All ENOVIA V5.9 DMU Configurations can add thefunctionality of “Photo Studio Optimizer 2” as a Sharedor Added product. Refer to the individual productdescriptions below for details on Photo Studio Optimizer2.

Photo Studio Optimizer 2 (5691-PSO, 5693-PSO): PhotoStudio Optimizer 2 (PSO) is an essential complement toPhoto Studio 2 (PHS) for users who want to create lifelikeimages and movies. Photo Studio Optimizer 2 uses suchadvanced technologies as global illumination and causticsto extend Photo Studio 2 (PHS) product′s renderingcapabilities. With the product′s 3D texture and bumpmapping capabilities, the user can see how a finishedproduct will look while still in the early stages of itsdevelopment cycle.

The ultimate product for bringing your digital mock-upsto life: The most significant contribution to collaborationin product development in the past ten years has beendigital mock-up (DMU). DMU provides an immersiveenvironment in which all participants in a product′s lifecycle can interact with each other. Photo StudioOptimizer 2 brings to this environment its powerfulfunctions for creating lifelike images and movies. TheOptimizer projects reviewers into the future to validatethe product in its final form, significantly reducing theoverall product development cycle.

Advanced material definition to match reality: PhotoStudio Optimizer 2 offers powerful tools to enhance thesensation that you are looking at a real object.

• 3D texturing defines a color for each point in 3D space. The part looks like it has been carved from a singleblock of material.

• Bump mapping introduces apparent surface deviationsfrom the original shape to give the illusion that thegeometry is deformed. Examples are pleated leather, rough metal, and waves on the sea.

Rendering quality far beyond graphic card capabilities:Photo Studio Optimizer 2 delivers high-level functions thatimprove visual rendering quality.

• Global illumination produces better realistic renderingby taking into account all forms of light transport:diffuse, glossy, and specular. All parts of the mock-upare included in the illumination of the scene.

• Caustics — When light hits a reflective or refractivesurface, it is reflected or transmitted and forms lightpatterns on other objects. An example would be a lensfocusing light on a table.

Technical Information

Hardware Requ irements: The following requirements arecommon to all operating systems supported byENOVIA — DMU Products V5. System unit and graphicrequirements are platform-specific.

ENOVIA DMU Required Components and Features

• Disk drive: an internal or external disk drive isrequired (minimum recommended size 2 GB) to storeprogram executables (installation of all ENOVIA-DMUProducts requires about 600 MB on Windows ,800 MB on AIX , HP-UX, or IRIX, 700 MB on Solaris),program data, usage environment, and paging space.

• Memory: 256 MB of RAM is the minimumrecommended amount of memory for all applications.512 MB of RAM is recommended for ENOVIA — DMUNavigator applications on large assemblies.Requirements may be greater when a large amountof data is used.

• Internal/external drives: CD-ROM drive is required forprogram installation and access to the onlinedocumentation, which can optionally be downloaded todisk.

• Display: A graphic color display, compatible withselected platform-specific graphic adapter. The

minimum recommended size for usability reasons is17 inches; 800 x 600 and 1280 x 1024 for UNIXworkstations. When selecting a graphic adapter, hardware texturing capability is stronglyrecommended when using ENOVIA — DMU ProductsV5 that use texture mapping, in which case the amountof RAM has to be adequate for the number andcomplexity of textures to be used.

• Keyboard: a specific keyboard compatible withselected installation locale may be required fornational language support.

• Pointing device: three-button mouse. On Windowsworkstations, a two-button mouse may alternativelybe used (the third button is emulated with a keyboardsequence). The three-button mouse is recommendedfor usability reasons. IntelliMouse (two buttons pluswheel) is an alternative to the three-button mouse onWindows workstations, the wheel acting as the middlebutton and allowing additional manipulations such aspanning and scrolling.

• Optional components and features: A SpaceBall or aSpaceMouse can be used in addition to the standardmouse to perform graphic manipulations (zoom, pan, rotate). The required drivers are delivered with thesedevices. DMU Fitting Simulator 2 (FIT) supports theSpaceball. The SpaceBall and the SpaceMouse aresupported on both P1 and P2. While in P1, they enablegraphic manipulations (in examine or fly modes), in P2they also make it possible to move objects (parttrajectories in DMU Fitting for example).

