LESSON ONE:

The Restoration of Prophets and the Prophetic Gift

We are in a most exciting time in History! God has released His gifts to the Church and we are seeing the Restoration of the New Testament Church. Not only are we seeing the fivefold ministry offices emerge, we are seeing an unleashing of power that is leading us back to the fullness of power that was released in the Upper Room 2000 years ago!

On the Day of Pentecost, the fullness of the Holy Spirit in the church was poured out. Beginning with the Reformation and Martin Luther, the church has been working her way back to what it was intended after Pentecost.

Progressive RevelationFact: The world is changing every 3-5 yearsFact: The Church is only changing every 30-50 years

Movement: New revelation is releasedMaintenance: No new revelation is received, just status quoMonument: Stagnation has set in, we visit where there once was a movement and remember “when”Museum: A place where people look at dead relics

We need to create a new mindset in order to stay progressive. There must be a paradigm shift!

Progressive Stages of Change

Revelation Reformation Restoration TransformationMindsets are established by:Past experiencesPast educationPast associations

We must renew our minds by:Exposure to new experiencesNew education

New associations

Restoration Theology Matthew 17:10-11

Beginning 1517 – Martin Luther

Five Restoration MovementsProtestant, Holiness, Pentecostal, Charismatic, and Prophetic/Apostolic

1500 Protestant Movement - Reformation begins. Salvation by grace through faith1600 Reformation Movement – Office of Teacher emerges. Doctrinal foundations are established

1700 Holiness Movement – Sanctification and holiness; First Great Awakening. Office of Pastor emerges.

1900 Pentecostal Movement – Holy Spirit baptism with tongue and Spiritual Gifts. Azuza Street

1950 Latter Rain Movement- Prophetic Presbytery, praise and worship music begins1950 Evangelism Movement- Office of Evangelist emerges. Mass evangelism1970 Faith Movement – Confessions of faith, prosperity message is introduced

1980 Prophetic Movement – Office of Prophet emerges. Activation of the revelatory gifts 1990 Apostolic Movement – Office of Apostle emerges. Proper order for Church Government is restored

Results of the Prophetic Movement

1. The office of Prophet was restored2. Activation of spiritual gifts 3. Warfare and Intercession was embraced and released4. Prophets were sent to the nations5. Prophetic Evangelism to individuals6. Equipping the saints for the work of ministry7. A precursor to the Apostolic emergence

When the Five Fold Ministry is restored in its entirety, there will be a release of the glory of God’s power that is yet to be seen! We must recognize that each generation must step into the next level that God presents them in order to see the church restored to its full power!

Four Dimensions of Prophetic Ministry

Four Dimensions of Prophetic Ministry are: Spirit of Prophecy Gift of Prophecy Prophetic Mantle Prophet (Office or Equipping Gift)

House (church) Prophet Prophet of City or Region National Level Prophet Prophet to the Nations.

Defining each of the Four Dimensions of Prophetic Ministry

Spirit of Prophecy: Spirit or Role – A role is an activity prescribed by the Bible in which Every Christian should participate.

“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of Prophecy.” Revelation 19:10“You all may prophesy, so that all may be encouraged.” I Corinthians 14:31

Gift of Prophecy: A spiritual endowment and empowerment, a miraculous faculty (charismata=gift) that is for the purpose of hearing the voice of God and bringing edification, exhortation, and comfort to others. Spiritual gifts are given to a few who are called to go deeper into a particular Christian Role and operate in the ministry of that role as a Spiritual Gift.

