You may have noticed the beautiful art work addition welcoming you to our Administration block. A big thank you to Daniel McHenry who was commissioned to create an Indigenous Art work reflective of our school. Daniel has captured the school environment representing the land, the ocean and the people of Falcon PS.

The school needs your help to increase the percentage of families paying the voluntary

Head Lice Checks—Week 5

Head lice spread by head-to-head contact with another person who has head lice. This kind of contact includes group work at school, playing or hugging. Head lice can run from one head to another in seconds. They cannot fly, jump or swim, but they can swing from one hair to another. Head lice are not spread through bed linen, clothing or head gear (hats and helmets) because they do not leave the scalp unless they are moving to another person, or when they are dead or dying. At Falcon Primary School we require all students with long hair to have their hair tied up to minimise the transfer of head lice. Braiding or plaiting hair is preferable to wearing a pony tail as it reduces the amount of loose hair. Please refer to “What Parents Need to Know” article attached by the Department of Health for further information. Parents, please take the time to check your own child’s hair. Thank you to our Classroom Parent Representatives who have taken the time to complete checks. We still have quite a number of classrooms that need checking. If you can help out, please contact the office on 9534 2411. Thank you for your support.

Your time is precious ... So we would like to say ‘Thank You’ to the

volunteers who enable the P&C to run the canteen and

fundraising events.

As such, the P&C have teamed up with local

businesses to create a monthly prize draw for our kind

volunteers. This months prize is a $50 Rebel voucher.

To be in with a chance to win—you can either drop in to

see our new canteen supervisor Karen to check roster

availability, or message her on the “Falcon Tummy

Rumble” Facebook page.

We also know that not everyone is able to donate their

time, so if you are a local business and would like to

provide a prize, the P&C would very much appreciate it.

Farmyard on Wheels Farmyard on Wheels came to visit the Kindy and Pre Primary classes last week. Farmer Mick spoke to the children about the different animals and they had a chance to hold some chicks and feed the lambs and goats. Our students then had a fun time petting all of the animals!

Visiting Author Gavin Aung

Than

During Book Week this week, one hundred students

from Block 3 & 4 were privileged to have a visit from

local WA author/illustrator, Gavin Aung Than.

Gavin is the creator of the graphic novel series ‘Super

Sidekicks’. His second book ‘Ocean’s Revenge’ is due

for release in two weeks.

Students loved listening to Gavin talk about his book

creating process and watch him draw his characters.

They even got to help him!

Thank you to the City of Mandurah Library for the

opportunity to have Gavin visit our school.

Kindy 2020

Places for Kindergarten 2020 are now full. Some

families are yet to complete the enrolment process and

have been contacted to collect and complete their

enrolment packs, make a class preference and pay

their voluntary contributions.

The school will continue to take applications

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY IS APPROACHING

School Photo day is approaching! Fotomakers WA will be visiting Falcon Primary School on 27th

and 28th August 2019 (Kindy Seahorses 29th August 2019). Every student will receive an envelope.

Their name and other individual information (ie. Unique shoot key for online ordering) is printed

on each personalised envelope.

Parents are asked to complete the envelope by marking the order they require and enclosing their

payment choice (either cash or cheque inside the envelope or if ordering online clearly showing

the online receipt number on the front of the envelope). Every student must return their

envelope on photo day with their order clearly marked, even where payment is made in one

envelope for multiple siblings. See your envelope for more information.

Spare envelopes will be held at the school office for any new students or for those who have lost

or forgotten their envelope but still wish to purchase photos.

ALL students will be photographed individually on photography day for school administration

records. A second chance to purchase photos will be offered once delivery is made of all initial

orders.

The school will be offering a sibling photo service during your photography days. Sibling Photos

CAN ONLY BE ORDERED ON LINE. Sibling orders must be finalised by midday on 26th August

2019. To order a sibling photograph use your unique shoot key provided on your ordering

envelope and click on the sibling button.

House Captains & Vice House Captains, Student Representative Council and Choir photos will also

be taken during your photo days. These photos can also be ordered online using your unique

shoot key, pressing the ‘view all’ button and scrolling down the page.

Fotomakers WA offer a 100% money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please direct them to [email protected] or tel: 1300 876 920.
