LEGACY PROJECT
Introduction: Office of HIV/AIDS Network Coordination (HANC)
HANC is a project that works with the five HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Networks funded by the Division of AIDS (DAIDS) of NIH with the intent of creating a more integrated collaboration and flexible research structure.
Introduction: The Legacy Project
Mission: The Legacy Project’s mission is to build trust and collaboration among researchers, research institutions and historically underrepresented communities most impacted by the domestic HIV epidemic; to enhance cultural competence; and to initiate scientific investigation to increase clinical research participation.

Programs & Initiatives
Legacy EvaluationGoal: To conduct process and outcome
evaluations of all Legacy Project initiatives.
House/Ball & ATN CollaborationGoal:To initiate dialogue with the HBC
and address research questions related to prevention messaging,
risk behaviors, and awareness of clinical research; and to form a coalition that
will spread the word about HIV prevention and therapeutic
research, encourage HIV testing, identify barriers and facilitators for
clinical trial participation, and provide culturally appropriate and scientifically
accurate information.
Hispanic/Latino CommunityConsultation Services
Goal: To increase the knowledge and awareness of HIV/AIDS
clinical research among Hispanic/Latino communities and to
examine barriers to participation.
CBA/CDC CollaborationGoal: To improve the capacity of minority community-based
organizations to integrate cutting-edge biomedical
approaches in their respective HIV prevention portfolios.
NAEHCR/NNAAPCCollaborative
Goal: To improve outreach and
collaboration between Native American
communities and HIV clinical research sites in
Seattle and Denver.
CATA (Creating Awareness Through Art)
Goal: To facilitate partnerships with artists,
clinical researchers, venues, and site staff to reach
communities most impacted by HIV in the U.S.
BTG BridgeGoal: To foster relationships with highly impacted communities in
order to promote awareness, understanding, dialogue, and
support for biomedical prevention research.
BCU/Lincoln UniversityCollaborative
Goal: To examine the knowledge, attitudes and
beliefs of students and administrators at HBCU.

LETI (Legacy Expanded Testing Initiative)
Goal: To increase awareness of, and/or referrals to, HIV
prevention clinical trial sites for people of all ethnicities, gender
identities and sexual orientations that are most disproportionately
impacted by the domestic HIV epidemic.

BE THE GENERATION BRIDGE
To foster relationships with highly impacted communities in order to promote dialogue,
awareness and understanding of biomedical prevention research, and increase support for
research participation.
