NEW DELHI: Bringingtogether education counsellorsfrom over 150 top educationalinstitutions from across India, atwo-day education fair will beorganised here from May 9, itwas announced on Thursday.Organised by �Afairs� at PragatiMaidan, the fair will offerstudents an opportunity to meetdirectly with admissionauthorities of over 150universities, colleges andeducational institutions fromDelhi, Bangalore, Chandigarh,Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad andother cities.
"It is being organised to serveas a time and cost effectiveplatform for 15,000 parents andstudents who are expected toattend the fair," said SanjeevBoila, founder of Afairs."Prospects shall be able to accessmultiple institutions �under oneroof."
Afairs has already travelledover 10 countries around theworld inviting foreign students topursue courses in informationtechnology, yoga, mathematicsand other subjects in India. More than 150institutions toparticipate in Delhieducation fair
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Courtwas on Thursday informed by the citygovernment�s education departmentthat it has surveyed unauthorised andunrecognised elementary-levelschools in the national capital andgranted provisional recognitioncertificates to 800 such institutions.
Adivision bench of Chief JusticeG. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw wasalso informed by the city governmentthat 300 applications were pendingbefore it for consideration. In 2013, acircular was issued asking allunrecognised elementary-levelschools to get recognised by the Delhigovernment, it said.
"The department in pursuance ofthe court�s directions conductedsurveys of the unrecognised schools ofDelhi and till date (has) givenprovisional recognition to almost 800schools with conditions ofrecognitions as laid down under theDelhi School Education Act and Rules1973 and other relevant provisions,"said an affidavit submitted by theDelhi government. The governmentsaid it has started asking pre-primaryschools, play schools, creches to get
recognised by it. It also added thatapart from the schools, situated on landgiven by the government atconcessional rates, the department hasalso decided to monitor schools, playschools and creches situated on privateland, to have parity in matters dealingwith these institutions. The court washearing a public interest litigation filedby NGO Social Jurist, which said thatdespite the court�s 2008 order that nounrecognised school should beallowed to run in Delhi, the directorateof education has done nothing toensure this, resulting in "continuousexistence and mushrooming ofhundreds of unauthorised, unsafe andunrecognised play schools and pre-primary schools in Delhi".
