The Standby Guardianship Project
In May 2018, the Marylandlegislature passed a new law thatallows an undocumented parentto name someone they trust to
care for their children for a periodof six months if detained or
deported. The purpose of the lawwas to prevent trauma for
immigrant children and to have alegal path to avoid having
children placed in the foster caresystem if their parentsexperience an adverse
immigration action.
The TESS Center and theStandby Guardianship Projectare partnering to have a pilotprogram to offer informationabout family safety planning
and assist parents in completingthe designation form.

Free assistance for parents in danger ofbeing detained, deported, or
who have sudden health issues.
The TESS Community Action Center andthe Standby Guardianship Project arepartnering on a new initiative to helpfamilies develop safety plans. Designate someone you trust to carefor your children:
Receive assistance in filling out asimple form available in severallanguagesGive a person you trust authority totake care of your children if you havean emergency needKeep all your rights as a parent, andyou can revoke the guardianship atany time
Every Monday, beginning November
4th, 2019; there will be free andconfidential assistance at the TESSCenter to help create family safety
planning and complete the form.Appointments are available on
Mondays from 9-11am and 1-4pm.

Usted recibirá asistencia para llenar laforma requerida. Estará disponible endiferentes idiomas. Usted como padre puede autorizar unapersona de su confianza para que cuidesus hijos durante una emergencia. Usted como padre continuaramanteniendo todos los derechos y puederevocar la tutela cuando usted lo solicite.
Fechas de Servicios:
Todos los lunes a partir de Noviembrehabrá asistencia gratuita en el Centro
TESS para ayudar a familias a completarla forma. Citas disponibles los lunes de

የቤተሰብ ጥንቃቄእቅድ በማዘጋጀት እና ፎርም በመሙላት
ይረዳል።
ሰኞ ሰኞ ከጠዋቱ 9-11 ሰአት ወይም ከሰአትበኋላ 1-4 ሰአት ቀጠሮ ማስያዝ ይቻላል።
