-cooled air coolers VVT-90 manufactured by Anod - Heat-Exchanging Centre Ltd. (Nizhny Novgorod). The received results of operation of PS-90À and PS-90À1 engines equipped with modernized bearing compartments cooling system with air-cooled air coolers VVT-90 gave the decision to install the mentioned cooling

system to the whole fleet of existing and newly developed PS-90A engines.

In the reporting year two Supplements to the Certificate of Type were received: �No. 16-D/D30 concerning the increase of the maximal

allowable temperature downstream the engine turbine at emergency rating. The obtained document ensures the achievement of the required thrust at emergency rating in expected operating conditions (including high-level aerodrome);�No. 16-D/D31 concerning the implementation of HPC

shaft with assigned life equal to 12500 cycles into the typical design of PS-90À and PS-90À-76 engines. This Supplement to the Certificate of Type proves the absence of coking inside the HPC rotor shaft.

The Design Bureau specialists succeeded in the PS-90A engine noise characteristics improvement.

The height of the engine mounting on the OS-5 open bench was increased from 3.2 m to 5 m. The supplier was selected and the Contract with MDS AERO SUPPORT CORPORATION (Canada) was concluded and technical documentation for control inlet duct development was drawn. The listed activities were performed to meet ICAO requirements stipulating procedures application during aircrafts noise certification.

In 2008 the fleet of Russian produced aircraft that meet modern international environmental noise requirements was essentially extended: �Ilyushin Aviation Complex OJSC obtained Certificate No.

SSh175-IL-96-400Ò which confirms PS-90À1-equipped cargo commercial aircraft IL-96-400Ò compliance with ICAO Supplement 16 Stage 4 standards;�Tupolev OJSC obtained Supplements to the Certificate

of Type (Nos. SSH170-Òu-204/D01 /D02 /D03) which confirms that passenger aircraft Òu-204-100Å, Òu-204-100V-04, Òu-204-300-04 and cargo aircraft Òu-204SÅ with PS-90À engines of configuration 94-00-807-17 meet ICAO Supplement 16 Stage 4 standards. It should be pointed out that the carried out certification of Tu-family aircraft allows Perm manufactures to be more flexible in the issues of their engines configurations.

ìîé òåìïåðàòóðû ãàçà çà òóðáèíîé äâèãàòåëÿ íà ÷ðåçâû÷àéíîì ðåæèìå. Ïîëó÷åííûé äîêóìåíò ïîä-òâåðæäàåò ãàðàíòèðîâàííîå ïîëó÷åíèå òðåáóåìîé òÿãè íà ÷ðåçâû÷àéíîì ðåæèìå â îæèäàåìûõ óñëî-âèÿõ ýêñïëóàòàöèè (â òîì ÷èñëå è â óñëîâèÿõ âûñî-êîãîðíîãî àýðîäðîìà);�¹ 16-Ä/Ä31 î ââåäåíèè â òèïîâóþ êîíñòðóêöèþ

ìîäåëåé äâèãàòåëåé ÏÑ-90À è ÏÑ-90À-76 âàëà ðîòîðà ÊÂÄ ñ íàçíà÷åííûì ðåñóðñîì 12 500 öèêëîâ. Äîïîëíåíèå ê ñåðòèôèêàòó ïîäòâåðæäàåò èñêëþ-÷åíèå êîêñîîáðàçîâàíèÿ âíóòðè âàëà ðîòîðà ÊÂÄ.

Îñíîâíûå ïîêàçàòåëè áåçîòêàçíîñòè äâèãàòåëÿ ÏÑ-90À òàêîâû:�íàðàáîòêà íà âûêëþ÷åíèå â ïîëåòå ïî êîíñòðóêòèâ-

íî-ïðîèçâîäñòâåííûì íåäîñòàòêàì ñîñòàâèëà 45 801 ÷àñ (íà 17 % âûøå ïîêàçàòåëÿ 2007 ãîäà);�íàðàáîòêà íà ñúåì äâèãàòåëÿ ïî êîíñòðóêòèâíî-ïðî-

èçâîäñòâåííûì íåäîñòàòêàì äëÿ îòïðàâêè â ðåìîíò ñîñòàâèëà 5 847 ÷àñîâ (íà 14 % âûøå ïîêàçàòåëÿ 2007 ãîäà);�íàðàáîòêà íà íåèñïðàâíîñòü, óñòðàíåííóþ â ýêñïëó-

àòàöèè, ñîñòàâèëà 595 ÷àñîâ (íà 35 % âûøå ïîêàçà-òåëÿ 2007 ãîäà).