“He who prophesies speaks edification, and exhortation, and comfort to men.” I Corinthians 14:3 “There are diversities of gifts (empowerments), but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries (the way we express the gifts) , but the same Lord, and there are diversities of activities (different levels of power), but it the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings, to another working of miracles, to another prophecy, etc. “

I Corinthians 12:4 -10

Page 6: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

Prophetic Mantle: The stage of development where the gift is rapidly increasing and the person is in a stage of training and development before emerging into the office. Example: Elijah and Elisha

Stages of Development:

1. Touched by the mantle

2. Serving the mantle

3. Walking with the mantle

4. Receiving the mantle

5. Demonstrating the mantle

Office of Prophet: A Prophet is chosen and called by God Himself to be His spokesperson. Examples: Samuel (heard the voice of God in the temple), Elisha (chosen by Elijah to receive his mantle under the direction of God), Jeremiah (chosen before birth), Ezekiel (received his calling through the vision God gave him). In addition to a Prophet being a spokesperson for God, a Prophet is called by God to train, equip, prepare, model and release others in Prophecy.

Prophet – HebrewNabi – From a root word that means to “bubble forth like a fountain” and to “utter “Spokesperson of God; Seerer, Messenger, Watchman.

Prophet-Greek Prophetes- (pronounced prophaytays) One who is called by God to be a foreteller, bring an inspired word of God, and to interpret the oracles of God.

God is stirring us to move to this next level, so that we can bring the church into the season that God has intended!

One of the misconceptions that I seem to encounter over and over again is that someone thinks they are a Prophet simply because they have had a prophetic word of two. That does not make them a prophet, it makes them a prophesier. It is necessary that we develop some standards that set the qualifications for a prophet. If we were going to appoint someone as a pastor, we would require them to a set of standards.

15 Qualification of a Prophet1. More than an anointing, it is an appointment by God2. Character qualifications of an elder (I Timothy 3:1-7)3. Operating accurately in the gift of prophecy4. Having public speaking ability5. Able to teach others

6

Page 7: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

6. Operating in an anointing for impartation of the prophetic gift7. Able to govern alongside apostles and pastors (Ephesians 2:20)8. An established record of accuracy over an extended period9. Their words must carry an authority, in addition to accuracy10. Must have a constant flow of divine revelation11. Must be recognized by church authorities12. Must understand how to operate in order13. Must be a visionary14. Must be able to implement the vision 15. Must be able to exhibit leadership abilities

The Function of Modern Day Prophets Training people to hear God for themselves Helping people to find and live in God’s will Instruction, training, equipping, and releasing in the gift of prophecy Helping churches establish the correct function and protocol for

prophetic ministry Acting as a catalyst within the church to make things happen Making ready a people for the Lord Working in a governing relationship with the apostles, as well as the

other five-fold ministry gifts Foundation laying ministry in the church Includes both fore-telling and forth-telling Commissioned Prophets have the right to prophesy correction,

direction, guidance, and to bring new revelation to a person, church, or nation.

Helping to reveal the calling and purposes of God Bringing an inspired “thus saith the Lord” word Helping to discern the tactics of the enemy Helping to give direction and a now word to the church Discern and bring us to a new spiritual level as a corporate body Prophet ministry is one of cause and effect, pulling down and

building up

Old Testament vs. New Testament Prophecy

The ______________ of OT Prophets/Prophecy and NT Prophets/Prophecy

Similarities1. Were both raised up by God 2. Both spoke the mind of God3. Purpose of both was ministry for the benefit of the people

Page 8: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

Differences1. Different Covenant The Law vs. Grace2. Different Cultures Ancient Near East vs. Modern West3. Different Congregation Israel vs. Modern Church4. Different Correction Death vs. Education

The ___________________ of Prophets/Prophecy in the New Testament 1. To announce the initiation of the new seasons of the Lord for the church2. To guide individuals in their decision making3. To gain direction in ministry4. To select individuals for ministry5. To proclaim an important message to the church6. To serve as a sign and testimony of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit7. To warn the church and individuals of impending danger8. To impart spiritual gifts9. To reveal the secrets of people’s hearts10. To edify, encourage, and comfort the saints

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry.” Ephesians 4:11-12

The Prophet must work with both pastors and apostles! We will study the Pastor/Prophet relationship in subsequent lessons. Tonight, we will focus on the Prophet/ Apostle Relationship.

