We’ve developed our Tek-CARE®400 nurse call system to enhance the service you provide to your patients. At the same time, you’ll find it’s the easiest and most efficient patient call system you can use.

Selection MethodsSelection Methods—To perform most common master operations, select a subject (a station, a zone, a master, or the system) and then perform an operation on it. The onscreen Selection Indicator box displays the subject that is currently selected.

System—To select all stations on the system, touch the onscreen SYSTEM button –or– touch the onscreen system icon –or– type the word “system.”

Master—To select all stations in this master’s assigned zones, touch the onscreen THIS MASTER button –or– touch the master’s onscreen icon –or– type the word “master” – or– type the master’s number. To select another master (but not its stations), touch the master’s onscreen icon –or– type the master’s number.

Clear any selection by pressing the onscreen CLEAR button next to the selection indicator. The box will eventually clear on its own.

Pick up the Handset or press the TALK button.

The call tone will be silenced and communication to the room will be established.

Press the RESET button or hang up the handset when finished. Medium priority, high priority and personal attention calls must be reset at point of origin.

Nurse FollowerNurse Follower—This feature allows staff to receive call tone annunciation while in a patient’s room.

Select Nurse Follow from the menu.

Proceed to a room and check in by pressing the appropriate registration button. If a call is placed within the master’s zone assignments, a tone will sound. This is to inform the staff member that a call is active elsewhere. This call indication can be silenced by pressing the reset button on the patient’s station.

To change rooms, press the appropriate registration button to check out of the room. Go to the next desired room and press the appropriate registration button to check in. Press it again when leaving the room.

To disengage the feature, return to the master station and deselect Nurse Follow from the menu.

Place a Call to Another Master Station: Place a Call to Another Master Station: Select the desired master station and then pick up the Handset and speak as desired, or press and hold the TALK button to speak and release to listen. If the master station is already in communication, the message “Audio Channel Busy” will appear.

Receive a Call from Another Master Station: Receive a Call from Another Master Station: The Audio Status box will display the master number and the message “INCOMING.” Pick up the handset, or reply hands-free. If the originating master has audio pre-announce tones enabled, the receiving master will hear pre-announce tones.

Select the desired station and then press the green L1 (nurse) button, the orange L2 (aide) button or the yellow L3 (auxiliary) button. Staff service requests may also be made while communicating with a station by pressing the L1, L2 or L3 button.

The station name and “L1 Req,” “L2 Req” or “L3 Req” will appear in List View and on the room icon in Icon View.

To cancel a staff service request, select the room and press the L1, L2 or L3 button.

Place a Call:Place a Call:

Press the call button on the end of the call cord, or press the red call button on the pillow speaker.

Call placement can be verified by the flashing of the call-placed light. A cord-out call will automatically be placed if the call cord or pillow speaker is removed from the patient station without first disabling cord-out supervision.

Respond to a Call:Respond to a Call:

Reply in a normal voice when spoken to. Audio communication will usually originate with the patient station speaker and microphone. If pillow speakers are being used, audio communications are through the pillow speaker and patient station microphone (pillow speaker module required).

Cancel a Call:Cancel a Call:

Press the reset button until the call-placed LED is extinguished.

To cancel a cord-out call, replace the call cord in the patient station’s call-cord jack.

Provides a communication point for staff members to call the master for staff-to-staff communication.

Duty StationDuty Station

Provides the communication feature of the staff station, plus an additional point of annunciation for the nurse call system in locations that are not within sight or hearing of the nurse master console. The duty station can be programmed for which rooms and call types to annunciate. Press the reset button to silence low priority tones.

Use both automatic and manual radio pocket paging.

Associate rooms with staff or zones—the correct room, bed number and call type of an incoming call are automatically sent to the correct pager.

Custom paging options are easily handled using the NC402TS Master Station’s slide-out keyboard and touchscreen. Predefined messages can be created to quicken the action.

Three levels of pagers can be assigned: primary, secondary and tertiary, to ensure call response.

The built-in keyboard allows quick access to Manual Custom Paging, or let the system take care of it via Automatic Paging.

To send a custom manual RF page, press the onscreen Text Message button to display the RF Paging window:

If a station is active in the call window, it will be appended to the text message. (If you do not want the station number to be appended, touch the Clear button first.)

If desired, change the priority of the page.

Type a message, or touch the onscreen Predefined… button and choose a predefined message.

Touch the onscreen Send button to send the RF page.

Incoming Messages: When a call is placed from a room in your area, the pager will beep or vibrate depending on its settings. If it is set to beep, one of three tones will sound, depending upon the call’s priority. The incoming message will be displayed automatically, as shown below.

Call Type Note: Each new call becomes call #1, and the earlier call numbers increase by one.

Delete a Message: While reading a message, press the Selection button twice display the screen below. Use the Left or Right button to select YES, and then press the Read button.

Use the Left or Right button to select LOCK, then press the Read button to confirm locking. A locked message cannot be deleted until it is unlocked: press Selection button to display the UNLOCK screen, choose YES and press the Read button.