 òå÷åíèå îò÷åòíîãî ãîäà â ýêñïëóàòàöèþ ââåäåíà ïàðòèÿ ñåðèéíûõ äâèãàòåëåé ÏÑ-90À è ÏÑ-90À1 ñ ìîäåðíèçèðîâàííîé ñèñòåìîé îõëàæäåíèÿ îïîð ñ òåïëîîáìåííèêîì ÂÂÒ-90, èçãîòîâèòåëåì êîòîðîãî ÿâëÿåòñÿ ÎÎÎ «Àíîä - Òåïëîîáìåííûé Öåíòð» (ã. Íèæ-íèé Íîâãîðîä). Ïîëó÷åííûå ðåçóëüòàòû ýêñïëóàòàöèè

Óñïåøíî âåëàñü ðàáîòà ñïåöèàëèñòîâ ÊÁ â îáëàñòè ñîâåðøåíñòâîâàíèÿ øóìîâûõ õàðàêòåðèñòèê äâèãà-òåëÿ ñåìåéñòâà ÏÑ-90À.

Óâåëè÷åíà âûñîòà óñòàíîâêè äâèãàòåëÿ ñ 3,2 äî 5 ì íà îòêðûòîì ñòåíäå ÎÑ-5. Âûáðàí ïîñòàâùèê, çàêëþ÷åí êîíòðàêò ñ ôèðìîé MDS AERO SUPPORT CORPORATION (Êàíàäà) è ðàçðàáîòàíà òåõíè÷åñêàÿ äîêóìåíòàöèÿ íà ñîçäàíèå ïðîòèâîòóðáóëåíòíîãî óñòðîéñòâà. Ïåðå÷èñëåííûå ìåðîïðèÿòèÿ íàïðàâëåíû íà óäîâëåòâîðåíèå òðåáîâàíèé ÈÊÀÎ, ðåãëàìåíòè-ðóþùèõ èñïîëüçîâàíèå ìåòîäèê ïðè ñåðòèôèêàöèè âîçäóøíûõ ñóäîâ ïî øóìó.

 2008 ãîäó çíà÷èòåëüíî ðàñøèðèëñÿ ïàðê ñàìî-ëåòîâ ðîññèéñêîãî ïðîèçâîäñòâà, ñîîòâåòñòâóþùèõ ñîâðåìåííûì ìèðîâûì òðåáîâàíèÿì ïî øóìó íà ìåñòíîñòè:�ÎÀÎ «Àâèàöèîííûé êîìïëåêñ èìåíè Ñ. Â. Èëüþ-

øèíà» ïîëó÷åí ñåðòèôèêàò ¹ ÑØ175-Èë-96-400Ò,

ïîäòâåðæäàþùèé ñîîòâåòñòâèå òðåáîâàíèÿì Ãëàâû IV Ïðèëîæåíèÿ 16 ÈÊÀÎ ãðóçîâîãî êîììåð÷åñêîãî ñàìîëåòà Èë-96-400Ò, îñíàùåííîãî äâèãàòåëÿìè ÏÑ-90À1;�ÎÀÎ «Òóïîëåâ» ïîëó÷åíû Äîïîëíåíèÿ ê ñåðòè-

ôèêàòó òèïà (¹¹ ÑØ170-Òó-204/Ä01 /Ä02 /Ä03), ïîäòâåðæäàþùèå ñîîòâåòñòâèå ïàññàæèðñêèõ ñàìî-ëåòîâ Òó-204-100Å, Òó-204-100Â-04, Òó-204-300-04 è ãðóçîâîãî Òó-204ÑÅ ñ äâèãàòåëÿìè ÏÑ-90À èñïîë-íåíèÿ 94-00-807-17 òðåáîâàíèÿì Ãëàâû IV Ïðèëî-æåíèÿ 16 ÈÊÀÎ. Íåîáõîäèìî ïîä÷åðêíóòü, ÷òî ïðîâåäåííàÿ ñåðòèôèêàöèÿ ñàìîëåòîâ ôèðìû «Òó» ïîçâîëÿåò ïåðìñêèì ìîòîðîñòðîèòåëÿì áîëåå ãèáêî ïîäõîäèòü ê âîïðîñàì êîìïëåêòàöèè äâèãàòåëåé.

