CD-ROMs• CD-ROMs short for “Compact
Disc Read-Only Memory.• It is look like an audio CD but
contains multimedia files that are programmed to use text, images, audio an video to provide interactivity.
Using CD-ROMs with Learners in the ClassroomIn the single computer classroom
or school, pairs of learners can take turns to do a few CD-ROM activities while the rest class are busy with paper-based activities on the same point. If you have a access to a data projector and one computer, CD-ROM can be projected onto a screen for a whole class to view and work on together, with learners taking turns to take control of the computer mouse. If the school has a computer room or self-access centre, the teacher can programe in regular short sessions, which learners work alone or in pairs on CD-ROM materials during class time.
DVD• DVDs short for “Digital Versatile Disc” which are developed in the 1990s.
• Similar to CD ROMs in that a variety of data can be stored on them, but they have much greater storage capacity than CD-ROMs.
• There is a often n option to view subtitles along with a video dialogue.
Evaluating CD-ROM
Computer-Based Testing
• Computer-Based Testing also called as online testing and e-assessment.
• Computer-Based Teaching is taking test via computer rather on paper.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Computer-Based Testing
-Learners can take an exam in may more centers
geographical online.- An exam can be offered more
frequently online.- The mechanics of marking and
feedback can be automated to a much greater extent, and
results provided to candidates more quickly.
- Marking of certain items is more reliably by computer
than by hand.
- Ensuring reliability in the marking of extended pieces of writing and
in assessing speaking.- Initial investment costs in
computer-based testing tend to be high.
Electronic Portfolios• Electronic Portfolios also called ePortfolios or Digital Portfolios.
• Electronic Portfolios is a collection of learner’s work which is presented in electronic format, and can thus include various electronic media such as video, audio, blogs or websites, as well as documents.
• Display achievements in Electronics portfolios is not just from formal learning situations, but also from extra-curricular activities or work experience.
• Include reflections on the learning experience itself.

Using Interactive White Boards• The teacher uses special pen or their finger to manipulate content on the whiteboard rather than using the mouse to manipulate images on the computer screen.•A whiteboard can be mobile or fixed.
