INTRODUCTION OF PROJECT
SOLAR WATER PUMP• If you need to supply water beyond the reach of power lines, then
solar power can solve the problem.• Photovoltaic powered pumps provide a welcome alternative to fuel-
burning engines, windmills, and hand pumps. Thousands of solar pumps are working throughout the world.
• They produce best during sunny weather, when the need for water is greatest. Photovoltaic (PV) modules (i.e. Solar electric panels) produce electricity from sunlight using silicon cells, with no moving parts.
• They have been mass-produced since 1979. They are so reliable that most manufacturers give a 20-year warranty, and a life expectancy beyond 30 years. They work well in cold or hot weather.
Domestic Water:
Solar pumps are used for private
homes, villages, medical clinics, etc. A water pump can
be powered by its own PV array, or by a main system
that powers lights and appliances
Livestock Watering:
It can also be use for watering of livestock in those areas
where there is no supply of power and maintenance cost
is higher.
Irrigation:
Solar pumps are used on small farms, orchards and gardens.
It is most economical to power the pump directly from the
PV array (without battery), store water in a tank, and then
distribute it by gravity flow.
USES OF SWP
SIGNIFICANCE
Save electricity. Environment friendly water pumping. Reliable and less maintenance cost. Efficient and cheaper than other way of
pumping water. Helps to pump water in those areas where maintenance cost is
higher and no supply of electricity.
PUMP TYPES
There is a large variety of solar water pump types in the market. The most common types of mechanisms are
Helical rotor (mono) Centrifugal Piston or diaphragm
Our project includes only the installation of helical rotor pump so we discuss only this.
FUNCTIONING OF HELICAL ROTOR SOLAR PUMPS:
The pump is mounted on a submersible motor and is submerged below the water level in the borehole. Electricity is provided by a solar panel array installed within a close distance from the borehole.
The Unit Water Cost (UWC): the cost of a specific volume
of water that one has to sell to recover the capital cost.Maintenance cost and
operating cost of a pump over the full life cycle.
Very often investment decisions are based only on
the cost for purchasing .
The cost of the diesel pump Maintenance costs. For diesel pumps, as every farmer
knows, these costs are significant. Already at this point the diesel pump is
twice as expensive as the solar pump.
COMPARISON BETWEEN SOLAR WATER PUMP AND DIESEL PUMP
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project comprises of installation of solar water pump in the Mitthi area of Sindh. This is done by one of the renowned company of Pakistan solar sector EBR energy. The whole project includes the installation of three solar water pumps and it is divided into three
phase. In every phase there is an installation of solar water pump.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
clean
continuous
maintenance free supply of water.
Educate the people about the use of solar technology
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Installation of three solar water pumps phase by
phase.
All installation must be carried
out on scheduled time.
Safe installation of solar pumps and solar panels as
they are expensive and have risk of
damage
INFORMATION GATHERING• Information is gather from the EBR energy secondary source of
information gathering is Lorentz Company of Germany who provide solar product to EBR.
NEED OF THE HOUR
Today Pakistan is facing the worst energy crisis. Due to the inefficiency of energy reserves i.e. Electricity and gas it has become inevitable to find the new, cheap and environment friendly energy
resources and for this purpose solar energy is the best way to fulfill the ever
increasing energy demand.
So, we select this project on one of the lesser known solar energy product i.e. “SOLAR
WATER PUMP”.

Lesson learned
The first stage is completed according to plan and first solar water
pump is installed on scheduled.
There is good communication between different level of employee
and department which is necessary for the on time project completion.
The quality promises are made according to commitment.
The company provides maximum facility to the employees at work
site.
CONCLUSION
SUGGESTIONS
The company must ensure the safety of employees in the work field.
Company must give relaxation time after the completion of each project.
Company must make special arrangement for the safe transportation of
sensitive equipment to work place.