The robustness of the overall solution is dependent on therobustness of the operating system and the hardwareenvironment used. Windows NT and UNIX hardwareconfigurations certified by Dassault Systemes for runningENOVIA — DMU Products are published at:

http://www.ibm.com/solutions/plm

Although ENOVIA — DMU Products might run on otherconfigurations or other graphic adapters, incidentsspecific to these configurations or adapters would not beaccepted for support.

General Rules for Memory Requirements: The memoryrequirement depends on the number of simultaneousENOVIA 3d com sessions; customers have to dimensionthe server system accordingly.

The server dimensioning needs to take into account thememory used by the CAD/CAM process on the server.

-7- 202-138

Page 12: ENOVIA Portal Solutions V5.9 Enhancements in ENOVIA …

For CATIA V5

• ENOVIA 3d com consumes 50 MB for the first sessionplus 10 MB for each additional session for an average1 MB model.

• The RAM requirement formula is the following: 50 MB+ n*10 MB+n*m MB, where n is the number ofmaximum concurrent sessions and m the average sizeof the CATIA models. Note that if several models areselected in one session, only one model remainsloaded at the same time, thus optimizing the memoryconsumption. As an example, for 10 concurrent usersmanipulating 10 MB average-size models, theminimum RAM requirement is 256 MB.

• For better response time, a graphics card can beinstalled on the server and shared in a sequentialmode between the simultaneous sessions to improve3D rendering, customers must dimension the graphicscard accordingly.

For CATIA V4

• As a rule of thumb, ENOVIA 3d com Navigator Productconsumes 40 MB for the first session plus 15 MB foreach additional session for an average 1 MB model.

• The RAM requirement formula is the following: 40 MB+ n* 15 MB + n*m MB, where n is the number ofmaximum concurrent sessions and m the average sizeof the CATIA models. Note that if several models areselected in one session, only one model remainsloaded at the same time, thus optimizing the memoryconsumption. As an example, for 10 concurrent usersmanipulating 10 MB average-size models, theminimum RAM requirement is 290 MB.

• For better response time, a graphics card can beinstalled on the server and shared in a sequentialmode between the simultaneous sessions to improve3D rendering, customers must dimension the graphicscard accordingly.

Note: LUM 4.6.2 is the minimum level needed to installcorrectly onto Windows 2000 Server. For Windows 2000Professional, LUM 4.6.0 will install correctly.

Optional Server Requirements — Server Side

For CATIA V5

• CATIA V5 server code is provided on the 3d comCD-ROM and installed by default. In order to use 3dcom in conjunction with CATIA V5 you must install 3d

com with the N3G (3d com Navigator) or with C3V(ENOVIA 3d com CAD Viewing) configuration.

• Note. The ENOVIA 3d com Navigator and CAD Viewingconfigurations includes a V5 server supporting readingand visualizing CATIA 3D data created at any level upto and including CATIA V5.9 and CATIA V4.2.4.1.

For CATIA V4

• For ENOVIA 3d com installations that will use CATIAV4, CATIA V4.2.4.1 is required. It must be compatiblewith the CATIA V4.2.4.1 prerequisites. Refer to theCATIA V4 Installation Guide for the complete list ofsystem prerequisites or refer to:

http://www.ibm.com/solutions/plm/

• With V5.9, the V5 server covers the scope of thefunctions available with the V4 server nearlycompletely. The main remaining scenario requiringthe V4 server is the use of hyperlink defined on CATIAV4 documents. In addition, the V5 server uniquelyoffers a set of functions not available with the V4server. The V4 server is also still needed forcustomers using CDM to access CATIA models storedin CDM.

• CATIA V4.2.4.1 is installed with the following:

− CATIA.Object Manager (COMS410) required

− CATIA.Data Management — Access Product(CDAS410) optional

− CATIA.Data management — Run Time Product(CDRS410) optional

Note: CATIA V4 and CATIA V5 servers can be runtogether.

ENOVIA V5.9 MultiCAx Plug-ins must be installed on theserver side when MultiCAD support is required.(ProEngineer, Unigraphics, and IDEAS).

ENOVIAVPM (for installation using ENOVIA — MultiPDMCDM/VPM Plug-in) requires ENOVIAVPM 1.5.

