BOP – An exclusive chair for concert halls and morePRESS RELEASE

TIBRO FEBRUARY 5 2013In collaboration with Norwegian design bureau Knudsen Berg Hindenes, Offecct is presenting the new chair BOP originally designed for USF Verftet, an arts arena for music, theater, film and modern art in Bergen, Norway. USF was established in 1993 and is an important actor within arts and culture in Bergen and Norway with the aim of collaborating, strengthening and partici-pating in the development of culture and creativity.

– When we were redoing the cultural center and creating a larger concert hall we wanted a new concert chair. The development has been a close process between us here at the cultural center, the designers and Offecct, says Jon Tvilde, Head of the cultural center.

– As clients we were allowed to participate in the development of the chair so that it would fulfill all our wishes. It has been an exciting and positive process, Jon Tvilde continues.

Offecct now takes the next step and presents yet another variant of the USF chair named Bop. Bop has a frame of stainless steel and a quilted seat and back that gives the chair an exclusive touch.

BOP lives up to the high standards of comfort, durability and adaptability required of a concert chair but fits perfectly well in other public interiors.

CARRY ON – A portable seating solution for activity based working spacesPRESS RELEASE

TIBRO FEBRUARY 5 2013Carry On is a portable seating solution that works perfectly by itself but also as a complement to other products.

Carry On is designed by Mattias Stenberg who has a strong belief in the need of flexible working places in the public space. Today we work more in projects and need environments that can be easily adapted to different needs.

- Carry On offers the possibility to sit down in an environment where you might not usually sit, says Mattias Stenberg.

Carry On is not only physically flexible; it also signals to the user how it should be used by the handle on top. - This type of furniture also signals flexibility in how you work and your mindset and shows how the company views the importance of interactivity at large, Stenberg continues.

Carry On has round but simple forms and combines traditional materials and craftsmanship with contemporary design and functions. It gives a tailored impression with stitching that communicates good craftsmanship. It is easy to stack Carry On, which means that it does not have to be stored elsewhere when not used.

- It was love at first sight when I met Offecct, says Mattias Stenberg.

- Offecct and I have the same approach to design; it should have a clear purpose. There is honesty in the way Offecct produces furniture which is very positive to me, Stenberg concludes.

- Carry On is a product completely in line with our longstanding focus on offering solutions for activity based working environments where focus is moved from working places to meeting places, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.

ABOUT MATTIAS STENBERGMattias Stenberg, born 1975, is a Swedish designer with a degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. In 2010 he founded his studio Vision A&D that focuses on contemporary architecture and design. Stenberg’s design philo-sophy stands on three pillars: clarity in concept, form and material. Stenberg’s architectural work affects the way he works with furniture and lighting, and he himself describes his furniture as “mini architecture.”

ISLANDS – Isles of possibilitiesPRESS RELEASE

TIBRO FEBRUARY 5 2013Islands is a system of seating furniture designed by French designer Jean-Marie Massaud.

With Islands Jean-Marie Massaud wants to reformulate public interiors such as waiting areas and lobbies. In order to achieve this Massaud has created a flexible and functional furniture system that easily can be adjusted to different surroundings and contexts.

Islands creates the feeling of small islands or coral reefs and provides space for informal meetings, while shielding the people sitting on an ”island” from those sitting on the adjacent ”islands” with the help of different materials and different heights. This feeling can also be enhanced by plants placed at designated spaces in the furniture.

Different seating levels and different materials give the furniture flexibility and do not lock the user to a certain behavior.

- Islands is not a classical piece of seating furniture; it is more abstract with different parts that together form an entirety. It stands for innovation, says Jean-Marie Massaud.

As a part of Offecct’s successful O2ASIS-initiative Islands reinforces and adds value to the work environment, not least by a conscious use of green elements for an improved air environment.

- Our long successful cooperation with Jean-Marie Massaud takes another step with Islands, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.

- Islands summarizes our focus on offering flexible solutions to architects and partners in their efforts to create activity based work environments, Kurt Tingdal concludes.

ABOUT JEAN-MARIE MASSAUDJean-Marie Massaud was born in 1966 and graduated from the ENSCI in 1990. In 2000 he found-ed Studio Massaud. His design is based on a well-developed design philosophy. From indus-trial design to architecture and technological innovation; he is a man of change. He prefers questioning the existing, in order to achieve progress and eventually propose answers to contemporary problems. Massaud’s designs are character-ized by an understanding of the surrounding world and create designs through a holistic approach that captures the zeitgeist in an interesting way. Massaud has been named Designer of the Year several times and has worked with companies such as Cacharel, Lancôme and Renault. For Offecct Massaud has designed the very successful series Bond and the sofa system Easy Block. During 2013 Offecct and Massaud also presents the seating system Islands and the innovative piece of seating furniture Airberg.

