Priyadarshini J. L. College of Engineering organized a National Level Seminar under
IQAC Cell on “STUDENT CENTRIC LEARNING: APART FROM CHALK & TALK” in
collaboration with National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) on 24-01-2019.
The main aim of this seminar was to instill awareness among all academicians about
Student Centric Learning apart from the traditional Chalk & Talk method.This seminar
received huge response by 175 participants from various corners of India covering wide
persona’s of Technical fraternity, Directors, Principals, IQAC Coordinators, teaching
faculties, Librarians under one roof.
This informative and interactive seminar was inaugurated by the auspicious presence
of Chief Guest, Hon. Abhijeet Deshmukh,Director, Lokmanya Tilak Jankalyan Shikshan
Sanstha, Nagpur.He enthralled the audience by his influential address.After the
inauguration of the event Dr. C. M. Jadhao, Principal, Mauli Group of Institutions, College
of Engineering and Technology, Shegaon, Maharashtra shared his expertise on the
topic,“ICT based Effective Teaching-Learning”. He imparted the significance of the
implementation of ICT based techniques in teaching learning. He expressed that all
students centric things should be quality based. Moreover, he emphasized the power of
compilation of data to enhance the quality of institute.Other key points discussed in
seminar were ICT can bring efficiency, effectiveness in education, networking,
collaborations, innovation and extensions, research and development. Dr Jadhav further
suggested that our curriculum should be accordingly designed.
Another resource person, Dr. Mahendra D. Shirsat,Professor and Head,Department of
Electronics,Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad , Maharashtra
aptly guided the participants on the topic,“ Student Centric Learning ”. He revealed the
importance of R & D, innovations and extension, holistic development of students,
inculcating skills through curriculum, strategies related to skill oriented capacity building
courses, technology transfer. Further, he explained “outcome based education” by giving
valuable tips for measuring learning outcomes. .Other key points discussed in seminar were,
student centric sound pedagogical approaches,empowering online technologies, problem
based learning.
This was followed by the enlightening address of another resource person Dr A.M.
Shende , Principal PJLCE, Nagpur.He adroitly expressed his views on the topic “ Student
Centric Learing according to NAAC Key Aspects ”. He delineated that, student centric
learning is a demand of time.Thus, Interactive learning through ICT based techniques,
collaborative learning, quiz competition and independent learning should be practiced
by the students.Besides, he said NAAC gives special attention to these specifications which
is vivid in the SSR too.Other key points discussed by him were, Add-on-courses,value
added courses , diploma and certificate courses, value based education,VET,IPR etc
The Informative seminar was followed by question answers session where in participants
candidly ask their queries to the experts and got apt and satisfactory replies. This was
then followed by the valedictory function wherein Mrs A.D. Kadam, Organizing Secretary,
IQAC, very remarkably summarized the conference report. Later it was followed by the
feedback session of the participants who gave their overwhelming responses about the
seminar. Seminar was further proceeded with the certificate distribution to the participants
and concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. R.Jogekar. Meticulous planning and hard
work of all faculty members made this event a grand success.
