The Role of the Teacher in the Classroom

CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

This paper are particularly explains about teachers role in the classroom. What will I

discuss here are to define the variety of teachers role in the classroom and clarify some

examples of the teachers role based on the fact in the classroom. The aims of this paper are to

know about the fact of the teacher that they will face in the classroom because I know how to be

a good teacher is not easy and to understand how to manage the classroom.

Before we go further learn about the role of the teacher in the classroom it is important to

focus about what is the role mean. Role is the function or position that somebody has or is

expected to have in an organization, society, or relationship. That is the definition given by

Oxford Advanced Learner (2005), but in our daily lives we fulfill roles that have features of

these defining characteristics such as roles in society, school, relationship and etc. In the school

teacher plays a vital role to implement their method, idea, material, and technique. Schools are

one of the first places where the students behavior and future educational success is shape.

CHAPTER II

EXPLANATION

2.1 The Role of the Teacher in the Classroom

Teachers are carriers of either positive or negative behavior toward students. The reason

why the first years of school are so critical is because students learn the base of their

educational life.

In my opinion teachers are the second mothers for the students because students spend a

lot of time with their teachers and it can be said that the real teacher is the teacher who is

really trained and experienced through many years in the field. We know that mothers want

all the best for their kids to become a success person, some of the mothers also will give their

kids care, love, respect, and give a good facility at their home. Are these attitude of the

mother to their kids are same or related with the role of the teacher who teach the students in

the school?

2.1.1 Variety of teachers role in the classroom

1. Control the students

Although the teacher are the professional who is really experienced in the field,

but as the teacher they always need to be well prepared in the field the best they

can. Because in my opinion all the teachers who have prepared to teach will set up

rules in the class and probably have fewer problems in their classroom because

they are able to control the class.

2. Involve the students

Some teacher maybe only came to the class and stared teaching. But they didnt

involve with the students. That teacher is not concern about what is the students

were feeling. To make the students get involve in the class the teacher must give

them some questions. It is often to see the students maybe shy to talk, and the

teacher must give them a chance to participate in the class.

3. Responsible for the social behavior

Teacher carries a big responsibility in the class. Everything the teacher says will

impact the students behavior. If the teachers feel happy then the students will

also feel happy too. If the teachers laugh then the students will also laugh. If

something goes wrong it is not possible because of the teacher, because they

responsible with the class.

4. Be warm and protective

If the students feel happy in the classroom the result will be shown in their

academic progress. The teachers must shown one of their attitude to their students

and see the awareness of the student. The students also do the same so the teacher

can understand their attitude. It is a benefit for the teacher to break the ice. Maybe

in the first day the students will feel afraid to the teacher because they still dont

know about their teacher personality and it will change until the teacher and

students meet in the same point of interest.

5. Guides the student

Teacher need to show their respect to the student so the student will also give a

respect to the teacher. To do that, teacher should know that the students are in the

different tradition and different background. The key for the teacher is to

understand and accept the way of the students act. Therefore, teacher need to

create a curriculum that guide the students to path of success.

6. Encourage the student

As the teacher we must encourage the students from the problem that they have in

the school or outside the school. We must always give the students positive

support to keep their psychology or the students will not go to school because

they really afraid with their problem.

7. Pay attention to any suspicious things

As the teacher we have responsibility about what happened in the classroom.

Because sometimes, the behavior of the students tells us something is not right.

Deep in the students heart feeling they want the teacher to help them but they

afraid to ask the teacher. Sometimes teacher also must let the students what is the

teacher really feel so the students will change their mind and tell what happen.

8. Think about what are the students feeling

When we look back and be a student again and remember how the teachers teach

us we will realize some the students might have a problem with their teacher.

Thats why we need to think about the students feeling

9. Role of the students

Teachers are respect by society because they are knowledgeable. Teacher can be a

role model for the students because most of the teacher wants their students to be

a successful person and guide them with respect, love and care. Students know if

they have a problem they just need to ask the teacher, so they will learn in every

lesson that the teacher gives. It is normal when we make a mistake because we are

human, no body is perfect.

10. Provide good environment for the students

Giving a good environment will benefit the students and also the teacher because

as the teacher we need to make the students understand our lesson. Thats why we

have to be prepared. It is important to make the first year student learn about their

basic educational skill.

CHAPTER III

CONCLUSION

The teacher need to show respect, care, become role models, give a good environment,

and guide them to the road of success. The only who get benefits are the students and sometimes

it could be a negative or positive.
