Welcome to Hides Fine Foods. we are a family run online food specialist supporting the cottage industry, sourcing quality artisan’s produce from

independent producers around the United Kingdom.

Based at Homer Hill Farm shop in rural County Durham. The award winning Farm Shop is one of the North East of England’s premier farm shops recently winning the taste Durham Highest Quality Assured and Local Food Champion awards.

Passionate about promoting artisan food, I established Hides Fine Foods to showcase some of the best food from around the United Kingdom, and to give local producers the opportunity to move into International markets.

The beautiful rural location of Homer Hill Farm, set in the stunning rolling hills of County Durham is a far cry from my previous role - working in Logistics and Supply Chain for large multi-national organisations, however the new role gives me the opportunity to reach new customers with the online Food Store, and work with some amazing people.

My mission is to work as a distributor supporting independent artisan producers distribute their goods throughout the UK & Europe initially then move onto global markets.

Claire’s Handmade began at home in 2003 with my mother’s treasured Aga jam pan,

my grandmother’s plum chutney recipe, our Rayburn, some plums and a handful of glass jars. Our professional catering background gave us the knowledge to understand the various regulations, and Claire’s Handmade was born. We took our Old Fashioned Plum Chutney to a local farmers’ market and customers loved it. We were delighted and inspired by the comments made that day by all the people that tasted our chutney.

Over the years, we have won numerous ‘Great Taste Awards’, ‘Best Overall Preserve in the North West’ and the “Lake District Life Food Heroes Award’.

In a Pickle was started in 2011 by Stephanie Anderson, who with a lifetime of experience

within the food industry, was looking for something a little less stressful to do with her time! Noticing a glut of fruit going to waste in her neighbours garden she decided to preserve it, and as they say ‘ the rest is history’.

Now boasting an impressive array of 17 mouthwatering flavours, In a Pickle has become a well known and loved brand within the world of Artisan Food. The quality and taste of the products has been rewarded many times over with Great Taste Awards, Taste of the West Awards, and recognised by the people of Bath and Bristol, winning Best Local Condiment on no less than 5 occasions.

In a Jam which followed In a Pickle as a natural progression now has a range of 7 sweet preserves which include Jam, Marmalade and Curd. Made by the same small batch, open pan method as the savoury preserves, the jams are softer set and contain a high fruit content.

14 Years of Love, Skill and Creativity

I started making jams in 2002, that’s over 14 years of hand-making jams in a small factory unit in Newcastle. Since then the products have won lots of awards and we sell our jams, marmalades, curds and chutneys all across the North East of England.

At the start of 2016, we decided to change the brand name from

JR Jams to Jean’s Jams. All of the products still have the same great taste and they are still made by hand with no preservatives.

All of the years I spent in science laboratories gave me an experimental edge and I hope our customers and chefs continue a similar creativity in their kitchen’s!

The Kilby family are third generation farmers who have

been in Collingham since the 1960’s. Our Rapeseed Oil is grown, pressed and bottled on our farm in West Yorkshire. Our oil is Extra Virgin because we only press once and do not use heat or chemicals to extract the oil. Not only that but we do not use chemicals in our harvesting methods either, thus taking great care to preserve all the natural, benefits of the oil .

Only Charles Butler’s traditional recipes can create the true taste

of the old fashioned sweet shop.

I began making my rambunctious confectionery in 1848 and have continued with steely determination to only ever make confections of the topmost quality. I still use the same recipes as when I began my profession as I believe they are still the very best!

All my products defy the industrialists and their confounded mechanisations and use our skilled sugar boiler’s own hands. With over 100 years’ experience making my confections they really are top notch!

My world famous, though I do say so myself, Mint Rock has established my renown for excellent quality delicious tasting confections.

We are English tea merchants based in Newcastle Upon Tyne

and our focus is on sourcing high quality, authentic teas and tisanes that are complex, refined and always beautiful in the cup. We’re big believers in provenance and so work with individual tea estates and tea gardens wherever possible so that many of our products are sold by their names – such as the Thotolugalla Estate in the Uva Highlands of Sri Lanka or Margaret’s Hope in Darjeeling, India.

