PROJECT DESCRIPTIONNeha Patel is the Human Resources director of Fit Kix Footwear, an athletic shoe retailer based in New England. Neha has created a workbook of employee data with worksheets listing employees in individual stores, a consolidated worksheet with data for all employees, and worksheets with PivotTables she wants to use for data analysis. Neha has asked you to edit some of the worksheet data, sort and filter selected tables to make the data more meaningful, and create and modify selected PivotTables and PivotCharts.

GETTING STARTED Download the following file from the SAM website:

o NP_Excel2013_T5_P1b_FirstLastName_1.xlsx

Open the file you just downloaded and save it with the name: o NP_Excel2013_T5_P1b_FirstLastName_2.xlsx

o Hint: If you do not see the .xlsx file extension in the Save file dialog box, do not type it. Excel will add the file extension for you automatically.

With the file NP_Excel2013_T5_P1b_FirstLastName_2.xlsx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in cell B6 of the Documentation sheet. If cell B6 does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

PROJECT STEPS1. Go to the Westview worksheet. Unfreeze the top two rows of the worksheet. 2. Sort the data in the WestviewEmployees table first in ascending order by the

Position field and then in the descending order by the 2018 Hourly Rate field.3. Insert a Total row in the WestviewEmployees table. (Hint: The Total row

should automatically total the values in the 2016 Wages field.) Use the Total row to calculate the total of the values in the 2017 Wages and 2018 Wages fields.

4. Create a PivotTable based on the WestviewEmployees table in a new worksheet titled Westview PivotTable. Update the PivotTable as described below so that it matches Figure 1 on the following page. (Hint: If necessary, remove existing, unused fields from the ROWS and VALUES areas.)

a. Add the Position field and the LastName field (in that order) to the ROWS area.

c. Update the Sum of 2016 Wages field in the VALUES area to display the name Total 2016 Wages with the Currency Number format with 0 decimal places.

d. Update the Sum of 2017 Wages field in the VALUES area to display the name Total 2017 Wages with the Currency Number format with 0 decimal places.

b. Convert the table to a normal range. (Hint: This option is only available if you do not select the header rows.)

c. Insert subtotals into the range B2:J18, with the subtotals appearing at each change in the Position column value.

d. The subtotals should use the SUM function and include subtotals for the 2016 Wages, 2017 Wages, and 2018 Wages fields. (Hint: Make sure to check the summary below data check box if it is not checked automatically.)

6. Go to the Willow worksheet. Create an Excel table with headers based on the range B2:J17. Rename the table WillowEmployees and format the table using the Table Style Light 9 (3rd column, 2nd row in the Light Table Style section).

7. Add the following record as shown in Table 1 below to the end of the WillowEmployees table:

Table 1: New Record for WillowEmployees Table

8. Go to the Highgate worksheet and filter the HighgateEmployees table to show only those records with a Position field value of Floor.

9. Delete the duplicate record for Greg McLaughlin from the HighgateEmployees table.

Figure 2: AllEmployees Pivot Worksheet

13. Switch to the AllEmployees Pivot worksheet. Refresh the AllEmployeesPivot PivotTable data. (Hint: After refreshing the PivotTable, the Khatri record in row 31 should now have a Sum of 2018 Wages field value of 51000.)

14. Apply the Pivot Style Medium 2 PivotTable style to the PivotTable.15. Update the Sum of 2018 Wages field in the VALUES area to display the name

Total 2018 Wages with the Currency Number format with 0 decimal places.16. Create a Filter for the PivotTable by adding the Position field to the FILTERS

area. Filter the table so that only employees with a Register position are visible.

17. Create a Slicer that will filter the PivotTable based on the Store field value. Resize the slicer so that it has a height of 1.6” and a width 1.6”. Move the slicer so that its top-left corner appears in cell E3. Finally, use the slicer to filter the PivotTable so that only employees from the Westview store are visible.

18. Switch to the Store Pivot worksheet. Refresh the StoreWagePivot PivotTable data. Insert a PivotChart with the Clustered Bar Chart type. Update the PivotChart as described below to match Figure 3 on the following page.

a. Move and resize the PivotChart so that the top-left corner is in cell E3 and the bottom-right corner is in cell L23.

b. Add the chart title Wages by Store to the PivotChart using the Above Chart option.

c. Use the Position axis field button to filter the PivotChart so that only the wages for Register employees at each store location appear in the graph.
