COMPANY INFORMATION Primary product/service: Catholic high school; Catholic secondary education; Bishop Hendricken High School is proud to be a leader in all-boys Catholic college preparatory education for young men in grades 8-12.

FROM THE PRESIDENT

We are honored to be a part of this endeavor, and to showcase the wonderful school that Bishop Hendricken has been for the past 60 years, and continues to be today. From the first day we opened our doors in September 1959 to this very moment, we have been privileged to send forth thousands of men of intelligence, integrity, and faith into a world that needs their service. They have made a difference in their communities, and continue to change the world, one Hendricken man at a time.

range in topic from Cryptography to Sports & Entertainment

Marketing to Culinary, with subjects focused within the

fine arts, humanities, law & government, leadership &

entrepreneurship, and STEM.

Mr. Mark R. DeCiccio ’03, Principal, is the architect

of the INSPIRE program. A 2003 graduate, DeCiccio

realized his passion for education during his time as a

Hendricken student. After earning Bachelor’s and Master’s

degrees, DeCiccio served in multiple roles in educational

administration, earning the designation of 2018 Rhode

Island First Year Principal of the Year during his time

at Slater Middle School in Pawtucket. Later that year, he

was appointed to his new position at Bishop Hendricken,

bringing with him a highly collaborative leadership style

with a focus on creating a positive and safe school culture.

Fr. Robert L. Marciano, KHS ’75

also joined the Bishop Hendricken

administration in 2018 after being

appointed the school’s 7th president.

A 1975 graduate, pastor of neighboring

St. Kevin Church and School, and

administrator of St. Benedict Parish,

Fr. Marciano has over 30 years

of experience in various pastoral

settings, including parish administration, parochial school

administration, military and public service chaplaincies,

community boards, and civic involvement. Fr. Marciano’s

chief goal is to oversee the advancement of the school’s

mission through the development of strategic and positive

community relationships.

Bishop Hendricken is also home to one of the most

comprehensive and encompassing co-curricular arts

programs in the state, including programs in drama,

instrumental music, media arts, vocal music, and visual

art. At a time when programs are being underfunded and

Over 60 years ago, a priest with a vision,

His Excellency, the late Bishop Russell J.

McVinney, visited the Morris family home in

Warwick, Rhode Island to share his desire to

build an all-boys Catholic high school on their

farm property. Mr. and Mrs. Morris knelt in

their living room to receive Bishop McVinney,

and without hesitation, gave him permission

to take whatever property of theirs he needed.

In 1959, Bishop McVinney’s dream came to

fruition when Bishop Hendricken High School

opened its doors on 34 acres of the Morris’

farmland to some 350 students. In the sixty

years that have passed, Bishop Hendricken has

educated nearly 12,000 young men who have

gone on to make a difference in all facets of life.

Since opening its doors, Bishop Hendricken’s

mission has been to bring each member of its

community into a closer relationship with

God through the development of the total

person – heart, mind, body, and soul. At Bishop

Hendricken, education is rooted in personal

growth and challenge in all areas of the

student experience, including academics, arts,

athletics, ministry, service, leadership, and

extracurricular activities.

Helping those in need for 125 YEARS

CROSSROADS RHODE ISLAND

COMPANY INFORMATION Crossroads Rhode Island is the leading provider of housing and services to the homeless in Rhode Island. Their mission is to help homeless or at-risk individuals and families secure stable homes. Those they serve achieve this by engaging in a range of services including housing, basic needs, shelter, case management, referrals and education and employment services.

LEGACY

125 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Crossroads Rhode Island, the leading provider of housing and services to the homeless in Rhode Island, is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2019. Founded as Travelers Aid in 1894, the organization’s original mission was to protect women and girls traveling to Providence. Through the decades, the agency’s mission evolved to meet the changing needs of the community. With World War II, the mission expanded to assist military service members, veterans, and immigrants leading the agency to place Travelers Aid booths in train and bus stations. As transportation transformed with automobiles and the recession of the 1970s hit, the organization shifted its focus once again to help those individuals and families in need of a place to call home.

In the 1980s, sparked by a deep recession, lack of affordable housing and drastic cutbacks in Federal housing funds, homelessness hit crisis levels in Rhode Island – and the modern era of homelessness began. In response, Travelers Aid rapidly evolved to provide comprehensive, 24/7 services. In 1994, the agency acquired its first housing, turning former Navy housing in North Kingstown into 58 transitional housing units for families.

