PLANS FOR ENROLLING ONLINE

U3A Campbelltown Inc. is currently considering a system which would allow members to log in from home, using their membership number and a password, enrol in classes, send apologies etc. It would exist alongside our current system, so you could still have the Office volunteers do it for you. Planning is in early days, but we may be able to start with this in 2020. WATCH THIS SPACE

If you login every time you take a lesson, then the system will keep records of what you have done. Ask at the Office if you would like some help.

Top Left: Thanks to Ros Reddaway for organising a very interesting and informative lecture tour of the St John Ambulance Museum, which was followed by a delicious lunch on Friday 21 June. Top Right: Third prize winners at the Arena Club annual quiz and games night held in June at the Tranmere parish hall were the team from U3A Campbelltown. Well done! A fun night was had by all. Bottom Left: What better way to practise your language skills than to order your food and drinks in a cosy environment on a winter’s day? That’s what members of Marie’s French for Travellers class did at Bistro France at Burnside on Wednesday 10 July to celebrate Bastille Day which occurred on the following Sunday. We enjoyed a delicious two course meal. Vive la France! Bottom Right: During the term holidays on Tuesday 9 July some members of Marie’s Italian for Beginners class enjoyed a delightful morning tea at Mercato, where they practised placing their orders in Italian. They all communicated admirably. In June this year, the Photo Shoots group went to Waterfall Gully and took some amazing photographs. Check these out

at https://camshootu3asa.blogspot.com/, the blog of Campbelltown U3A Photoshoot Group.

Charity Yum Cha Lunch (below)

U3A members participated in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in support of the Cancer Council by attending a charity Yum Cha lunch at the Empress Restaurant on Greenhill Road on Saturday 24 August. 150 people sampled the delicious courses that ranged from dumplings, to noodles, fried rice, seafood, pork, chicken, beef, tofu, greens and ended with a refreshing coconut jelly. It was a very successful fund-raiser for a worthy cause.

SA Metropolitan Fire Service Outing (below) A visit to the SA Metropolitan Fire Service headquarters in Wakefield Street proved exciting and eventful when there was a call out to a fire at Stepney on Friday morning 23 August. We saw how a fireman descends the two storey pole, the equipment carried in the various fire appliances, how a fireman dresses in full gear to fight a fire, and much more. A highlight of the tour was having our photo taken with Matt in fire-fighting gear and Ben who explained everything and answered our many questions. He was ably assisted by Tony who has also been with the force for many years. A noisy lunch followed at the Wakefield Hotel.

Backgammon with TTG U3A (above) – a group of 7 of us joined TTG on a Thursday afternoon for some competitive backgammon. Backgammon is held in the front room of the Marchant Centre on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesdays 10-12
