Production MatteBox with Swing-Away Design, complete set for individual configuration with further accessories Swing-Away-Design for quick and easy lens change. Use of two, three or four filters combined with quick-lock filter stages. For bridge plates with 19 mm or 15 mm rods. Connecting diameters of 165 and 142.5 mm fit to Adaptors and Rubber Bellows for all Prime and Zoom lenses of Movie- and HD-Cine cameras. The set includes one large French Flag and adjustable side wings. The 1st filter stage is not detachable and carries the quick-lock; the second compartment of the set holds 3 filters in 2 stages; both stages rotate. The 2nd and the 3rd filter can be precisely positioned by a toothed gear. The 3rd and the 4th filter are located in one stage and can be moved against each other and rotated together. A flexible shaft and 4 filter holders are also part of the set. Optionally a set of 4 masks is available to optimise shading for lenses with longer focal length. For extreme wide angles, the MB602 is used with the additional single filter stage, rotatable, and with geared positioning. A further accessory for individual configuration is the double rotatable filter stage.

Production MatteBox with Swing-Away-Design, complete set with Double Filter Stage for 2 rotating filters Swing-Away-Design for quick and easy lens change. The quick-lock device allows an easy change of the Double- against the Triple Filter Stage. The swing-away bracket fits on Light Weight Supports with 15 mm rod diameter. The connecting diameter is 142.5 mm. Light protection rings (and step down rings respectively) are available for all prime and zoom lenses of film and SD / HD TV-cameras. The MatteBox comes with a large, foldable French Flag and 2 individually rotating filter-stages. The filter-holders are equipped with multi-format clamping. The first stage takes 4x5.65 vertical and 5.65x5.65 filter sizes, the second 4x5.65 vertical, horizontal and 5x5. Further options for individual use: The Triple Filter Stage (slightly limiting the wide angle range to 5.2 mm), Side-Wings and bottom French Flag Special Feature: The Clamp Adapter (∅ 130 mm) replaces the Swing-Away Bracket and makes the MatteBox a SunShade, the SD 840. Production MatteBox with Swing-Away-Design, starter set with Single Filter Stage Swing-Away-Design for quick and easy lens change. The built-in Single Filter Stage accommodates a further Single, Double or Triple Filter Stage through a quick-lock. All further stages rotate. All 150mm filter holders can be used. For use of the maximum angle of field*, we deliver and recommend the following set: The first fixed stage is equipped with a multi format filter holder for 4x4 and 4x5.650 filters. The additional single stage should be equipped with a 5x5 and 4x5.650 multi-format filter holder (FH 510-01). For the dual and triple-filter-stage, we recommend the 4x4 and 4x5.650 multi-format filter holder (FH 410-31). The swing-away bracket mounts on light weight supports with 15mm rods, or by means of adaptors to bridge plates with 15 or 19 mm rods. The connecting diameter is 142.5mm. Light prevention rings exist for all prime and zoom lenses of film and SD/HD TV-camera. A large foldable French Flag is part of the set. Side Wings are optional. For maximum stray light reduction, sets of mattes in the formats 4:3 and 16:9 are available. A package for 19mm support is also available. Production MatteBox for 15 mm support systems Includes a Double Filter Stage for filters up to 5.65x5.65 and 5x6” vertical. Both filters can be moved and fixed in any vertical positions, the second also rotates, depending on the used filter 360 ° or up to 240º. For optimum use of the picture angle, the first filter stage is equipped with a multi format filter-holder for 4x4 and 4x5.65” filters, the second with multi format filter-holder for 5x5 and 4x5.65” filters. Using 4x5.65” filters in the front stage and 5x5“ in the second, makes full use of the wide angle format for any position of the rotating stage. For even more flexibility when using e.g. graduation filters, insert 5x6” filters in the first stage (filter-holder 510-02). Special feature - a third stage inside the rubber bellows for round filters with 138mm of diameter. Not possible with 4,3/4.5mm zoom lenses, due to their front ring position. This MatteBox mounts on 15mm Lightweight Supports. The connecting diameter of 95mm fits the current wide angle zoom lenses. Choose also between two standard versions for 100 and 110 mm connection of light protection rings. The 39 cm wide French Flag is included in the standard package. Side-wings can be used optionally. For maximum stray light reduction, use mattes. Sets for 4:3 and 16:9 available.

