‘GIRLS CAN CODE’ PROJECT

In our efforts to achieve gender parity though girls’ empowerment and access to educational innovations, HACSA initiated the ‘Girls Can Code’ Project in Ghana, and supported the implementation of the first phase across five schools in the country, in collaboration with UNESCO, GES, AITI-KACE, DreamOval Foundation, and Soronko Foundation. We are now actively working to raise funds to support the second phase and develop a programme to educate the girls on the importance of heritage and culture to self-identity and socio-economic progress.

THE HACSA OUTREACH AND TRAINING PROJECT

This project seeks to organise activities and works hops to introduce children and adults from all nationalities and all walks of life to various aspects of African Heritage and Culture. This will be done in partnership with schools and as an after school/work or holiday activity. These workshops will provide an insight into new opportunities for employment, careers, hobbies and pastimes by familiarising participants with African history, languages, music, dance, folklore and crafts. Such activities furnish participants with the tools t o understand the richness of African heritage and culture in a global context.

THE HACSA SLAVE ROUTE PROJECT

We are partnering with educational institutions and experts to identify, record, and label the sites and routes which are historically associated with the enslavement of African people in Ghana. This is part of the efforts to preserve, educate and train communities and tourists on the tangible heritage in our country. This project will also provide an opportunity to train tour guides who understand the significance of these Sites.

RICHTER FORT RESTORATION MUSEUM PROJECT

Richter Fort is a privately owned fort built by Heinrich and Christian Richter, the African children of a Danish governor, in 1809. It was a major site of captivity for enslaved Africans, with close links with the Christiansborg Castle in Osu, Accra. Our project collaborates with the Richter Family and seeks to restore the Fort, and, in collaboration with colleagues and scholars in the field of Archaeology and Anthropology, convert it into a museum to house the tangible and intangible heritage of Danish and other European presence in Ghana. The museum will be a hub to host family history records and memorabilia.

The French Nigerian soprano Omo Bello studied at the Conservatoire de Paris – CNSMDP. She holds a diploma in singing performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London (ABRSM) and has gained enormously from the musical and technical counsels of Jorge Chaminé, Teresa Berganza, Thomas Quasthoff and Grace Bumbry. In 2014, Omo Bello was nominated for the “Victoires de la musique classique” awards in the "Lyrical Revelation of the Year" category (the “French Grammy’s”), and she triumphed at the Paris International Opera Competition, winning the 1st prize, the French opera prize and the Public prize. She has also been awarded Italy’s prestigious international Arca d’Oro prize; and the 1st Prize in the Luciano Pavarotti Giovani 2010 competition (thus lauded by the Italian press critic Gianni Gori as «a talent of Gold! »).
