It is great to see the entire St. Benedict Community getting into the spirit of giving. Multiple food and clothing drives are currently taking place here at SBS. Students and staff are doing their parts to help the less fortunate and reflecting on the blessings we all are lucky to possess. I enjoyed seeing our first graders teaming with our sixth graders to create Thanksgiving shirts furnished with their handprints. Our Kindergarteners are diligently practicing for their Thanksgiving Show. Our wonderful staff is continuing to push our students academically and socially everyday. On Monday we honored our country’s veterans for their service and dedication to our country. Thank you to Mrs. Pepe and Mrs. Keeling for organizing our prayer service. Our students demonstrated respect and reverence for those who have given so much for all of us. Special recognition needs to be extended to our girls soccer team and Coach Harden for an undefeated season and capturing another championship this week. In honor of their unprecedented success we will have a dress down day this Monday November 19th. Students may wear SBS colors to recognize our girls’ tremendous accomplishment. I look forward to seeing many of you tonight at our annual pocketbook bingo. This is a huge fundraiser for the PTA. Good luck to everyone who attends. Please enjoy time with your families this week and be thankful for all of your many blessings. Happy Thanksgiving. Kevin Donahue

PRINCIPAL News & Announcements

Dear Parents,  I guess winter is finally here!! I cannot believe Thanksgiving is next week. Veterans Day Tribute On Monday, November 12, 2018, the entire student body, staff, and faculty of St. Benedict School assembled in the church for a special tribute and prayer service for families and friends of Veterans from all branches of the armed services in the St. Benedict parish and school community. Each Veteran proceeded into the church after being announced individually and was welcomed with a standing ovation. There were a total of 35 Veterans representing various military branches. The school choir sang a beautiful rendition of "God Bless America" to the Veterans. Father John Michael Patilla said a prayer and blessed the Veterans, followed by a check presentation of $1,550 which was donated to The Marine Corps League P.K. Dorn Detachment No. 198.

With your support, St. Benedict School generated this generous donation by selling red, white, and blue pinwheels in honor of special Veterans; relatives and friends of St. Benedict families. The school fundraiser will aid The Marine Corps League with their many ongoing programs to help Marine veterans and all veterans in the Bayshore area. They are currently helping a Marine who was stationed at Earle pay for his medical bills after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Money raised will also go towards supporting our honored veterans living in Senior Centers and local food banks.

At the end of the prayer service, students presented their pinwheels to their Veteran relatives and friends and took a group photo. Students were shown that it is because of these Veterans’ sacrifices and their commitments that we can enjoy the freedoms with which we are blessed.  Special thanks to Mrs. Pepe, Mrs. Orr, Mrs. Healey and Mrs. Falzone and the PTA for spearheading such a wonderful tribute to our Veterans.    View photo album at: https://school.stbenedictholmdel.org/photoalbums/veteransdayservice