LINEA – Luca Nichetto’s playful linesPRESS RELEASE

TIBRO FEBRUARY 22 2013The original idea to the sofa Linea Luca Nichetto got from The Line, an Italian animated TV-show he used to watch as a child. With this inspiration Nichetto wanted to create a sofa with a back, when combined in greater numbers, forms a line that creates continuity.

The possibility to combine modules to a greater entirety gives architects and interior designers the opportunity to play with the product and its lines. The sofa is available in two sizes; with two or three seats. Small tables link the sofas together and provide functionality. This makes Linea adaptable and possible to use in large as well as small rooms.

The development of Linea demanded intensive work in order to find the right proportions that could create the above mentioned continuity. The result is a piece of furniture with proportions that wander between a sofa and a bench, landing somewhere in between.

- I really like working with Offecct and being a part of the whole process, says Luca Nichetto.

Luca appreciates Offecct’s CSR philosophy – which shows in the sustainable, innovative and successful chair Robo that Nichetto previously designed for Offecct – and that both designers and producer learn from each other during the development process.

- I have learnt how important it is to provide architects with products that they can use in many different ways and thereby create solutions to problems, Nichetto concludes.

Luca Nichetto was as the first Italian designer Guest of Honor at the great furniture fair IMM Cologne in January 2013. Additionally he was designated as Designer of the Year 2012 by Elle Decor Italia.

ABOUT LUCA NICHETTOLuca Nichetto was born in 1976 on the island Murano just north of Venice, a place known around the world for its distinctive glass designs. Luca Nichetto’s interest in design led him to studies of industrial design at the IUAV in Venice. He began his professional career in 1999 by designing his first projects in Murano glass for Salviati. In 2006 he launched his own design firm, Nichetto&Partners, which specializes in industrial design and offers its services as a design consultancy. In 2011 he also opened another professional office in Stockholm, Sweden. Over the course of his career, Nichetto has been awarded a number of inter-national prizes, including the Grandesign Award (2008), the Chicago Atheneum Museum of Architecture’s Good Design Award (2008), the IF Product Design Award (2008) and the Elle Decoration International Design Awards (EDIDA). He was announced as Designer of the Year in the Young Designer Talent category (2009) and designated as Designer of the Year 2012 by Elle Decor Italia.

NETFRAME – Sustainable comfort from Cate & NelsonPRESS RELEASE

TIBRO FEBRUARY 5 2013Netframe is a sofa and an easy chair designed by the design duo Cate & Nelson. Netframe is the first products that Cate & Nelson have designed for Offecct.

Cate & Nelson’s idea behind Netframe was to create a piece of furniture that consumes as little material as possible while maintaining a high comfort.

- In order to succeed with this challenge we had to turn everything upside down in the development process, says Nelson Ruiz-Acal, one half of Cate & Nelson.

- We wanted it to be easy to produce with minimal time and material usage, Ruiz-Acal continues.

Netframe was developed into a very comfortable piece of furniture with extremely low impact on the environment. The design philosophy of Cate & Nelson, who are working with Offecct for the first time, is based on sustain-ability. Sustainability is also one of the corner stones of Offecct´s research and development process, which has resulted in a good cooperation between Offecct and Cate & Nelson.

- Offecct is one of the most trustworthy partners we have worked with, who takes a great social responsibility with all its products and production, Nelson Ruiz-Acal concludes.

- Netframe is a product that is distinguished by transparency and responsibility and reflects the way we see our role in the surrounding society, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.

ABOUT CATE & NELSONThe design duo Cate & Nelson consists of the Swedish designer Cate Högdahl and Spanish Nelson Ruiz-Acal. Cate & Nelson were educated at the Europeo di Design in Madrid and are based in London, but are also represented in Spain and Sweden. Their designs are distinguished by sustainability and a continental approach.

PRESS RELEASE

TIBRO FEBRUARY 5 2013Soundwave® Pix is designed by the French designer Jean-Marie Massaud and is the latest addition to Offecct’s successful selection of sound absorbing panels.

Soundwave® Pix provides architects with the possibility to create unique rooms by offering the option to combine colors and forms in different ways. Soundwave® Pix complements the sound absorbing function with the potential of esthetic variation in terms of the color and form options.

The design of Pix in itself is a reminder of keys on a keyboard, and radiates a sense of recognition that also surprises.

- Soundwave® Pix offer architects the possibility to combine many different parts that together creates an entirety and I look forward to seeing architects and interior designers throughout the world use Pix to create innovative interiors, says Jean-Marie Massaud.