Clamp-on Sunshade in three versions. The technical data of the three versions is identical except for the maximum clamp diameters (104 / 110 / 130 mm). The included Double Filter Stage takes filters up to 5.65x5.65“. Both filters slide vertically and can be fixed in any position, the second also rotates 250°. For optimal use of the picture angle, the filter-stages are equipped with multi format filter-holders for 4x4 and 4x5.65” filters in the first stage and, in the second, rotating multi format filter-holder for 5x5 and 4x5.65” formats. Insert 5x5“ filters and fully use the wide angle format in any position of the rotating stage. For even more flexibility when using e.g. graduation filters, insert 5x6” filters in the first stage (filter-holder 510-02). The connecting diameter of 104 mm and the respective Step-Down Rings fit most lenses. For the further two standard versions with 110 and 130mm clamp-on diameter various Step-down rings are available. The French Flag is included, Side Wings are optional. For maximum stray light reduction, sets of mattes for 4:3 and 16:9 formats are available. Tip: Check the correct positioning of the side wings when using super wide angle lenses to avoid vignetting.

Production MatteBox for cameras with 16x22mm chip or film format. Carbon-Design, lightweight and impact resistant. Lightweight and ultra compact, ideal for handheld shooting. But also no compromise due to the Triple-Rotating-Filterstage, equipped with 3 equally sized multiformat filter holders (510-01) 5x5” / 4x5.65”. True 14mm MatteBox - By using 5x5 filters, two rotate unrestrictedly and the first one can be rotated by 40°. The front stages (first and the second one respectively) are automatically held in place when the next further back is rotated. Special feature - This MatteBox mounts on 15mm Lightweight Supports and comes with a SunShade function. Starting with the clamp size of 130mm Ø, many step-down rings are available. With the clamp to 110mm thread adaptor (411-67), the wide choice of 110mm light prevention rings can be used. The intermediate ring 411-60 reduces the clamping diameter for the 110mm step-down rings. The Flexi-Insertring 130 (411-68) is another special light prevention ring which fits into the 130mm clamp adaptor and flexibly covers lenses between 95 and 125mm diameter. The 36 cm wide French Flag (402-26) is included in the standard package. Side-wings can be mounted optionally. Another option is the DSW® 500 Adaptor* which adds the swing away feature to the MatteBox 456 Academy.

Choose the MatteBox housing depending on your application. Any configuration mounts on the Double Filter Stage CF-MB/ST, which includes a multi format filter holder (410-31) for 4x4“ and 4x5.65“ filters in the first stage and, in the second, a rotating filter-holder (402-04) for 4x4“. Both filters slide vertically and can be fixed in any position, the second also rotates 240º. The Rubber Bellows adapts to the 100 mm ∅ (resp. 110 mm, CF-MB/ST110). The Step down Rings with 100/110 mm thread guarantee perfect fit to the lens. Without Rubber Bellows, use ∅ 142.5 mm and the respective light protection rings. The CWAH-1FC housing is designed for lenses up to 5.2 mm focal length and max. 4.5 mm, provided only the first filter is used with Insert-Ring 410-55, 100:95 mm. The set comes with the French Flag and the Insert Matte for 16:9. Side-Wings and Bottom French Flag are optional. Use the CBH-S16 housing with bellows and moving matte for the Super 16 / 16:9 formats. French Flag and a set of Side Wings are included. The maximum wide angle focal length is 5.2mm (referring to 2/3“HD). The housing CWAH-FV has 16:9 / S16 format. It covers wide angle up to 5.2 mm focal length (S16=7, S35=12, SD=4.8) and is the most economic combination. The French Flag is included. Optional side wings and bottom French Flag can be added.

