Worldwide ICT market – Analysis of the IT sector

ICT industry in Turkey

Current Situation

• 45,3 million 3G user

• 20,57 million broadband subscribers

• 323 minutes average mobile phone usage per month

• As of June 68,02 million mobile subscribers

• Turkey’s computer hardware sales are projected at $6.1 bn in 2013 and are forecasted to

reach around $10.6 in 2016*

• The software market in Turkey is projected at $933 million in 2012 and is forecast to reach

$1.6 bn in 2016, with an expected growth rate of 13%*

• Exceeding the growth of 2012, information and communication technologies sector has

reached in Turkey a level of 78,24 billion TL including a market size of 21 billion TL in e-

trade. Sector's export is 1,08 billion TL.*

ICT Targets for 2023:

Turkey’s ambitious vision of 2023, the centennial foundation of the republic envisages grandiose targets for the ICT sector in Turkey. These targets include: 

• Reaching 30 million broadband subscribers

• Supplying 50 percent of the ICT sector with domestic

products and services

• Reaching 8 percent of GDP as the ICT sector’s share

• Becoming one of the top 10 countries in e-transformation

• Providing all public services electronically by 2019

• Having 80 percent of population computer literate