The Prophet –Apostle Relationship

Must share the same vision Must both be Kingdom minded and motivated Must have mutual respect Must not be competitive Peer level relationship Prophets submit to Apostles Prophets hear from God Apostles judge, strategize, and execute the word They complement one another Have a connected call to ministry Must be team player

LESSON TWO:

THE GIFT OF PROPHECY

“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant” I Corinthians 12:1

“Let all things be done decently and in order” I Corinthians 14:40

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams…” Acts 2:17

10

Page 11: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

It is vital that we understand that prophecy is available for everyone- Regardless of your age, your gender, your maturity level. YOU CAN ALL PROPHESY!

“For you may all prophesy, one by one, that all may learn and all may be comforted.” I Corinthians 14:31

“Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.” I Corinthians 14:1

What is Prophecy?

With the anointing of the Holy Spirit, each believer has the ability to hear from God and then express the Words, the Will, the Way, the Heart and the Mind of God.

Words – What He says Will – What He desires Way – Where He leads Heart – How He feels Mind- What He thinks

Prophesy is basically Hearing from _________, Speaking to _________.

Prophecy is God speaking through a person by actions or words. It comes from the mouth of man, but originates from the mind of God.

Three definitions of Prophecy

1. ____________________ (Greek) - Speaking forth the mind and counsel of God. To foretell, to predict To forth tell, to speak a truth under inspiration

2. ____________________ (Hebrew) – To ooze, to fall in drops, to preach. 3. __________________ (Hebrew) – To speak or sing by inspiration and prediction.

To bubble up To flow forth

“Out of your heart (belly) will flow rivers of living water.”John 7:38

Aspects of Prophecy and Prophetic Ministry

1. A gift from God that we receive by faith

Page 12: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

The gift of prophecy can be used by anyone provided they are: A born again believer Filled with The Holy Spirit Open to moving in the supernatural

2. A gift from God that can be asked for and increased

3. Given to whomever and however God chooses The Spirit of Prophecy – Role The Gift of Prophecy The Office of Prophet

4. Never about the person giving the word – It is always about God speaking the word and the person receiving the word.

5. Never leaves the person feeling hopeless, confused, rejected or ashamed.

6. . It is a NOW word – Rhema wordLogos – written word, The Word of GodRhema – spoken word, a prophetic word, a word for a specific timeThe Rhema word will never contradict the Logos word!

“Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you many prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him, however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification, encouragement (exhortation) and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” Paul – I Cor. 14:1-4

Three Elements of Prophecy

_______________ To build up the believer in their spiritual life To increase the believer’s faith and trust in God To fortify the believers relationship with Christ

_______________ (Encouragement) To stir up the believer from a stagnant stage To prompt and urge to go forward Keeps the believer from straying away from God To prompt a progressive walk with God

_______________ To come along side (paraklete) To walk closely with another It is a comfort and consolation in times of trouble

12

To link arms and go to battle

❖ All prophetic ministry should operate within the purposes of the above three areas.

❖ The nature of prophetic ministry should reflect the area of your responsibility and should never extend beyond the realm of your authority.

AUTHORITY COMES FROM RESPONSIBILITY,NOT FROM REVELATION

The Operation of Prophetic Ministry

Four dimensions of prophetic ministry1. The Spirit of Prophecy (Role and Activity)2. The Gift of Prophecy3. The Prophetic Mantle4. The Office of Prophet

The _______________ of Prophecy: The spiritual condition of an atmosphere that is conductive to the speaking forth of God’s word, not based upon gifting or office. Every believer can and should function at this level of revelation.

The _______________ of Prophecy: A gift is a divine gratuity; a spiritual endowment and empowerment; a spiritual qualification; miraculous faculty (charismata-gift).

