How effective is the combination of your main

product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advertisement)?

To create a successful music video, there has to be a clear visual link

between the products; music video (the main product) and the ancillary product

(digipak and advertisement), also for the audience to have a visual

understanding of the artist. The main intention of producing a music video

and an ancillary product is to promote the artist and his music to the

audience.

For the front cover of my digipak, I decided to use a close up of my artist leaning against a white plain background. The purpose of this is that if I used a busy background, most of the attention would be aimed at what is going on behind the artist, therefore by creating a simple background the image of the artist stands out clearly enough to be promoted.

Also the appearance of artist and the costume he is wearing is casual and instantly links to the music video.

In the music video we see the artist with his guitar. The guitar is a main prop to the artist which makes him unique and is an idea from the original artist (Ed Sheeran).

This is a much more clear visual link, unlike my front cover. The top handle of his guitar was used on the right panel, as well as on the left, but the artist is walking away with the guitar, which was shot outside. using the outdoor location

emphasises the artists image, because this tells the audience that this artist has a lot to say about his music and is visually linked to the music video as well, which was produced outside, with similar background loacations.

Same background as one of the base tracks. Also in the

music video, the backgrounds blurred out, however on my advertisement its in focus,

which shows that this type of shot will appear somewhere in the music video. So audience

should look out for it. Moreover when the audience is watching the music video

and when they see this advertisement they will

immediately know who this artist would be.
