The couple met at a dance in 1935.

Married late in the turbulent year of 1938.

Zdzislaw went to fight with the Polish Army, separating the

couple not long after their marriage.

While fighting, he was seized and sent to a Siberian Labour

Camp, also known as the Gulag.
