President’s AddressTonight, The OHJA banquet is an opportunity to personally congratulate and thank our friends, family, and colleagues. The success of 2012 should be a reminder to share your appreciation during the holiday season.

There are so many people in our lives who keep us “on the road” Quickly, off the top of my head, I can think of my blacksmith, in consultation with another, who kept a quarter crack patched so I missed very little show time; our carrot delivery man saved me both money and shopping hours: my groom saved my allergies with her time removing mud and manure stains and kept horses and rider organized. My coach kept me focused: a braider relieved my arthritic hands; a friend who allowed me to “winter” in her arena; another friend who supported me at the ring, rain or shine. And that is just the short list! Lots of our members have parents and partners to thank as well.

It takes a lot of time and effort for success in our sport. It takes very little time to “text” a thank you. Why not try an old fashioned phone call or note to the people in our lives who make this all possible? It is the season. Enjoy!
