Manufacturers want to address the particular needs of multiple markets, yet maintain a large percentage of
common parts. Well-structured BOMs facilitate the ability to source parts around the world to make
production of product variants more efficient for different markets.
Reuse of product designs for new product families
Manufacturers create few products that do not reuse aspects of existing designs.
Therefore, well-structured BOMs facilitate reuse of previous design content.Faster introduction of new products
The well-orchestrated conversion of completed product designs to physical
products means a greater window of opportunity for sales. A rapid ramp-up of
production requires efficient conversion of designs into manufacturing BOMs that
can be used to reliably order parts, ingredients and materials.
