It explores the biblical and theological foundations for dance as a ministry and form of creative worship and expression. It also investigates the practical dimensions of a dance ministry within the worship and creative life of the church. (MINDNC401 Describe and contribute to effective dance ministry | 32 hours)

DANCE TECHNIQUE 1 AND 2These subjects cover a variety of dance styles, focusing on basic technique, expression and performance particular to each style. These styles may include ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop amongst others. You will learn and apply technical skills to correctly execute movements and routines, whilst ensuring safe dance practice, as well as understand the relationship between musical accompaniments and various technique styles. (CUADAN201 Develop basic dance techniques with CUADAN304 Develop dance improvisation skills | 84 hours)

CHOREOGRAPHY 1 AND 2These subjects teach students the tools and skills of industry professional choreography. They will research well-known choreographers and apply structural components of movement in order to communicate the creative message. They will also create short choreographic works of their own and incorporate their broad range of dance knowledge into their compositions. These subjects teach students to think innovatively and manage creatively challenging moments. DANCE PERFORMANCE 1 AND 2This essential class teaches both performance skills and performance psychology techniques in order to equip students with the skills to communicate on many levels. Students will learn a variety of dance styles used in different contexts in order to increase performance skills. They will also perform in an array of settings to gain practical and live experience. DANCE STREAMIf you are a dancer, Dance subjects will train you in the theory and leadership principles of dance, whilst preparing you to lead a dance ministry in your local

INTRODUCTION TO FILM AND TV IN MINISTRYThis subject introduces students to the role of Film & TV in ministry within the local church. It explores the power and possibilities of media for the communication of vision, facilitating worship, and building community in the life of the local church. It also investigates the use of film to communicate the Gospel in visually captivating and compelling ways to our society. (MINTV406 Describe and contribute to effective Christian Film and TV ministries | 16 hours)

STUDIO CAMERA 1 AND 2These subjects involve operating broadcast camera equipment in a multi-camera studio environment to record broadcast quality TV content. This includes operating Broadcast Pedestals, Tripods, and Handheld cameras plus working and responding to a director and working in state of the art TV control rooms. Students will experience Directing, Producing and many control room operations essential to creating world class television content. The foundations taught in this course will prepare them to take an active role in various Hillsong Channel recordings, live Church events as well as work within professional studio camera environments. (CUACAM402 Shoot screen content in a multi-camera environment | 48 hours)

CINEMATOGRAPHY 1 AND 2These subjects include operating cameras in a Film and

Television environment. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of cinematography on Canon DSLR cameras while using industry-standard lighting and other video production equipment. Introductions into lighting, shot composition, and production management is also taught in this course. Furthermore, students will learn basic location audio recording skills required for capturing sound on a shoot. The culmination of learning these skills will give you a broad range of experience across the many departments within a Film & TV crew. (CUACAM301 Shoot material for screen productions | 48 hours)

DIGITAL EDITING 1 AND 2In our modern Mac Labs, you will learn how to edit a range of video content in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. This subject has a strong practical focus and hands-on approach to learning the art of editing and is completed in weekly workshops with trainers who are actively working in the industry. (CUAPOS401 Edit screen content for fast turn around | 48 hours)

SCREENWRITING 1 AND 2Stories are the starting point and foundation for any film. This subject will teach you the basics of screenwriting and help you evaluate audiences, imagine ideas, develop characters and draft stories that change lives. (CUAWRT302 Write simple stories | 32 hours)


FILM & TV STREAMThis course gives you an introduction to the basics of camera and video editing skills. You will be immersed into studio recording environments, gain hands-on experience in the world of cinematography and be part of working production teams. Students will also have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of Film and Television projects within our College and Hillsong Church, including the creation of content for

our Hillsong Channel.