Coming in the form of an impression (feeling) Coming in the form of a word Coming in the form of a still small voice Coming in the form of an internal audible voice Coming in the form of an audible voice Coming in the form of a sermon or teaching (dark sayings, parable, riddle) Coming in the form of a vision Coming in the form of a picture Coming in the form of a dream Coming in the form of a movement or gesture Coming in the form of our senses Coming in the form of a trance Coming in the form of an angelic visitation Coming in the form of being caught up in the Spirit Coming in the form of a visitation from the Lord Coming in the form of a word of knowledge Coming in the form of a word of wisdom Coming in the form of discerning of spirits

Lesson Five and Lesson Six:

HOW GOD SPEAKS

God is a communicating God! God loves to communicate with His people (Proverbs 20:12) God desires that every Believer hear from Him regularly God gave us spiritual ears and eyes to hear from Him regardless of age, sex,

and maturity God gives us Rhema word to personalize the Logos word

16

Page 17: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

Prophecy is _______________ from God – _______________ to men.

There are three major components of a prophetic word:

1. _______________ – What you see, hear, and/or feel

2. _______________ – Who is speaking and what is the meaning

3. _______________ – Why God is speaking and what to do about it

Revelation

Revelation is a byproduct of knowing God. Gifting is the ability and potential to receive revelation. You cannot know what He says until you know Him.

To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear His voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them: and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. John 10:3-4

Different Forms of ___________________

Dreams – Dreams are moving pictures we receive while sleeping. They may be literal or symbolic. Genesis 28:11-12; Matthew 2:12; Genesis 15:12-13. Types of dreams:

Literal- Actual events that happen that correspond to the dream

Page 18: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

Symbolic – Allegories and parables. Objects, people, colors, numbers and actions are symbolic in nature.

Repetitive – Having the same dream repeatedly. God is trying to get your attention and emphasize His message.

Progressive – Dreams added to and built upon over a period of time. Visitation – The Lord or an angelic being visits you in a dream. Nightmares – From demonic influence or our soulish realm.

Visions – Visions are moving pictures we receive while being awake. They may be literal or symbolic. They may be experienced in a group setting. Acts 7:56; Acts 10:3.

Hearing the Voice of God – I Samuel 3:10; Isaiah 6:8; Revelation 1:101. Still small voice – A soft and gentle thought or voice2. Internal audible voice – Loud voice inside your mind interrupting your thoughts 3. External audible voice – Actually hearing God with your physical ears. They may be experienced with others.

Picture – An image or a scene seen in your mind. Jeremiah 1:11.

Impression – Perception or a knowing in your spirit. Matthew 9:36; II Corinthians 1:4.

Senses – May experience a physical sensation, smell, taste. May also sense a soulish sense that the person is experiencing i.e. Peace, joy, depression, etc. Isaiah 16:11; Jeremiah 4:19.

Parable – God may speak mysteries in parables, riddles, dark sayings, and play on words. Luke 8:4-18.

Prophetic gesture – God may speak through a bodily movement. Hosea 1:2; Acts 21:11.

Word of Knowledge – A specific fact about a person, place, or event that was not previously known. John 4:18.

18

Page 19: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

Word of Wisdom – A divine revelation from God concerning His will, plan, or purpose for a specific circumstance. Acts 27

Discerning of Spirits – The ability to recognize and distinguish spirits (good or bad), recognize anointing and mantles, and see callings. Luke 8:26.

Trance – Unaware of your physical surroundings resulting in total involvement of what is going on. Acts 10:10.

Being Caught Up in the Spirit: You are transported to another location in body or spirit. Acts 8:39; II Corinthians 12:2-3

Angelic Visitation – Messengers sent from God for the purpose of revelation and ministry. Acts 12:7.

Visitation of the Lord – When the Lord Himself visits you. Daniel 3:25.

