Tyre Cleaning

Only regularly available detergent-based cleaners and water can be used to

clean tyres (e.g. Simple Green). The use of solvents to clean the tyre bead

before glue application is permitted. (RCRA Rule 9.6.6)

Punching Tyres A maximum of 2 holes may be punched in each tyre with a maximum of

4mm diameter. Insert may be modified (per RCRA).

Inserts

RCRA has advised that there is no ruling in the current EP-OFR rule set

related to gluing or modifying tyre inserts. Given there are no rules to

prevent such, RCRA advises (on 21/7/19) that the gluing of inserts to rims

is allowed, and racers are able to modify inserts.

The host club requires competitors to use the inserts supplied with the tyre

at purchase and request no additive to be added to the insert. We also

advise placing a dot of superglue over the compound marking on the tyre

for ease of identification by Scrutineers.

Ordering &

Collection

The Sydney Radio Control Car Club Inc will not be handling control tyre

orders directly. We will be utilising our club sponsor Campbelltown Hobbies.

Place your orders directly with Campbelltown Hobbies here.

Additive (goop)

The Sydney Radio Control Car Club Inc is closely monitoring the 2020

Victorian State Titles usage of the TDK tyre additive* which is (a) currently

the only tyre additive approved by the RCRA and (b) will be used in line with

the recently published tyre additive policy & procedures from the RCRA.

Should the event in Victoria be successful we will look to replicate this

process in NSW (subject to reviewing any policy updates from the RCRA

following the Victoria State Titles).

We wish our friends in Victoria all the best for their state titles and hope to

learn from their experience and build on that here in NSW.

Note: If implemented for NSW additive will be provided at no additional

charge to competitors.

*TDK Repairs Aggressive Tyre Sauce (SKU: TDK1001). This product is bio-

degradable, eco-friendly, and deemed “safe” by the manufacturer.