PS-90À2 ENGINE

The engine is developed in cooperation with Pratt & Whitney from the USA as a modification of the baseline PS-90A engine with improved reliability, durability and lower life cycle cost. The engine will satisfy new ICAO noise and emission standards.

The following PS-90A2 certification works were performed in 2008:�tests (1 000 cycles) to check operability of high pressure

turbine of a new design at maximal allowable temperature;�tests to check the engine operability at maximal

allowable values of gas temperature at turbine inlet and of rotor rotation speed;�two builds were made and two special tests of the first

PS-90À2 development engine were conducted to perform strain gauging of the fan, LPC, HPC and LPT parts and to measure the HPC parts temperature;

�three builds were made and several special tests as well as two long-duration certification bench tests of the second PS-90À2 development engine were conducted;�one build was made and pre-delivery test of the third

PS-90À2 development engine was conducted; this engine is intended for official 150-hr bench test;�two builds were made and two special bench tests of

the engine with FAG out-of-round roller bearings were conducted;�two builds were made and two special bench tests of

the gas generator were conducted; the main goal was airfoils strain-gauging of HPC of two different designs the HPC of PS-90À2 and the HPC with reduced number of airfoils at last stages.

During the reporting period a huge complex of performed development and design activities was focused on the fan new case development which can ensure the engine damage containment during the fan blade break off (design works were completed, the fan case development samples were manufactured, a special bench was created and several tests of different case configurations were conducted to check their impenetrability).

Several stages of equivalent-cyclic test of HPT rotor main disc parts were conducted to establish their assigned cyclic lives. The tests were performed at UIR-4 test rig. The HPT rotor total operating time was equal to 16 000 test cycles.

D-30 ENGINE

In 2008 airlines operated 370 D-30 Series 2 and 3 engines. Their total annual flight time decreased by 2.3% compared to 2007 and came to 316 965 hours.

The in-flight shutdown rate (caused by design and manufacturing defects) in 2008 came to 316 965 hours which is 12.2 times better than the normative value (26 000 hours).

The rate of engine unscheduled removal (caused by design and manufacturing defects) came to 79 241 hours that is 13.2 times better than the normative value (6 000 hours).

In 2008 the Company continued implementation of improvements aiming at: �increase of engine reliability;�extension of engine life in operation based on their

technical condition;�provision for target life of D-30 engines operated by the

RF Ministry of Defense.

Designers supervision, support and solving of technical problems related to D-30 engine overhaul at Perm Engine Company and Bykovsky Overhaul Plant were carried out.

In 2008, the Company provided Designers supervision services for: �D-30KU and D-30KU-154 engines heavy repair and

overhaul at VARZ-400 (Vnukovo Repair & Overhaul Center No. 400);�D-30ÊP and D-30ÊP2 engines heavy repair and overhaul

at 123 Aviation Repair & Overhaul Plant OJSC;�manufacturing of parts and components at Perm Engine

Company, Proton-PM OJSC, Metallist-PM CJSC for needs of VARZ-400 and 123 Aviation Repair & Overhaul Plant OJSC;�manufacturing of parts and components of D-30ÊU, D-

30ÊP and D-30ÊU-154 engines at VARZ-400 and 123 Aviation Repair Plant OJSC for own needs.

D-30KU, D-30KP, D-30KU-154 ENGINES

In 2008 Aviadvigatel OJSC continued to develop a family of advanced engines for mid- and long-haul aircrafts.

In July 2008 the so called «First Gate» passing procedure was successfully completed. It was in the scope of Program for the advanced engines family development for mid- and long-haul aircrafts. The committee decided to continue the works aimed at the Program realization taking into account the comments and suggestions received during the «First Gate» stage.

In 2008 the works aimed at advanced engine family development for civil aviation were conducted under contracts with P.I.Baranov Central Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM) FSUE and United Engine Corporation (UEC) Management Company LLC.

Under contract with CIAM in the scope of scientific and technical backlog creation necessary for the advanced engine development the works for designing and manufacturing of development components and parts of combustor, compressor and turbine were continued.

Under contracts with UEC the works were performed in three spheres:�development of the concept of the advanced engine

family rated at 9...18 ton;�designing of the gas generatordemonstrator for the

family basic engine;�engine market analysis, mastering of new designing

technological process, engines production and testing, cooperation for the advanced engine creation.

