Myra Moreta Tiny Songs Album Available on iTunes, CDbaby and Amazon June 1, 2014 Featuring the mildly dissonant single, “You Are My Sunshine” ALBUM RELEASE CONCERT: MAY 31 st , 2014 20:00 Prachtwerk, Ganghoferstr.2 12043 Berlin –Press entrance free (all others 510 Euro) Myra Moreta knows something about disappointments in love and life. Tiny Songs, Myra's first release, is an eight song set of originals and a cover that lets us in on her feelings about men, cats, death and an intolerable job. Many of the songs on the album feature the cavaquinho, a small Brazilian guitar-like instrument. Originally from a small town in California’s Mojave Desert, Moreta began concentrating her musical efforts on songwriting after moving to Seattle, WA in 2009. In 2010 Moreta moved to Berlin, Germany from Seattle where she met contrabassist, Adam Goodwin (US), vocalist and composer Naomi Pinnock (UK), sitar player Chandra Sunar (DE), and percussionist Sebastian Flaig (DE) who are featured on the album. She invited long time friend and violinist, Israel Heller (US) to record and their resulting version of “You Are My Sunshine”(released April 25, 2014) has been described as a mildly dissonant arrangement that may be the best interpretation of the song yet. This song has been recorded plenty of times in a folksy/ western style but here the skies are dark and the loss of love is heavy. It turns out this song isnʼt very happy at all, in fact itʼs probably one the most existential, loss of love songs Iʼve heard in a long while.” Topanga Messenger (to be published June 2014) This is a sophisticated introduction to a new talent. Myra hints at what will surely be coming to surprise us and rewards the listener with interesting layers in the arrangements and the cynical turns in the lyrics. Lyrics available at www.myramoreta.com/epk The album was recorded entirely by Moreta in her home studio in Neukolln, Berlin. Mixed and mastered in Bristol, UK by Andrew Morgan and Hugh Fielding, the end result has a hint of Seattle’s indie-acoustic sound and there is certainly a sense of longing for home which can be heard throughout the album. All those who purchase the album at the release party on May 31 in Berlin (and for those outside of Germany, download on June 1 2014) will receive a free mp3 live recording of the bonus track, “Bye Bye Big Penis”.
