UPCOMING SERMON SERIES - THE CALLThe International Conference on Missions (ICOM) returns to Richmond in November. Fairmount will again play a significant role in welcoming the world to our region. Not only will we be able to attend great worship services, hear great speakers, and tour hundreds of mission-minded exhibits… Fairmount will be called upon to serve in a myriad of volunteer capacities. We responded tremendously when ICOM came in 2015. We will respond tremendously again.

This year’s ICOM theme is “The Call”. The theme is based on the stirring words of God that Isaiah records in Isaiah 45: “I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the One who calls you by name”. God has called every one of us – by name – to serve in His Kingdom in some form or fashion. For some, it is answering the call to move abroad and serve in a foreign land. For others, it is answering the call to share our faith with the coworker in the lunchroom or the student we share a class with. We have all been called.

This September, as we gear our entire congregation up for ICOM, we are going to explore the ICOM theme on Sunday mornings. Our preaching series will delve into how God’s call affects our lives, our families, our church, and our world.

How has God called you? Our church family will be blessed greatly as we discover that answer together.

2021 - 2022 FAIRMOUNT ELDER & DEACONS

If you had told me in March, 2020 that we would not be having any choir or orchestra rehearsals for 18 months, I’m not sure I would have believed you. And yet, here we are in September, 2021, and it’s hard to believe it’s been that long! I am VERY excited to be able to resume rehearsals in September with all of our music groups. Here’s a list of the groups…all of which would welcome returning and new participants! FOREVER YOUNG CHOIRThis choir is for older but young at heart men and women. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from September through May at 1:15 in the Music Suite. We typically learn 2 short musicals a year – one at Christmas time and one in the Spring – and present those programs to area nursing homes in December and May. We are especially in need of tenors! We will begin on Tuesday, September 7. WORSHIP CHOIRThis choir is for all male and female adults or high school students. We meet each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Music Suite from September through May. We typically sing most Sunday mornings in our worship services, as well as present a Christmas and an Easter musical. We are especially in need of tenors! We will begin on Wednesday, September 8. ORCHESTRAThis group is open to anyone who plays an orchestral instrument (strings, woodwinds or brass), and is high school age and above. We meet each Sunday afternoon in the Sanctuary at 4:30, September through May. We typically play in morning worship services several times throughout the year. We are especially in need of anyone who plays violin, viola or trombone! We will begin on Sunday, September 12. If you have an interest in participating in any of these groups, please contact me.
