To determine my topic, I wanted to pick something that was interesting to me. This way I would be more into my research. I have always been interested in space, and it is also something that is going on in current day history.

To begin my research, I started with learning about the conflict between the United States and Russia during the Cold War. I then began to read about how the U.S and Russia came together to work on the ISS even after their differences. As my research went on, I was able to find high quality pictures from the ISS and also detailed videos that explain my topic very well.

Trying to pick my presentation category was the difficult part. I wanted to pick something that would show off my topic in many aspects. This is how I picked a website. I would be able to list facts and explain how it came about, but also show videos, play music, and use many pictures.

In my research, I have learned the leadership of the ISS is very important. It has played a role in international collaboration of two countries that were once at war. They were able to overcome that and build something great. It has also opened many windows for new research and education. The ISS is still manned and used today. Overall, this is how and why I picked the International Space Station for my National History Day topic.
