Major International Management (25 ECTS):

Background and Objective of the Major in “International Business”:

• ESCP Europe aims at preparing you for international careers. Hence, this major provides you with the knowledge and skills which you need for operating in an international and global environment.

• Germany has proven to be not only a country with a very successful track record in exports. Germany is also home to many of the world’s most famous Multinational Corporations, such as Siemens, Volkswagen or Adidas. The Berlin campus of ESCP Europe, being well known for its research activities on the international dimension of business, has the objective to make you familiar with concepts and tools for developing strategies, leadership and marketing in theinternational and global context.

Background and Objective of the Major in “Sustainability/Environmental Management”:

• What is sustainability? “…sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs“ (Brundtland Commission of The United Nations, 1987).

• ESCP Europe is preparing future leaders for positions of responsibility. This major aims at complementing the focus of traditional management theory with questions and answers from sustainable management, corporate governance and business ethics.

• International Marketing (Prof. Dr. Robert Wilken)– The challenge of marketing in a globalized environment is to coordinate

marketing activities over many countries. This course teaches how to decide between a standardized and a differentiated marketing approach. Additionally, we get insight from internationally operating companies, covering new industries like digital music software, digital media, or online services.

Some Prejudices

• Classes are too difficult due to language barriers? NO!– Foreign students find German professors and staff very understanding and helpful.

– German internship in gap year, however, might be helpful.

– Extended German course has been implemented in September 2010.

• Courses are too theoretical? NO!– This view is only shared by very few students.

– Students emphasize the theoretical foundation plus the excellent business connections in Berlin: case studies, guest speakers, workshops, …

– A testimonial: „I have exactly learned the things I do need for the interviews in Banking“.

• Courses are too difficult? NO!– See following page.
