Critique Likes

Discussion questions are included to encourage future conversations on race relations

Writing style is personal and detailed I could relate to some of her personal

stories, especially Chapter 3: The Early Years “Is my skin brown because I drink chocolate milk?”

Dislikes Focuses mainly on Black-White issues

There is a need for deeper discussions (more than one chapter) on other diverse groups

Recommendations Dr. Tatum writes a great

book that I highly recommend all educators and parents read as a tool for dealing with race relations

She includes discussion topics and other resources that readers can use to assist in active engagement of this important topic