To better reflect the growing needs of the homeless population, and its expansion into housing, the agency rebranded as Crossroads Rhode Island in 2004 and moved into its current headquarters at 160 Broad Street in Providence, taking over ownership and management of 192 permanent supportive housing units with the building.

Building on that momentum, in a sweeping philosophical shift, Crossroads adopted a housing-first

approach in 2014. Unlike traditional shelter models, housing-first moves those with the greatest needs out of shelter and into housing as soon as possible. Once stabilized in housing, Crossroads provides the services and support necessary to help individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency.

CrossroadsRI

Today, Crossroads is the leading provider of housing and services to the homeless in Rhode Island, and is governed by a 40-member volunteer Board of Directors with representation from the business, finance, health care, education, media and government sectors.

At Crossroads, helping at-risk individuals and families secure stable housing is our passion, not just our mission.

◆ We own or manage 370 residences statewide.

◆ We provide housing-related services to more than 3,500 people each year, including nearly 1,000 women and 750 children.

◆ In 2018, approximately 2,000 were provided with emergency shelter.

◆ About 1,000 either maintained or moved into permanent housing.

◆ More than 430 participated in adult education and employment programs, including a Certified Nursing Assistant program that graduated 85 students last year and helped them get and keep good jobs with local healthcare providers.

In addition to housing, Crossroads offers a range of services including basic needs, shelter, case management, referrals, education and employment services and a Domestic Violence Program. Crossroads is the only homeless services agency open 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week.

On our 125th anniversary, we are more committed than ever to do our part to expand access to affordable housing to Rhode Islanders experiencing homelessness. Of course, our work would not be possible without our generous donor and community partners. Thank you to all who continue to support Crossroads and our mission. Here’s to you and 125 years of giving back to those in need.

COMPANY INFORMATION Our mission is to actively support and finance investments in Rhode Island’s infrastructure. The Infrastructure Bank does so through a variety of means, including the issuance of bonds, originating loans and grant making. Through its activities, the Bank fosters infrastructure improvements that create jobs, promote economic development and enhance the environment.

Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank is Rhode Island’s central hub for financing infrastructure improvements for municipalities, businesses, and homeowners. We leverage capital in a revolving fund to offer innovative financing for an array of infrastructure-based projects including water and wastewater, road and bridge, energy efficiency, brownfield remediation and climate resiliency. A HEALTH PLAN ON A MISSION

Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island is a not-for-profit health maintenance organization (HMO) founded 25 years ago by Rhode Island’s Community Health Centers (CHCs). We served our first 1,490 members in 1994, and by 2000 grew to 50,000 members. Today, Neighborhood serves one out of every five Rhode Islanders with approximately 195,000 members. Nearly half of Neighborhood members receive primary care at one of the federally-qualified CHCs in Rhode Island.

Our mission is to make sure everyone in the state has access to high-quality, affordable health care and we work in partnership with the CHCs to make health care easier and have formed a strong safety net for Rhode Island’s at-risk populations. This means ensuring our members receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place. We are proud to have earned “Excellent” accreditation by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for 19 consecutive years as a demonstration of our commitment to the communities we serve.

with special health care needs, all children in the foster care system, adults with disabilities, and adults without dependent children. We offer health and drug plans for Rhode Islanders eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid, and we also offer commercial plans for individuals, families and small businesses through HealthSource RI.

Additionally, our employees connect with members through involvement in community events across the state as well as volunteering at non-profit organizations. Neighborhood supports our employees taking a full day a year—with pay—to volunteer with an organization important to them. As a company we are proud of our history of community service and will continue to give back to neighborhoods throughout Rhode Island for years to come.

As part of Neighborhood’s mission and in collaboration with the CHCs, we have a history of advocating to expand access to care, and improving health care quality through innovation and controlling costs. We work every day to improve health care delivery, make access easier and achieve better health outcomes for our members. At Neighborhood we are on a mission to make every day a better day for our members.

We were founded to address people’s needs.Today, we remain true to our roots.

Committed to community. Driven by purpose.Opening doors and breaking down barriers. To better health. To stronger neighborhoods.