Clamp-on SunShade for lens diameters up to 104 mm. The Double Filter Stage takes 4x4” filters. Both filter holders slide vertically and can be fixed in any position, the second also rotates 160º. The housing is designed for a focal length of 5.2 mm. If used with only the first fixed filter holder and in combination with the special step-down ring 411-31 (104 to 95 mm), shots up to 4.5 mm focal length are possible. The connecting diameter of 104 mm and the respective step-down rings fit many lenses. The set comes with two filter holders, a French Flag and the 16:9 Matte. Safe and convenient support for handheld shooting The special HD Light Weight Supports safely take the handles through the extra ridged rod clamping and base plate. The heavy-duty aluminium rods have 15 mm standard diameter and 205 mm of length. The V-mount is compatible to the camera’s tripod adapter. For stable connection to the tripod and quick and easy change from handheld to tripod use, we suggest our patented QuickLock Plate (s. page 26). The Handgrips are extensible and adjustable in any direction and angle. The set comprises one short grip for the left camera side and a long twice adjustable grip for the right side. The latter is equipped with a start/stop knob for Broadcast cameras when using prime or cine-style lenses. Optional a further extension for the left grip is available. Support system for the 15mm standard - for MatteBoxes, lens supports, follow focus devices, fluid-zoom drives, wireless focus receivers and motors. The light-weight supports are equipped with rod holder for height and lateral adjustment. The base plate is made of hardened aluminium. The V-shaped connection on the bottom is compatible with the tripod adapters supplied by the camera manufacturer. The high-strength aluminium rods correspond to the 15 mm standard (rod diameter 15mm, rod centre-to-centre spacing 60 mm) and have a length of 205 mm. As an option super lightweight carbon fibre rods or the telescopic rods VariTube® are available. The patented QuickLock tripod adapter plate: for quick and easy, play-free camera connection Suitable for all cameras which are equipped with wedge plate connections (V-mount) in the front and a mounting bracket behind the shoulder support. The Chrosziel QuickLock plate clamps the camera automatically and easily, and even after decades of use, still works perfectly thanks to its patented mechanics: pressure on the wedge plate and traction on the camera‘s mounting bracket. It protects against unintentional opening, but the camera can still be quickly and easily removed in a flowing movement. On the bottom, two slot nuts with a 1/4 and 3/8 inch thread slide over a large area to fix onto a tripod or the bridge plates. In combination with the bridge plates, adjustment to the centre of gravity on the tripod is very easy. The plates come with 19 mm stainless steel rods (video standard). All accessories for the 15mm light-weight supports fit by means of an adaptor. For video cameras with different optical axes, bridge plates are specially adapted. For the use of film accessories on video cameras, a special version adjusts optical axes. This version is based on 15mm stainless steel rods.

Studio Rig Follow Focus, versions for video and film lenses. For smooth and precise focus moves due to our fluid damping module and gear units and bearings with the lowest tolerances: It allows play and jerk-free focus moves even for permanent direction changes. We abstain from using switchable gear boxes for the sake of play-free preciseness. Instead, we use two gear boxes for the different focus markings of film and video lenses. Film lenses, prime lens and “Cine style” video lenses typically display an adjustable range of 200º from close-up to infinity. The Studio Rig Cine translates the rotation on the hand wheel in a way to lens focus ring that approx. one turn covers the range. The focus of the video lenses rotate only approx. 100º to 145º between close-up and infinity. For similar operation and preciseness, the Studio Rig Video’s gear unit extends the resulting angle of rotation of the video lenses. Further adjustments are made by the use different gear diameters. All gear drives can be easily mounted without tools. The three modules of the lens manufacturers are available. The Studio Rig basic unit comes with hand wheel 1 with fluid damper, scale ring and focus lever and clamping unit for the 15 mm video standard (see p. 26, with adaptor for 19mm rods). Please select the gear drive according to your lens. The QuickFit Versions. They slip onto the rods from below – no need to dismantle other accessories. Fixed by the turn of an excenter, the focus gear swings onto the lens – ready! They come with an interface for the 19mm rod adaptor. Soon will be available a VariLock Module, with easy setting of two mechanical stops for (S3D) monitoring the picture while focussing. The VariLock Module can be attached without tools between the gear and the hand wheel or instead of the second hand wheel.

