PRIZES AWARDED IN 2014 oArts THE ARTS DEPARTMENT PRIZE.-The Arts Department has chosen to recognize four seniors who have challenged themselves in the studio or in the performing arts and who have shared their passion for their chosen art form with the school community. YUMI CHUN CHAN '14 MICHAELA JAI-MEI KANE '14 JOHN DENT MARSHALL '14 BRIAN SIAO TICK CHONG '14 THE CLASS OF 1933 ATHLETIC AWARD was established by the Class of 1933 and is awarded to the best all-around boy and girl athletes in the graduating class.faithful in practice, skillful in play and, winning or losing, true to the highest ideals of good sportsmanship. PATRICK LEE CHAMPAGNIE, jR.'i4 COURTNEY ELIZABETH ERICKSON '14 CONNOR ANTHONY HEGARTY '14 THE DESIREE ROGERS KING FUND was created by Sherwood King in memory of his wife, a member of the Buckingham Class of1936, who had a life-long interest in the arts. The income from the fund is to be awarded annually to a promising student of the arts at BB&N. This award may be applied to scholarship assistance, or to after-school or summer study in the arts. A friend of Robert Frost, whom he several times invited to speak at the School, Mr. Browne was a highly esteemed English teacher, the writer of several books, and the headmaster of Browne <& Nichols from 1883 until 1928. In multiplearenas, Marina stood out as a kind, intelligent, invested young womanknown for her quick wit and irrepressible energy-. This fellowship will beawarded annually to one or more BB&N students pursuing projectsfocusing on either artistic pursuits or activist causes that reflect Marina'sspirit, talents and ideals.

(CitizenshipTHE PETER K. GUNNESS PRIZE, established by theBoard of Trustees, honors the founding Head of the School. Peter K.Gunness came to Browne & Nichols as Headmaster in 1969. He workedwith Elizabeth Stowe, Headmistress of the Buckingham School, to createBB&N in 15)74. With this prize the Trustees honor him by honoring astudent with high ethical standards, whose voice has made a significantdifference in bringing important issues to the attention of our community.

Driven by a deep longing to understand the world around him, thisstudent can communicate his curiosities in four languages. Hestretches the borders of his knowledge beyond the politics ofnation states in order to dive deeply and empathetically intocultures different from his own. He is steadfast in his pursuit ofknowledge in a variety fields and quietly shares his ideas withwhoever is willing to engage.

ANDRE CONSTANTIN VOGEL '14

Thoughtful, mature, intellectually curious, and loyal to family andfriends, the winner of this award is a breath of fresh air. Herpassion for discovering new ideas, pushing herself to try somethingoutside her comfort zone, and her intrinsic love of learninginfuse our school with a spirit that is enriching andrewarding. With a thoughtful and graceful voice, this youngwoman speaks up when she sees unfairness, looking out for thecommunity with a finely tuned sense of justice.

This year's prizewinner is noted for a mind both joyful andtenacious. A Keegan Fellow, the dynamic editor of P.O.V., and apassionate advocate for electoral reform, he has led ourcommunity to a markedly greater awareness of the world beyondour walls and to intellectual engagement with the political issues ofthe day.

THE MERIWETHER OTIS KIMBALL PRIZE,established in memory of a long-ago Browne & Nichols student, honorsa senior who has used his or her talents to enrich the intellectual andextracurricular life of the School.

Positive and always willing to help others, this student workedtirelessly with his athletic teams, the Yearbook, and the SeniorPrefects to improve his classmates' experiences and make theschool a better place. Eloquent, earnest, and unstoppable in class,he has also enriched the academic life of the School.

THE LUBETS PRIZE was established by Richard I. Lubets,Browne ti Nichols class of '51, in memory of his parents, to honor astudent who has made an outstanding contribution during her or hissenior year.

With great energy and contagious enthusiasm, this prizewinnerhas dedicated himself to building community spirit and enliveningthe life of the school. Humor and a positive attitude havecharacterized his many contributions to the classroom, theorchestra, and myriad other aspects of school life. THE DAVID R. POKROSS PRIZE was established by thePokross children and grandchildren to honor their father and grandfather,a former trustee at Buckingham Browne & Nichols. It is awarded to thestudent whose commitment to people in need best embodies the idealsexpressed in the Community Service Program of the Upper School.

This student has been committed to community service since herfirst day on campus. Whether in school organizing Thanksgivingbaskets or in Cambridge volunteering hundreds of hours at aneighborhood house, she has led quietly and by example.Thoughtful, engaged, and determined, she has, as well,contributed her considerable talents to the classroom, to herfriends, and to the School.

THE APRIL TERUEL PRIZE, given in memory of a formerstudent, is awarded this year to a senior who is kind and understanding tohis peers and has been an active participant in the life of the School.

This prizewinner resists stereotypes, eludes characterization, andnever ceases to defy expectations. He brings a quick-wit and asense of joy and laughter to the classroom. Dedicated to his family,his school, and his friends, he is a young man on a mission todevelop his academic skills, serve his community, and live up to hisown high standards.

CONNOR O'NEIL CAMPBELL '14

THE HEAD'S PRIZE is awarded to those students in thegraduating class who, in addition to fine scholarship, have contributedgenerously to friends, the school community, and whose lives exemplifythe School's motto: Honor, Scholarship, Kindness.

During his time at BB&N, this award recipient has been a quiet,unassuming force for good in the community. He has pursuedexcellence in all areas of his BB&N life, be it in the classroom, onthe field, or on Student Council. He cares deeply and assumesresponsibility for his peers and for his school. On the DisciplinaryCommittee he is described as compassionate and a person ofunquestioned integrity. Positive, witty, perceptive, empathetic,and working to become an informed citizen to better those aroundhim, this young man has left a lasting mark on our community.

ADAM THOMPSON REYNOLDS '14

Bringing discipline, insight, joy and grace to all her activities, thisyear's prizewinner has made significant contributions to all areasof life at BB&N. She has shared her many talents in classroomsand on the athletic fields; she has benefitted the school andinternational communities in service projects, such as herexemplary work in Nicaraguan villages as one of the first recipientsof a Marina Keegan fellowship. With her own strong innercompass, she has supported her peers, empathetically maturelyand generously.

THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN PRIZE wasestablished by George Deptula, a former member of the faculty, to recognizestrength of character, sensitivity to the needs of others, and willingness to usehis or her education, talent, and time to assist those in need.

During his time at the Upper School this award winner hasdistinguished himself as someone willing to listen to and supportothers, as well as share his thoughts and experiences. His readinessto give of himself has made him a valued and respected member ofthe community and someone young and old alike can look to forguidance, wisdom, and inspiration.
