Whether you are a small farmer feeding one horse, or a full time farmer feeding a herd of cattle, Massey Ferguson's 1600 series has the tedder size that will fit your needs. The Massey Ferguson 1610 is a 10’ unit and the 1617 is a 17’ unit. The 1600 series tedders are built to be easy to use, yet reli-able. Overall the Massey Ferguson 1600 series tedders will do an excellent job assisting you with all of your hay fluffing needs.

INTRODUCTION

1610 Tedder

The Massey Ferguson 1610 tedder has two rotors for a 10’ tedding width. The 1610 is available as a pull type or three point mounted unit. The pull type unit requires 15 hp (11 kW), and the three point unit requires 20 hp (19 kW), plus enough front weight to handle the tedder during road transport.

1617 Tedder

The Massey Ferguson 1617 tedder has four rotors for a 17’ tedding width. It is available as a pull type or three point mounted unit. The pull type unit requires 20 hp (15 kW), and the three point unit requires 40 hp (30 kW), plus enough front weight to handle the tedder during road transport.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Three Point Hitch (Factory Option)

The three point hitch frame allows the tedder rotors to be quickly raised from the tractor seat for turning or transport. The hitch is designed to allow the tedder to float while in the operating position. A parking stand is standard, for easy hookup.

Pull Type Hitch (Factory Option)

The pull type hitch on the tedders allows the use of lower horsepower tractors, and tractors that don’t have a three point hitch. A clevis hitch is provided for easy tractor hookup. A jackstand is standard on this machine.

Torque Limiter Driveshaft

The driveshaft incorporates a torque limiter (slip clutch), and an overrunning clutch. The slip clutch helps protect the machine if it encounters an obstruction in the field, and the overrunning clutch allows the tedder to wind down after the PTO is turned off, protecting the driveline and tractor PTO clutch.

Heavy Duty Frame

The main frame is a heavy duty cast tubular design. Each side of the frame bolts to the center gearbox, forming a solid backbone, yet easy to disassemble for repairs. The 1617 frame also includes a sturdy wing pivot and wing frame, also of the cast tubular design.

Gearbox

The main gearbox is totally enclosed, and distributes power to both the right and left rotors. The gearbox housing is an integral part of the main frame, as it bolts to both the left and right half of the tubular frame. The gearbox uses SAE 140 gear oil, which is easily checked and maintained through plugs located on the rear and top of the gearbox

Rotor Gearsets

Each rotor utilizes a 90 degree pinion gearset to transmit the drive to the rotors. The pinion gears are lubricated with a grease zerk using multipurpose grease, for ease of maintenance.

Tine Savers

The tine savers prevent tine loss in the field. If a tine is broken, the tine saver will hold the broken piece, and not allow it to get lost in the field. The tine savers help prevent broken tines from damaging machines, or getting into cattle feed.

Rotor Tilt Adjustment (Pull Type Units Only)

A crank at the front of the machine is used to adjust the rotor tilt angle (The rotor tilt on the three point mounted units is done with the tractor top link). The crank can be locked in position, to prevent the rotor angle from changing.

Flotation Tires

Each rotor is supported by a 15-6.00 x 6, 6 ply flotation tire. The tire’s wide footprint allows the tedder to do a better job when working on wet ground.

Wing Fold Spring Assist (1617 Factory Option)

The spring assist reduces the effort to fold the wings.

Hydraulic Fold Wings (1617 Factory Option)

The hydraulic wing fold allows the operator to fold the tedder wings without leaving the tractor seat. A mechanical lock holds the wings in place for transport. A rope pull lock release allows the wings to be lowered. The raising and lowering of the wings is regulated by an orifice in the hydraulic line.

Wing Drive (1617 Only)

The wings of the 1617 are driven by a Double U-joint shaft on each side that allow the unit to fold without causing damage to the machine.

Fender Kit (For 1617 Tedder Only)

The Fender Kit helps prevent crop buildup between the inside wheels and the wheel spindles. This can occur in some heavy, wet crop conditions. Wholegoods Kit - 7069102 Estimated Installation Time - 1.0 Hr.