Two viewfinder designs for the different types of viewfinders With ACVF System, the Sony HDVF-C30W(R) viewfinder either mounts directly on either side of the camera, or it can be conveniently positioned on a lateral rod when required for the shooting situation. Additionally the system replaces the original Sony eyepiece and the mirror housing. The eyepiece picture is twice as large as the original and has a higher contrast. Eye relief is 30 mm. When using on the lateral rod, a levelling arm and a long monitor cable are required. For the Sony HDVF-C35W viewfinder which came on the market together with the F23, we have developed a HD Cine extension, which also puts this viewfinder on the right or left side of the F23 and F35 cameras. The original eyepiece is replaced by a version which works without a mirror before the monitor. An adaptor clicks eyepiece and monitor together. For the lateral rod, a levelling arm and a long monitor cable are required. Optionally the 16x9 eyepiece shutter “Shut Eye” can be fitted.

The 6 MatteBoxes in the 450 series perfectly meet the requirements of shooting with compact camcorders. All models fit the 15 mm Lightweight Supports on the basis of the 401-400. All filters can be moved vertically and fixed in all positions, all filters are also rotating. They come ready for shooting, with multi-format filterholders 410-04 (for 4x4” and 4x5.65”) and 402-12 (4x4”) for the rear stage, including French Flag and Front Mask**. The standard model MB 450R2, comes with a double filterstage, the MB 450R3 offers a triple one (F max.=3.3 mm). With the MB 450WSuper Wide both filter stages have identical multi-format filterholders 410-31 for 4x4” and 4x5.65” filters which freely can be rotated when using super wide angle lenses up to 2.6 mm focal length (no mask included). And it comes with an additional clamp-on-adaptor, Ø130 mm. For cameras with interchangeable lenses, the DSW Direct-Swing-System offers an unparalleled comfort for quick and easy lens change. It can be factory fitted or added on by the user. For light prevention, choose between fixed rings for each individual lens, or 2 flexible rings for lens diameters from 50 to 85 mm, respectively 75 to 98 mm. Fixed rings have the advantage to automatically position the lens to the MatteBox.

The MatteBox 450R2 and 450W Kits comprise the LWS Light-Weight-Supports with base 401-400 and a Light-Prevention-Ring fitting to the standard lens. The same applies to the version for the Panasonic AG-3DA1 with the MB 456 Academy. The MatteBox 456 Academy Kits comprise the LWS HD with a second rod stabilizer and split aluminum rods with 15 mm diameter. The basic rod has the length of 310 mm. There is an extension with 190 mm. The CF Kits comprise Chrosziel carbon fibre rods with 15 mm Ø and 500 mm length instead of the aluminum rods. As light cover, these kits come with the Flexi–Light-Prevention-Ring, 411-68, for lens diameters from 95 to 125 mm. CMB-R10, single rotating stage – CMB-R20, double rotating stage for 4x4 size filters.

The CMB-R10 is a SunShade with a rotating single filter stage, designed for 4x4” filters. All filter positions for all lenses and all current wide-angle converters are possible without vignetting. The CMB-R20 is equipped with a double rotating stage for 4x4” filters. When used with wide-angle converters, only the rear filter holder rotates (wide-angle converter for 1/3” F=3.3 mm / ½” F=5mm). Both filters can be positioned unrestrictedly up to 4.2 mm focal length (1/3”); respectively up to 6.2 mm focal length for the ½” XDCAM lenses. The connecting diameter of 110 mm takes all currently used wide-angle converters. The SunShade clamps on standard lenses with a step-down ring or is fixed with a screw-in ring.

At only 421 gr., this universal SunShade is a super lightweight, and, with its two 4x4” filter holders and the especially large French Flag ready for shooting. Two “packages” are available, 440-02 with the standard filter holder (see ill.). For cameras with interfering microphone or hand grip, the model 440-03 has filter holders with a short shaft that can be positioned from below. The first filter slides horizontally; the second also rotates 170°. The clamp mount takes lenses with a maximum diameter of 104 mm. Step-down rings as well as adaptor rings with thread mounts for the lens filter thread are also available.

The Center Adapter connects the 440 with the light-weight supports.

This smallest of the SunShade line is suitable for normal focal lengths up to a slight wide-angle especially with SD and 16mm film. The first filter slides horizontally, the second also rotates 170°. The basic version includes two 3x3” filter holders. The S1001-CB package already comes with an adapter for use on 15 mm light-weight supports (see ill.). The clamp mount takes a lens with a maximum diameter of 85 mm. Step-down rings and adapter rings with thread mounts for the lens filter thread are available, as well as a French Flag as accessory.