Due to calculated-design works the gas generator specified conceptual configuration was made and then the conceptual configurations of the basic engine rated at 14 ton force and the engine family rated at 9 ...18 ton force for civil aviation.

In 2008, the works with MS-21 aircraft family developers continued aimed at the engine conceptual configuration specification with more stringent requirements to its parameters and characteristics.

 2008 ãîäó ïðîäîëæàëèñü ðàáîòû ñ ðàçðàáîò÷è-êàìè ñåìåéñòâà ñàìîëåòîâ ÌÑ-21 ïî óòî÷íåíèþ îáëèêà äâèãàòåëÿ ñ ó÷åòîì ïîâûøåííûõ òðåáîâàíèé ê åãî ïàðàìåòðàì è õàðàêòåðèñòèêàì.

The engine was designed for operation as part of power plant of MiG-31 multi-purpose fighter-interceptor and its modifications.

Based on the licenses for development, manufacturing and overhaul of aviation equipment, Aviadvigatel OJSC performed the following works in 2008:

�Under the Contract with the RF Ministry of Defense and Perm Engine Company:

-operational support of the D-30F6 engine in the Air Force;

-R&D aiming at engine reliability improvement;

-works to increase engine lives and calendar lifetimes to reduce maintenance costs for the Air Force.

�Under the Contract with Aviation Repair & Overhaul Plant No. 218:

-support services in engine overhaul.

Due to the increased scope of engine repairs at «218 ARZ» the high quality of engine repair became the highest priority objective for increasing reliability and trouble-free operation of D-30F6 engines and maintaining combat readiness of MiG-31 aircraft fleet.

The Company performed the following works under the Contract with Sukhoi: �support of the trial operation of Su-47 «Berkut» fighter

engines and increase of their life and service period.

The Company performed the following works under the Contracts with Myasischev Experimental Engineering Plant:�support of trial operation of the engines installed on

M-55 «Geophysica» high-altitude aircraft.

The engine is intended for new IL-76MD-90 and IL-76MF military transport aircraft and their modifications, and also for modernization of the current fleet of IL-76 aiming at increasing the efficiency of their use.

During the year of 2008 state testing of IL-76MD-90 military transport aircraft for RF Air Force was continued at the base of Gromov Flight Research Institute.

Beriev Company (Taganrog) delivered IL-76 long-range radar detection aircraft to Elta Systems Ltd (Israel). After additional equipment installation the aircraft will be given to the main Customer that is Indian Air Forces.

PS-90À-76 ENGINE

The engine is a modification of the PS-90A-76 engine and is intended for operation as part of the power-plant of À-42 rescue amphibian.

In 2008 in cooperation with Beriev Company (Taganrog) Aviadvigatel OJSC performed works aimed at PS-90À-42 engine development for aircraft:

�preliminary design activities for engine integration to the aircraft were carriedont;

Äâèãàòåëü ïðåäñòàâëÿåò ñîáîé ìîäèôèêàöèþ ÏÑ-90À-76 è ïðåäíàçíà÷åí äëÿ ýêñïëóàòàöèè â ñîñòàâå ñèëîâîé óñòàíîâêè ïîèñêîâî-ñïàñàòåëüíîãî ñàìîëåòà-àìôèáèè À-42.

Ñîâìåñòíî ñî ñïåöèàëèñòàìè Òàãàíðîãñêîãî íàó÷-íî-òåõíè÷åñêîãî êîìïëåêñà èìåíè Ã. Ì. Áåðèåâà â 2008 ãîäó ïðîâîäèëèñü ðàáîòû ïî ñîçäàíèþ äâèãàòåëÿ ÏÑ-90À-42 :�âûïîëíåíû ïðåäâàðèòåëüíûå êîíñòðóêòîðñêèå ïðî-

ðàáîòêè ïî ïðèâÿçêå äâèãàòåëÿ ê ñàìîëåòó;�âûïóùåí ðÿä êîíñòðóêòîðñêèõ äîêóìåíòîâ, â òîì

÷èñëå ÒÓ íà ïðîåêòèðîâàíèå äâèãàòåëÿ, ÷åðòåæ áà-çîâîãî ìîäóëÿ, êîìïîíîâî÷íûé ýëåêòðîííûé ìàêåò äâèãàòåëÿ è äð.