INTRODUCTION TO PRODUCTION IN MINISTRYThis subject introduces students into production as a ministry in the local church. It explores the role of the production team within the creative ministry and expression of the church. It seeks to cultivate a ministry philosophy that harnesses the power and possibilities of all dimensions of production, bringing them into the service of the gospel and the life-changing mission of the church. (MINPRD401 Describe and contribute to effective technical production ministry | 16 hours)

AUDIO SYSTEMSDuring the audio systems subject students will be trained in industry standards for operating a variety of equipment and translating this into the live environment. Students will also become familiar with the bump in/out procedures, participation in technical rehearsals, workplace safety standards & procedures, 2-way communication systems and various production roles within church services. Learning to interpret this knowledge and skills to the audio production requirements will ultimately lead to the ability of competency in operating audio equipment during a live event. (CUASOU301 Undertake live audio operations | 40 hours)

INPUT SOURCESThis subject delivers the skills and knowledge required to select & manage appropriate microphones and input sources for each given situation as well as the understanding of the signals these devices will create. We will go beyond the general knowledge and use of microphones and delve into what it takes to create

and implement complex microphone plots. In addition to these we will look at alternate input sources available, such as DI’s and replay equipment, how to create a concise and clear input patch list and follow this through to successful connection. (CUASOU402 Manage audio input sources | 48 hours)

LIVE AUDIOThis subject delivers the skills and knowledge required to move from operating a console to mixing audio for a live performance. Skills in mixing audio are developed over an extended period of time and the opportunity to gain this experience of putting what you learn in class time into practice is required and made mandatory by logging practise hours in a real environment. These opportunities will be made available through college life with opportunities through our youth services, college chapels and even additional creative college workshops. (CUASOU401 Mix live audio | 40 hours)

STAGE MONITORINGThis subject equips students with the skills and knowledge required to establish stage requirements for a range of venues and events whilst fulfilling technical requirements and satisfying the final delivery platforms. Students will learn how to set up and operate a stage foldback system as a dedicated console or via a FOH send. Stage equipment and specific issues are explored to lay a foundation for the management of engineering a monitor’s mix and the problems that can arise within the stage foldback environment. (CUASOU502 Manage the operation of stage monitor systems | 48 hours)


PRODUCTION STREAMThe Production Stream will equip you to function at a professional level in audio engineering and live mixing, with the ability to use your skills in both your local

church and the broader production industry.

By being involved on a weekly basis in real-life ministry you will get the chance to put into practice all your classroom learning. This means that when you’re finished your training you will have developed what it takes to be fruitful in ministry

over the long term.

Your Practicum is also intimately connected to your Core Subjects, so through your consistent involvement in team ministry you will really develop the leadership, communication

and teamwork skills these subjects are teaching.

Your Practicum will place you in a ministry team relevant to the kind of ministry you’re being trained for in your Stream. In particular, Pastoral Leadership stream students will be allocated

to an area of ministry determined their choice of Pathway.

It will also help you think through the biblical and theological dimensions of caring for people so that you can grapple with many of the difficult issues that come up in pastoral ministry. It will focus on the process of tracking and recording audio. Students will study signal flow, the recording process, microphone and recording techniques across a range of instruments and situations, as well as studio etiquette and session management among other information. Location recording will be looked at, along with recording dialogue for video applications. Our Advanced Diploma in Ministry course is specifically designed to help transition students into full-time ministry. The course gives you the opportunity to gain real-life ministry training while furthering academic development. It also equips students with

the skills needed to lead and exert influence amongst other ministry leaders.