The follow focus device for DV and HDV camcorders is compact, light and fits on the 15mm Lightweight Supports. The scale is easy to change and can also be read by the camera operator. The reference marking can be adjusted for the operator or the assistants. Gear drives and gear rings for the different lenses ensure precise adjustments and optimal use of the lens’ adjustable angle. Lenses with built-in gear rings can of course also be focused.

DV Studio Rig, follow focus device with fixed hand wheel. Please order the respective gear drive and, if required, the gear ring for the lens.

Studio Rig Photo, follow focus device with reverse gear for photo lenses. By loosening the nut one can mount the gears on the other side as well. Please note! With most lenses for the full format (EOS 5D MK II) the focus rotation is as with video lenses. Nikon lenses mostly turn opposite.

The VariLock® feature of the Rigs now allows both, since the range of rotation is fully variable for any selectable limit. From a distant starting point which is set with the Autofocus, the nearer second focus position is set manually and marked by a stopper. The maximum rotation angle is 320°. This range covers most applications of cameras with electronic focus control. In addition, the camera operator himself can precisely control and reproduce the focus settings even without an assistant. Both stoppers are covered with soft rubber for silent operation.

HDV Rig VariLock®: For precise repeatability of focus settings for cameras with Autofocus or electronic focus control. There are two problems for manual focus control of these cameras: 1- avoid the loss of reference points especially at the borders of the settable focus range, infinity and macro, to achieve repeatable setting 2- manage the variation of ranges, because the range – and the resulting rotation angle – varies depending on focal length setting of the built-in zoom lens.

The DV Balancer® comfortably places camcorders with built-in viewfinders in front of the eye leaving the hands free for camera control. Shoulder support for cameras up to 4 kg, adjusts vertically and horizontally allowing the user to view the viewfinder eyepiece. The weight of the camera will be absorbed by the shoulder pad and the chest rest leaving the hands free to control the camera. The camera attachment allows a direct “docking” on all Chrosziel light-weight supports of the 401-4xx series, additional to the 1/4” fastening screw and rubber cushion. For transporting, the chest rest and shoulder unit are separated. The so-called “Memory Clip” stores the individual adjustment, for immediate re-installation after unpacking.

connection to the DV Balancer®.

HandleBars proVideo (Art.-No. 403-10/20)

The HandleBars proVideo fit to all LightWeight Support of Chrosziel series 401-4xx but also to all other supports wit 15mm rods. For cameras without a built-in shoulder pad, for example all VDSLR cameras, the ShoulderPad proVideo (Art.-No. 3035) is added. It slides into the base of the support series 401-400 in the same way as the DV Balancer®. The fast changing between shoulder and tripod is maintained. The padded shoulder rest with the clamp for 15 mm rods is also available as a single unit, named CurvedPad 15.

For cameras without shoulder pad the VarioPad 15 clamps instead on all 15 mm rods. (Art.-Nr. 3034)

Wireless remote dimmer for head light / on-board-light.

Colibri controls the head light of the “suspended cameras” and each mobile DMX dimmer from the lighting console. The transmitter takes in the control input of the DMX board, changes it into a digital data package and transmits the setting to the receiver with built-in dimmer. All tungsten lights of up to 75 watts can be connected to the dimmer. The necessary control voltage for the LED lights from Litepanel is also accessible from the receiver, so that the LED light’s internal dimmer also is controlled. An 8-pin jack is available on the receiver, thus providing the option to control remotely other manufacturers’ LED lights in the future. At this jack, the DMX signal of the set address is available, too. With this, lights which are mounted at wider distance or high above the scene can be remote-controlled. Although the control of the light controller from the DMX signal is the main use, there is also the possibility to set the dimmer manually using a potentiometer from the transmitter and on the camera (receiver). This should be seen, initially as an emergency feature, but can also be used intentionally. If there is no DMX signal for the transmitter, this switches to manual and a blue LED light on the potentiometer shows its activity. If the transmitter is switched off or there is no RF signal at the receiver for other reasons, its potentiometer adjusts the brightness. All DMX addresses from 1 to 512 can easily be set decimally on three scales. The same radio modules are used as with the lens control Aladin. This means that the same frequencies are available and because the “language” is otherwise the same, the Colibri receiver/dimmer can be operated by an Aladin remote control, too.