The human being is affected by all her senses, also when working. This fact has been taken on board by Offecct in the product development process of the Soundwave® acoustic panels. The panels are designed to absorb unwanted and disturbing noise in a many different environments.

- The popularity of Soundwave® keeps growing worldwide, not the least as activity based work and meeting places become increasingly frequent, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.

- Jean-Marie Massaud’s addition Soundwave® Pix increases the possibility for our partners to create interesting and functional interiors, Kurt Tingdal concludes.

The device fits discretely into all environments without being seen – instead it accentuates the panels used. The design of Soundwave® Stand is thereby very closely connected to Hutten’s own design concept “No Sign of Design” where the products should feel entirely natural in its surrounding.

Soundwave® Stand makes it possible to create room within a room and give spatial direction and is an important tool for the so called A2-concept where activities dictate the working area which can easily be formed after the needs that arise. Soundwave® Stand and the Soundwave panels can be combined in infinite ways and provides architects with great possibilities for variation in many environments.

In addition to these aesthetic and practical features, Soundwave® Stand offers an easy way to integrate sound-absorbing elements in public spaces. Soundwave® panels are designed to absorb unwanted and disturbing noise in a room and are available in various designs and colors.

- It was a pretty technical yet interesting challenge I got from Offecct, says Richard Hutten.

- Together with Offecct’s development department I got the opportunity to develop the ideas I had resulting in the Soundwave Stand and I want to direct a challenge to architects and interior designers throughout the world to, with the help of Stand, create innovative and unexpected interiors, Hutten concludes.

- With Soundwave® Stand we respond to the demand that architects and interior designer have directed towards us when it comes to mobile Soundwave®-modules, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.

- Richard Hutten’s discrete design of Stand has resulted in an excellent tool for our customers and partners in their work to create activity based working environments, Kurt Tingdal concludes.

LAB – For the development of meeting places of the futurePRESS RELEASE

TIBRO FEBRUARY 5 2013Offecct has a history of developing innovative solutions and products with high design ambitions. These initiatives include a long lasting program to develop furniture for activity-based workplaces. Within these initiatives SOUNDWAVE® and O2ASIS can be found; SOUNDWAVE® - the industry’s first designed acoustic panels for wall mounting, and O₂ASIS - an assortment of design products, which together with flowers and plants enhances and adds value to the work environment, not least through an improved indoor air quality. Besides SOUNDWAVE® and O2ASIS the collection consists of many products that meets the requirements of today´s more flexible way of working, not least the successful series Smallroom launched 2012, design by Ineke Hans.

Building on these successes Offecct now takes the next step and presents OFFECCT LAB, an overall strategic initiative designed to concentrate Offecct’s efforts in the development of new solutions and new products.

– In the establishment of OFFECCT LAB we challenge ourselves and our designers in order to develop proactive and innovative ways to test the limits of the meeting places of the future, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.

The two first tangible results of OFFECCT LAB are AIRBERG and CAPE. AIRBERG is a challenging piece of seating furniture designed by famous French designer Jean-Marie Massaud and a result of experimenting with new seating typologies. Cape, with design by one of the greatest names on the contemporary design scene; the Japanese designer Nendo, is a complex chair with an exciting look. The chair has ultra-thin dimensions and a very low weight, made possible by a collaboration between Offecct and Swedish Steel AB in the development of new steel materials.

– OFFECCT LAB is a very important strategic initiative for Offecct’s continued growth and we now have the pleasure to preview AIRBERG and CAPE, the first two prototypes resulting from our efforts in OFFECCT LAB. During 2013 we will continue to work with our designers and suppliers to develop innovative and surprising solutions and products, concludes Kurt Tingdal.

CAPE – Manifested elegance by NendoPRESS RELEASE

TIBRO JANUARY 22 2013Offecct proudly presents the elegant chair Cape, the first addition to the collection by one of the greatest names on the contemporary design scene; the Japanese designer Nendo/Oki Sato. Cape is designed by Nendo who is also the Guest of Honour at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2013 as well as the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan 2012.

Cape is a complex chair with an exciting look, with ultra-thin dimensions and a very low weight, made possible by a collaboration between Offecct and Swedish Steel AB in the development of new steel materials. The development behind Cape has taken place within the Offecct Lab, a comprehensive strategic initiative which aims to concentrate Offecct’s efforts in the development of new solutions and new products.

Nendo draws inspiration from everyday life. He describes his products as functional, simple and friendly. Every day we encounter small wow-moments – or as Nendo expresses them: “ ! ” moments – that are easily forgotten. With his design Nendo wishes to capture these interesting moments, collect them and reformulate them into something that is easy to understand.

