PROJECT | Greenstone Structural Solutions was used in the construction of Elite Safety Services located in Brandon, Manitoba. The 5.5" Greenstone Panels were used as the structural exterior walls for the 6,200 sq.ft. front office, which is designed in a unique “Y” shape. The Greenstone Panels fully supported the wood truss roof system and allowed for interior and exterior finishes to be applied directly to the panels (see figure 1).

CHALLENGE | Elite was the first commercial project in Brandon to comply with the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB 2011) which is adopted and enforced in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. The NECB 2011 provisions to limit the probability that buildings will use an excessive amount of energy. Commercial and institutional buildings need to be 25 percent more energy efficient than the previous codes.

SOLUTIONS | Greenstone Panels efficiently reach effective R-value requirements for all climate zones. The unique composite assembly of steel and EPS creates a full thermal break throughout the entire wall system. Steel does not run continuously from the exterior to the interior, eliminating thermal transmission complications evident in comparable assemblies on the market. Greenstone Panels are available in a 3.5", 5.5", 7.5" or 9.25" thickness. A staggered panel assembly is utilized to achieve high ceiling or multistory design applications.
