PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH COMMITTEE MEETING THURSDAY, MARCH 31, 2016

HELD ON CAMPUS IN SSC-2200, GLEN ELLYN, IL CALL TO ORDER At 7:00 p.m., Lee Daniels, Chairman of the Presidential Search Committee of the College of DuPage Board of Trustees called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. ROLL CALL Chairman Daniels called on Secretary Paul LeFort to call the roll. Present: Lee Daniels, Cheryl Baunbach-Caplan, Glenn Hansen, Miguel Hernandez, Heidi Huizenga, Jeanne Ives, Nobuko Kudo, Paul LeFort, Maren McKellin, Frank Napolitano, Sherman Neal and Patricia Sowatzke. A quorum was present. Absent: Nimish Bhatt, Heidi Huizenga and Maren McKellin. Also Present: Attorney Emily Shupe, Rathje Woodward. (Minutes prepared by Erin Carrillo) APPROVAL OF AGENDA Chairman Daniels entertained a motion to approve the Agenda as posted. Jeanne Ives moved and Glenn Hansen seconded to approve the Agenda. On a roll call voting aye: Cheryl Baunbach-Caplan, Lee Daniels, Earl Dowling, Glenn Hansen, Miguel Hernandez, Jeanne Ives, Nobuko Kudo, Paul LeFort, Frank Napolitano, Sherman Neal and Patricia Sowatzke. Motion passed. PUBLIC COMMENTS None. COMMENTS BY THE COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN Chairman Daniels thanked everyone for their work on the committee and for attending the meeting given the short notice. Chairman Daniels, Glenn Hansen and Paul LeFort worked on the sub-committee to perform further vetting of the four candidates. CLOSED SESSION At 7:05 p.m. Frank Napolitano moved and Sherman Neal seconded the motion to move into Closed Session for the purpose of discussing: “The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity.”

On a roll call voting aye: Cheryl Baunbach-Caplan, Lee Daniels, Earl Dowling, Glenn Hansen, Miguel Hernandez, Jeanne Ives, Nobuko Kudo, Paul LeFort, Frank Napolitano, Sherman Neal and Patricia Sowatzke. Motion passed. RESUME OPEN MEETING At 8:17 p.m. Chairman Daniels announced that they will resume the open meeting. Cheryl Baunbach-Caplan moved and Patricia Sowatzke seconded the motion. On a roll call voting aye: Cheryl Baunbach-Caplan, Lee Daniels, Earl Dowling, Glenn Hansen, Miguel Hernandez, Jeanne Ives, Nobuko Kudo, Paul LeFort, Frank Napolitano, Sherman Neal and Patricia Sowatzke. Motion passed. APPROVAL TO RATIFY SUB-COMMITTEE’S WORK AND DECISION Jeanne Ives moved to ratify the Sub-Committee’s work and decision to go from four candidates to three candidates. Patricia Sowatzke seconded the motion. On roll call voting aye: Cheryl Baunbach-Caplan, Lee Daniels, Earl Dowling, Glenn Hansen, Miguel Hernandez, Jeanne Ives, Nobuko Kudo, Paul LeFort, Frank Napolitano, Sherman Neal and Patricia Sowatzke. Motion passed. APPROVAL OF CANDIDATE FINALISTS Glenn Hansen moved and Cheryl Baunbach-Caplan seconded the motion to approve the following candidates be presented to the Board of Trustees: Candidate 003, Candidate 037 and Candidate H1. On a roll call voting aye: Cheryl Baunbach-Caplan, Lee Daniels, Earl Dowling, Glenn Hansen, Miguel Hernandez, Jeanne Ives, Nobuko Kudo, Paul LeFort, Frank Napolitano, Sherman Neal and Patricia Sowatzke. Motion passed. NEXT STEPS Engaged in the process of background and reference checks for the final candidates. Our goal is to present the list of candidates to the Board of Trustees and ask the Chairman to place this on the Agenda for the April 7, 2016 meeting. The process of a turnover is quite involved. We want to engage in press releases. The candidates will be asked to sign a consent by the Board of Trustees. I will offer continued assistance to the Board of Trustees. Earl Dowling would encourage students be involved along with faculty and administrators. Miguel Hernandez urged that the forums be held in spring. ADJOURNED At 8:30 p.m. seeing no further business for the Presidential Search Committee, Chairman Daniels called for a motion to adjourn.

Miguel Hernandez moved and Earl Dowling seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion passed on unanimous voice vote.
