    SUMMARY

    On 23rd

day of September, 2013 was our first exposure in emergency room of DRH with

the concept of emergency nursing. On this day we were assigned in different areas in ER and Iwas assigned in CIU. We had our endorsement at seven in the morning and had our rounds. After

the rounds we were oriented of the equipments in the area. After the orientation I met my first

client in CIU and this patient was a stroke patient. Upon entering of the client we gave O2 and

dress the patient in patient gown then followed by the reading of ECG then insertion of the ET

tube, NGT and catheter. All the procedure was repeated upon the arrival of new patients. I

transferred patient to ward. I had my late lunch break at one in the afternoon with my partner.

After the lunch break new patient arrived and do the same procedures. Weve been dismissed

    after the shifts done.

    REFLECTION

This day was my first exposure in the emergency room and even that was my first time to

do those procedures I made it well performed. I grabbed all the opportunities to do the

procedures. Even that day was so exotic I made myself an emergency nurse within the eight

hours of duty. This day gives me new experiences and new skills to learned.

    SUMMARY

    On 24th

day of September, 2013 was our second day of exposure in emergency room of

DRH with the concept of emergency nursing. On this day I was still assigned in CIU room. Thisday was not so exotic because I handle few patients. I performed the same procedures like

assisting in insertion of ET tube, NGT, Catheter, ECG, transporting of patients and many more.

At noon I had my lunch break and after that I went back to the ER. As I arrived in my assigned

area I had new client that not supposed to be in CIU because the client was experiencing chills,

so the nurse attendant asked me to transfer the patient to family medicine to continued

observation. As I returned a new patient was arrived from the surgery ward. This client

experiencing dyspnea because of neck mass obstruction so I assisted the physician for ET tube

insertion, but sadly the patient experienced negative pulse, and breathing. The doctor ordered to

perform CPR and then I performed it even it was my first time. I revived the patient at first after

the procedure, but again the patient experienced again negative pulse and breathing so two of myclassmates tried to CPR but still negative so I continued to perform CPR and after the 3 cycles

we revived the patient. After doing all the procedure we transport the patient to MICU. And that

was the last patient Ive handled on that day.

    REFLECTION

This was an overwhelming day in ER where in I performed my skills even it was my first

time. I am so thankful that I learned things on how to save the life of others. I made another day

so unforgettable where I became a tool to revive a dying person. On this day I never regret this

course of mine. Every person deserves a second life.
