Pedagogical Challenges: Educating for peace in Cyprus and Israel European University Cyprus Open University of Israel Taking into account the recent breakouts of interethnic violence around the world, we are interested in exploring the pedagogical challenges involved when trying to educate young people for peace. Drawing on two case studies of intractable conflicts, Israel and Cyprus, the colloquium aims to open up spaces of academic dialogue between scholars in these two contexts as well as to engage students and education practitioners with the challenges encountered in conflict-troubled contexts, providing both theoretical and practical insights. The event will include academic presentations in the morning and a seminar with teachers in the afternoon, where Jewish and Palestinian teachers will share their experiences.