Cape is an elegant chair that gives the illusion of a cape spread over a frame. The subtle twist in the design of Cape makes the chair stand out all the while being obvious and simple in its design language. Simply “ ! ”.

Offecct always works with authentic materials in its production. The tasteful seat of Cape is molded in wood produced from controlled sources and the stand is made of an extremely light material which gives the chair its elegant shape.- Offecct has a long history of cooperating with some of the world’s most prominent designers, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.

- That is why it is both natural and pleasing that we can present the chair Cape; a first, and in our opinion excellent, result of the cooperation with Nendo, Kurt Tingdal concludes.

ABOUT NENDOThe Japanese designer Nendo (Oki Sato) is based in both Tokyo and Milan and is a rising star on the international design scene.Among earlier clients Boffi, Hermes, Issey Miyake, Kenzo, Lexus, Louis Vuitton and Starbucks can be mentioned. Nendo has also won many prestigious competitions and awards, such as “The 100 Most Respected Japanese” and “The Top 100 Small Japanese Companies” from Newsweek magazine, “Designer of the Year” from Wallpaper* magazine, as well as “Designer of the Year” from Elle Deco International.

AIRBERG – An innovative break with conventions by Jean-Marie MassaudPRESS RELEASE

TIBRO FEBRUARY 5 2013Airberg by Jean-Marie Massaud is an innovative piece of furniture that breaks with conventions.

Airberg is one of the first results that come out of the work at Offecct Lab, a strategic initiative designed to concentrate Offecct’s efforts in the development of new solutions and new products.

Airberg is not ready for production yet, but should be seen as a result of an ongoing R&D-process where Offecct and Jean-Marie Massaud dared to develop a piece of seating furniture for the meeting places of the future.

The inspiration behind the form of Airberg is a combination of a comfortable, inviting piece of seating furniture and an iceberg filled with vacuum. The furniture’s abstract form is light in its expression and Airberg is contemporary both in its design and in the technique used.

- Offecct is prominent in offering the market a strong and varied product selection. This means that with Airberg I could take a step further and break with conventions and question existing norms of what a piece of seating furniture usually looks like, says Jean-Marie Massaud.

Airberg consists of a structural case which gives the impression of being filled with a vacuum, but is in reality filled with a flexible padding material. The unique craftsmanship used in the production of Airberg makes it possible to create a deconstructed piece of furniture that is more defined in its asymme-try. Jean-Marie Massaud has created a piece of furniture that is comfortable, sustainable and competent, making it highly contemporary.

- Offecct has always worked continuously with product development and lately we have intensified our efforts to taking yet another step in creating innovative and challenging products for the international market, says Kurt Tingdal, CEO, Offecct.

- With Airberg Offecct, together with Jean-Marie Massaud, take a great leap in that direction resulting in a unique piece of furniture that has to be experi-enced, Kurt Tingdal concludes.

L’EXPOSITION – Jean-Marie MassaudPRESS RELEASE

TIBRO JANUARY 22 2013Jean-Marie Massaud and Offecct’s collaboration goes far back. In conjunction with the 2013 edition of the Stockholm Furniture Fair Offecct arranges an exhibition in its Stockholm showroom where Massaud’s new and earlier designs are put into perspective. At the l’Exposition Jean-Marie Massaud Offecct and Massaud get the opportunity to display their joint enthusiasm for new creations and contemporary design.

- The collaboration with Offecct has been very successful and rewarding throughout the years and I am very happy to have the opportunity to come back to Stockholm and show my design to a qualified audience, says Jean-Marie Massaud.

At the heart of the exhibition the new products that Jean-Marie Massaud and Offecct are presenting at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2013 are found. The innovative seating furniture Airberg, the acoustic panel Soundwave® Pix as well as the seating system Islands will be presented. Massaud has also designed many exciting and grand projects, such as the futuristic airship Zeppelin NT, and the gigantic Volcano Chivas Stadium in Mexico.

- The exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for interested people to get a better idea of my products and designs. The feeling is stronger and more tactile in reality compared to pictures in a brochure, Massaud continues.

To Jean-Marie Massaud design is creativity and a way to try to make things better. Massaud thinks that contextuality and cultural understanding in the design process is essential for a product to be relevant to the individual, the society and the world at large. Massaud likes to experiment and shares Offecct’s challenges and visions. To challenge, go against conventions and deconstruct are important components of Massaud’s work. Massaud himself compares his designs to words that are then used by architects to create meaning(s).

- The cooperation with Offecct is a very positive experience; I appreciate Offecct’s combination of humility and progressiveness and find pleasure in sharing the adventure we are experiencing together, says Jean-Marie Massaud.