Interpretation

Interpretation is determining who is speaking, what is being transmitted, who is the revelation for, is it to be given and discerning the timing of the Lord for release. This is the most critical component of prophecy. A wrong interpretation is more dangerous than an unknown interpretation!

Keys to interpretation of revelation

You must know God – His nature and His written word You must love and care for God’s people You must let the Lord create in you a clean heart You must allow the Lord to deliver you from things that contaminate your

ability to hear from Him Determine who is speaking – God, Satan, or Self Determine who the word is for – Self, another, corporate body Ask the Lord to give you the interpretation Listen to what the Spirit of God reveals Discern if the revelation is to be given or committed to prayer Pray to determine the timing of the release of the word Give only what God has revealed to you – do not add to the revelation for

embellishment

Page 20: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

Immature Prophecy vs. False Prophecy

Immature Prophecy Soulish realm – mind, will, emotions Wrong revelation, interpretation, or application Selfish motivation Poor modeling Lacks true relationship with God and seeks to compensate with Religion Mysticism Confusing own thoughts with the word of the Lord

False Prophecy Seeks to deceive – to lead people astray Seeks to divert – substituting the true word of the Lord with imagination and

conjuring up words Seeks to deliver – tells people what they want to hear in order to manipulate

and gain control Seeks to destroy – the devil’s ultimate purpose

Application

Application is the determination of how we apply and implement the revelation of God we have received. This may not necessarily be your job, but left to the individual that the revelation is intended for.

Keys to Discerning Application1. Inquire of the Lord – Proverbs 28:52. Be purified – Daniel 12:103. Search the scriptures – II Timothy 2:154. Pray for complete revelation regarding the application – Ephesians 1: 15-175. Pray for a strategy for the application to be fulfilled – Steps needed to see

the fulfillment, timing, etc.

Activation –Practice, Practice, Practice!Information – Revelation from GodImpartation – A transference and release of the Power of the Holy SpiritActivation – The practice of the release of the Spirit. The exercising and submitting of ourselves to receive the revelation from God that He desires to reveal.

20

Page 21: propheticconference2017.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewConference Teacher. Prophet Glendon D. Jones. Church of Judah Family Worship Center, Dayton, Ohio. C. onference Host. Bishop

Seven Purposes of Activation (Practice)1. Increase the level of faith and confidence in receiving revelation2. Increase the level of accuracy and authority in revelation3. To experience the different way God relates to us.4. To distinguish between the different source of revelation. God? Devil? Flesh?

In training, the moment you struggle, the flesh enters in.5. To distinguish how God speaks to each one individually and what He sounds

like and how He communicates with us.6. To deal with Blockages i.e.. mental, emotional, demonic, soulish7. To develop a powerful and instant awareness of God and wherever He may

be.

Keys to Activation: Take notice of how God speaks to you. Embrace the word of God before we discern the word of God Know where the power comes from, not the mind, but the spirit The mind is the conduit of the spirit – We must continually renew our minds The emotion is the conduit of the spirit – We must continually allow God to

heal us Distinguish between the Spirit life and the Spiritual Life. i.e. What you gain

thru the spirit life – you can lose because of your spiritual life. Spirit life is prayer, fasting, prophecy. Spiritual life is dealings of God and how He deals with us. Your mind, will, emotions, body, lack of discipline.

Spirit life is developed in solitude. Spiritual life is developed in relationship with others.

Creating a Prophetic Environment

The ____________________ of a prophetic place

The church needs more than just a good chain of command in order to have a blessed prophetic ministry. The atmosphere needs to be conducive to the moving of God’s Holy Spirit. 1. Freedom in praise and worship…NOT focused on religious routine2. Open to new points of view…NOT closed minded3. Loving forgiveness, grace and mercy…NOT critical4. Passion and love for God…NOT indifference5. Honesty…NOT hypocrisy6. Outward focused on ministry…NOT inward focused on blessing

ourselves7. A place where risks are applauded…NOT a place where fear paralyzes
