I would also like to very much thank all of our Seaham families and community for supporting our school and creating such a wonderful place to be every day. School will resume for teachers and support staff only on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Classes for 2013 Classes are currently being organised for next year and will be finalised shortly. The process involves the first draft, then extensive consultation with teachers and our school executive. It is not a job we take lightly and great care is taken to ensure students are placed to maximise their academic and social development. Our projection of numbers indicates an enrolment of 211 students in 2013. This means we will maintain nine classes, however a minor drop could result in the ninth class disappearing. We are hoping this does not occur as it means larger class sizes. If we maintain our nine classes we will commence 2013 with the same teaching staff as we have at the moment. One of our vacancies looks likely to be advertised midway through term one. Laptop Classes Thank you to parents who have responded and indicated their intentions for our Year Six laptop classes next year. After much deliberation we have decided to run two 5/6 classes of mixed ability and a 4/5 class as we have this year. Year Six students will receive new laptops through our new rental plan. Year Five students in all three classes will have access to older refurbished laptops, smartboards and iPads which will be introduced later in 2013. place on Wednesday, 19 December from 4.00pm.

Gold Bowling Day

Last night was our last meeting of the year and

while we had an end of year celebration we also

continued to approve great new things for the

school. Thanks firstly to the LeMottee's for

their superb hospitality again last night and

thanks to all the members of the P&C for all of

their efforts through out the year.

Fundraising

The A-thon was a huge success and raised just

over $3900, this is a credit to everyone for their

efforts. This money is going to be put to very

good use with the things we approved last night.

New Laptops

We agreed to purchase 10 new laptops for the

school, which is approximately $7000, this will

see our fantastic laptop program continue

on. The success and knowledge our children

leave primary school with, sets them ahead

when they start high school.

Cricket Pitch

We also agreed last night to put in a cricket

pitch. This will enable the children to play

cricket as part of their sport program and also at

lunchtimes, offering another great activity and

variety for all of the children.

Garden and Free Play Area

Work will be done during the school holidays on

the main feature of the garden which is the

trickle stream through the middle of the garden

area.

Bus Safety

It has been raised to the P&C on a number of

occasions the dangerous driving and unsafe

practices occurring on the afternoon bus (Brandy

Hill, Eskdale Park Bus). We have raised this

with the bus company on a number of occasions

and they are asking for specific instances ie.

driving to fast, making children stand before the

bus has stopped or not stopping at their stop.

If your child raises any of these concerns with

you if you could please document the issue the

date and time (approx) it occurs and email:

[email protected] and

cc:[email protected].

Canteen Commitee

The P&C would like to thank the canteen

committee and in particular, Karen Forsyth for

the work she has done over this last term to set

up the children's room in the canteen

building. Karen had the idea and prepared,

painted and decorated the room as well as

writing letters to a number of local companies to

get resources for the room donated to keep

down our costs. Karen and her husband Mal

also laid the new lino flooring in this room. We

hope that this room will enable people to more

easily volunteer as they can bring their young

child in with them and know there is a safe child

friendly environment for them. Congratulations

on implementing a great initiative!

We would like to wish all the Children and

families a Merry Christmas and see everyone

back safe in the New Year.

in supplying the Year 6 Farewell Cake for

This year as Caleb was in Year 6, we knew