Transmitter and receiver are equipped with the same controls.

Aladin is the user-friendly remote control. Carry out automatic calibration of the lens parameters at the beginning of shooting – switch off, reconfigurate or change the battery – switch on again and resume the shooting. All settings are done through menus and push button or joy stick. The OLED colour display still operates at -20°C/-4°F. These advantages are especially appreciated in practice. Collimation: Autoreflex and CamCollimator. Measuring at ∞

Two types are available. For daily use in film and video equipment rentals and service, the CamCollimator preferable because the user is not dependent of the individual observation and delivers objective, precise measurement values quickly and simply. With this time-proven process, the sharpness of the picture is no longer the adjustment criteria, but rather the symmetrical position of a simple beam between a double bar.

The Universal CamCollimator is available now in a new compact version. Optionally it can come with a second sliding platform for checking cameras without conversions. The base unit comes with one platform which holds a lens or a camera. The autocollimator holder can slide, swivel and is mounted on a spindle drive for height adjustment to measure the back focal length on cameras and lenses. The set up (1000 mm only) is much more compact in structure then the previous optical bench, offers a significant reduction in weight, space needs and results in an optimal price/performance ratio. A LED illumination, colour selector for green and white, camera, LCD monitor and plane glass are included. Lens mount adaptors are selected as required. The classical Autoreflex Collimator with eyepiece and Siemens star is recommended if there is a limited budget and measurements must only be taken occasionally. As using the same optical bench with height adjustability cameras can also be measured in addition to lenses.

The new projector MK5 offers even more precision than its predecessor. The guide block for slide holder, produced for us by the specialist Schneeberger, now has a length of 53 mm almost twice the capacity as the previous model. Therefore: Over the entire sliding range the sled is guided 100%. In order to ensure that the entire tolerances remain in the μ-range and by this become irrelevant for precise measurement of the lens, the entire unit is again centred and parallelized after its assembly by using a CNC machining centre. Mounts with glass way for SD and HD video as well as the different photo and cine lenses are available. We recommend the remote control because it makes it possible to be near the projector screen at an optimal distance to focus the picture. The MTF Star Sensor and MTF Star software offer a new and unique way to analyze optical performance. Together they turn any Chrosziel projector into a powerful MTF and color aberration evaluation tool. Developed through a partnership between IB/E and Chrosziel, the MTF Star allows you to perform visual projection tests and view the results electronically in the form of pictures, graphs and tables. The data can then be saved for future reference, shared remotely with colleagues as pdf files, printed and kept with the lens as protocol, or used for presentation and comparison. New measuring method (patent pending) Previous measuring procedures were based solely on visual inspection. A line structure on a test chart designed for the resolution of the intended format was projected and scanned by a sensor. The resulting MTF value was displayed as a percentage of the maximum resolution required by the format. The test chart had line structures for both SD and HDTV resolutions. The MTF Star uses a totally different and unique method. A camera with a lens optimized for very close field is focused on a projected Siemens star, whose size may vary from approximately 12 to 24mm (maximum). The difference in star sizes – from the original test chart to the projected size – makes the task of sensing resolution very easy with the handheld MTF Sensor. To measure a resolution of 100 lp / mm, the sensor only has to resolve 1 lp/mm. Even skeptics will admit this is a doable task.

The computer displays the picture being measured, the digitized Siemens star of the measured position, as graphs the lateral color error and the MTF value between 20 to 100 lp/mm. In the pdf reports additionally a table is printed with individual MTF values of white, red, green and blue for 20 to 100 lp/mm in steps of 5. For selection between quick reference and deeper analysis the user may select “white only” and “RGB”. In selection “white” the software averages the RGB values into one value. Test slides for all HDTV formats and film / digital cinematography are available. More functions:

Automated reporting of guided measurement When a lens is checked horizontally and diagonally at various positions, the program guides the user through the procedure. The report shows a table and graph of all measurement results; however, each value can also be displayed individually. Several measurement procedures come preset within the MTF Star: the EBU standard, “CROSS ONLY”, “DIAGONAL ONLY”, AND “CROSS DIAGONAL”. More procedures can be defined by the user. For example, a QUICKCHECK could be established for the routine measurement of only 4 critical positions.