We also care deeply about the land where our teas grow and those who grow it so offer a range of organic teas and tisanes. We travel extensively to meet the farmers we depend upon. In addition we are fascinated by the health properties of our teas, herbs, spices and fruits and always strive to share this information with our customers.

Prices All prices and case sizes are correct at the time of print; we will endeavour to maintain these prices for the duration of the catalogue. However prices sometimes change at short notice, and Hides Fine Foods reserves the right to pass onto the buyer any price increases imposed by its suppliers.

PaymentAll new account orders, will be processed on a pro forma basis, payment must be made in advance of the goods despatching. Subsequent orders may be on credit account, subject to the submission of satisfactory, bank and trade references checks. Contact [email protected] for relevant forms.

Approved credit accounts, our terms are strict 28 days unless otherwise stated. Hides Fine Foods reserve the right to remove the credit facility if payments are frequently late or unpaid.

All goods will remain the property of Hides Fine Foods until paid for in full; Consignments shall be at your risk immediately on delivery to you.

Each consignment shall remain our property until we have received payment in full. Hides Fine Foods reserve the right to remove from the buyers premises all goods which have not been paid for by the due date, and the buyer is deemed to consent to Hides Fine Foods entering its premises to recover all stock and other returnable containers which are our property.

All products are quoted net of Value Added Tax. Vat is charged at the prevailing rate to all items marked 20.0% in the catalogue. Zero rated are all marked with 0.0%Z.

We accept payment by cheque or bank transfer. Cheques should be made payable to; Hides Fine Foods Ltd.

Delivery & Collection Address information is taken from the information provided when you register a new account, any changes to the delivery address will incur charges, Hides Fine Foods Ltd cannot accept liability for late or failed delivery if the delivery address provided is incorrect or missing information. Hides Fine Foods Ltd doesn’t deliver to Po box Numbers.

Any special requirements for deliveries must be notified at the time of ordering, deliveries that are turned away without such notification must be paid for. Any delivery dates given are approximate and late delivery will not be an acceptable reason for refusing products unless the seller is informed in writing before the products are dispatched.

We ship to order for maximum shelf life, please allow 7-14 days for delivery, pallet deliveries only. See delivery map Page 2 for a breakdown of prices.

Bespoke & Specially ordered productsBuyers must take delivery of specially ordered products sourced for them, which are not part of the standard product range.

ReturnsGoods are not available on a sale or return basis, No returns will be accepted unless prior arrangements have been made with Hides Fine Foods. A credit cannot be given for goods that are already price marked or the product is in an unsalable condition.

Hides Fine Foods are unable to give refunds for stock that remains unsold after its best before date or use by date, it is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure correct stock rotation.

Claims, Faulty Damaged Goods Lost in Transit or damaged claims, should goods be damaged in transit on receipt you must notify Hides Fine Foods

immediately and sign for the goods as either damaged or unexamined, this needs to be confirmed in writing within 3 days of delivery. Damaged goods must be retained for inspection by Hides Fine Foods. Please provide photographs of any damaged products. Any Items signed for as ok cannot be credited.

Substitutions and availability HampersHides Fine Foods will endeavour to supply food specified by you, in the event of non-availability or short supply Hides Fine Foods reserves the right to substitute goods of equal value and quality. You are within your rights to decline any such substituted items. In that event you must notify us within 7 days of receipt of the goods and we will arrange collection from your premises. You will receive a refund of the value of any such goods returned to us unopened within 30 days of our receipt of the goods returned.

Force Majeure Hides Fine Foods Ltd shall not be liable for any delay, defect or deficiency hereunder to the extent that such delay, defect or deficiency is caused by an event of force majeure, which affects performance by hindering, delaying or making considerably more difficult the fulfillment of commitments of the party. Labour disputes or any circumstance beyond the control of the party such as acts of God, disruption of transport, obstruction by ice, accidents, breakdowns of machinery, or delay in delivery by any third party, which is caused by force majeure.

Law & Jurisdiction These Terms and Conditions and any terms and conditions relating to products or services described in this catalogue shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Disputes arising in relation to the same shall, unless otherwise expressly agreed, be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