Graduates will leave equipped with the skills they need for a wide range of key leadership and senior ministry roles. Many of our graduates have gone on to leadership roles, such as Associate Pastor, Youth Pastor and Worship Pastor, where they are using the leadership, management and ministry skills they developed in their third year. CORINTHIAN CORRESPONDENCEPaul’s two letters to the Corinthians provide an ideal opportunity for in-depth study of a new testament book in its historical, cultural and social setting. PRACTICUMStudents will train alongside a pastor or key leader at Hillsong Church or other approved ministry or church during the week. The College will work with you to tailor a practicum that will further develop your leadership or ministry potential, whilst positioning you to make a significant contribution to the life of Hillsong Church or your local Sydney church. MASTERSThe postgraduate awards are for those with an undergraduate degree who wish to undertake Master’s level studies. This results in the achievement of a higher assessment level than simply doing another bachelor’s degree. The Master of Arts (MA) is a general postgraduate degree where students will primarily undergo theology and biblical studies. The Master of Leadership (MLead) examines the inner workings of high-level church and ministry leadership; subjects tackle areas such as leadership, finance, governance and law. The Master of Theology (MTh) is for those who already possess an undergraduate or postgraduate Degree in Ministry or Theology and seek to further their expertise in biblical studies or theology in preparation for future doctoral and academic work.

PASTORAL REFERENCEWe require a Pastoral Reference from a pastor at the church you are currently attending or have most recently attended if

you are not currently attending a local church.

HILLS AND CITY CAMPUSWhen applying you will have the option to study at either our Hills or City campuses. Academically there is no difference between the two. The courses are identical and our key staff teach across both campuses. However, the Dance, TV & Media and Production streams are only available at the Hills Campus.

LEARNING ENGLISHIf English is not your first language, you must be able to speak and write English at an acceptable level to satisfactorily complete your course. Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds are required to provide evidence of their English ability through one of several internationally recognised English-testing services. Meeting minimum English requirements is also an Australian student visa requirement. Contact our admissions office at: [email protected]

VISA INFORMATIONInternational students (i.e. those who are not Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents) must obtain a Student Visa issued by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) before studying in Australia. To apply for a Student Visa, students will require a Conformation of Enrolment (CoE) - a document issued by Hillsong College. A CoE can only be issued to a student after they have been accepted into Hillsong College and the minimum fee payment has been made. Once the CoE is received, the student will need to apply for a Student Visa by contacting DIBP or their

ARRIVAL IN SYDNEYMoving to Sydney will be one of the greatest adventures of your life! Here at Hillsong College we endeavor to make the transition from home to your ‘home away from home’ as effortless as possible. Amongst the most popular teams that our students love to be involved with is the Welcome Team. The Welcome Team is assigned especially to help your initial encounter with our city and college to run as smoothly as possible and minimise the potential anxiety you may feel when

you first arrive.

ACCOMODATION AND FEESHOUSING

Hillsong College leases apartments and/or houses in the community, which are sublet to students. The arrangement for accommodation is for a minimum period of one complete

semester of study with rent paid fortnightly.

HILLS ACCOMMODATIONMainly suburban houses, generally located around two main student residential communities: Bella Vista (10-30 minutes walking distance from campus) or Glenwood (10-30 minutes

walking distance from Hills campus).

CITY ACCOMMODATIONA combination of apartments and houses, generally located around Waterloo, Alexandria and Zetland (10-15 minutes

walking distance from City campus).

MARRIED COUPLESMarried couples can apply for College accommodation in the same manner as single students but should take into consideration that all costs are calculated per person. Married couples are usually accommodated with other married couples.

FEESHillsong College fees are calculated according to the Stream that you choose to study. Our fees are the same regardless of whether you are a domestic or international student, payment of which is split into semesters. Payment of the first semester’s

REQUIREMENTS’ MEAN?College runs from 8:00am until approximately 3:00-4:00pm, four days per week - (daily finish times vary depending on your personal timetable). Students are also given the opportunity to serve in two of the weekend church services as a part of their course. You will receive one day off in the Mon-Fri week.

WHY DO STREAM FEES DIFFER FROM ONE ANOTHER?Streams differ with regard to the number of trainers as well as the type and amount of equipment and resources required to provide each student with the best training experience. Fee variation between Streams reflects the higher trainer to student ratio and more expensive equipment requirements for training in certain areas of ministry. Our fees are calculated to allow effective resourcing for each Stream accordingly, thus ensuring the entire learning

experience is as rewarding for the student as possible.