Planning Information

Customer Responsibilities

ENOVIA 3d com Products AND MultiPDM Plug-in ProductsLicensing: To provide customers with additionalflexibility, all ENOVIA Portal Solutions are concurrent-userlicensed in a manner similar to license use in CATIA V5.The License Keys of Portal 3d com configurations andshareable products are installed on the server and canbe accessed by thin clients (no code is installed onclients). A license for one user gives one connection line.Any offline user is required to have a 3d com licenseaccess with which code can be downloaded. Code shouldnot be duplicated from a previous download.

When accessing other systems via ENOVIA 3d comProducts it is usually necessary to have a license orrequired authorization on that system. For example, towork with data in ENOVIAVPM, ENOVIAPM, or Optegra, alicense for the corresponding user role within thosesystems is needed. The ENOVIA 3D com Navigator andCAD Viewing configurations can have an optionalcorequisite loaded on the server for CAD access. ForCATIA V5, the required CAD server is included andinstalled by default. When used in conjunction with CATIAV4 it is necessary to install CATIA COM licenses on theserver. One License of CATIA V4 COM authorizes tensimultaneous connections. The ENOVIA 3d com SpaceAnalysis product has an optional corequisite of the

202-138 -12-

Page 17: ENOVIA Portal Solutions V5.9 Enhancements in ENOVIA …

corresponding CATIA Space Product (5691-SPA) forCATIA V4 (with the same 1/10 ratio of users per license). If data such as CAD models are to be loaded into theauthoring system such as CATIA V5, the correspondingproduct configuration and license must be available.

The ENOVIA 3d com Web Search (part of 3d comNavigator product) function can be installed on otherCPUs besides the Portal Server to which an authorizeduser connects. The user task will use the Search functionto go through its ENOVIA 3d com Web Browser for thecorrect connection. Because of this capability the Searchfunction is restricted to users defined on the 3d comserver. This restriction applies even if the Searchcomponent is physically installed on a CPU other than 3dcom Navigator server.

ENOVIA DMU Products Licensing Principles: ENOVIADMU Navigator Configuration licenses continue asalready announced and in use within the ENOVIAPortfolio. Working under the CATIA V5 concurrent-userlicensing scheme, ENOVIA DMU products use the samemethods. This provides a consistent user seatdesignation across both CATIA V5 and ENOVIA PortalSolutions V5. ENOVIA DMU Products such as KinematicSimulation or DMU Optimizer, licensed as shareable inCATIA V5 will now also work and can be shared within theENOVIA DMU environment.

PORTAL MultiCAx Plug-In Licensing Principles: AllMultiCAx Plug-ins are licensed as concurrent-usershareable products available to ENOVIA 3d com, CADViewing, and Portal DMU users (they do not work inconjunction with Effects Management Configuration). When your profile takes a MultiCAx license, this entitlesyou to use the MultiCAx capabilities on the sameworkstation within any simultaneous sessions you areauthorized for (ENOVIA 3d com Products, CAD Viewing,or ENOVIA DMU Products).

AllENOVIA DMU and ENOVIA 3d com products are built oncustom configurations. To provide a unique serial foreach custom configuration, an install record has to becreated for each unique custom configuration. Thenumber is assigned automatically by the IBM orderingsystems each time the output from the configuratorsystem is loaded into the IBM ordering system. The SWserial number becomes part of the permanent CustomerRecord Number.

Additional ENOVIA Portal Solutions products can beadded to an already established SW serial numberthrough an MES order. Use of the MES procedure withthe IBM configurators requires that the orderingrepresentative first load the configurator with thecomplete list of unique SW serial numbers for the uniquecustomer number ordering the MES.

on top of a previous Service Pack. No individualcorrections will be delivered between two Service Packs. No update of online documentation will be providedthrough Service Packs.

Customers may request a correction via a Service Packfor Severity 1 problems. A Severity 1 problem is definedas:

• A problem stopping production — this means thecustomer is already using the level for which herequests a fix in a production environment.

• A problem preventing migration — in this case, thecustomer must provide the migration plan.

• A problem halting testing of a given level — in thiscase, a fix will allow the customer to continue thetesting.

• Installation problem — a problem which prevents thecustomer from installing or using the product.

• Regression — problems reported as regressions maybe due to an operation which was being performederroneously or created incorrect data with a previousrelease and the current release no longer permitsthese operations. Therefore, each problem reportedas a regression must be evaluated, and trueregressions will be handled as Severity 1 problems.
