In the Bay of Campeche, Gulf of Mexico, a jacket with suction buckets is used to support apipe bridge between the Akal platform and a new compression platform.
NGI performed the detailed geotechnical design of the bucket foundations. During the designprocess, NGI acted as an advisor to Global Maritime, starting with the concept evaluation, review of soil conditions, sizing of the bucket foundations and analysis of penetrationresistance to determine the under base pressure required to reach target depth.
Project | AKAL suction bucket jacket

On assignment from Global Maritime Stavanger NGIperformed the detailed geotechnical design of thebucket foundations for a jacket platform in the Bay ofCampeche, Gulf of Mexico.
The jacket was successfully installed in 2016. Due to the soft soil conditions at the site, each suction bucket had to be penetrated to 14.5
