The median age of India in 2011 was a young 24 years, with the median age ranging from 19 years in Meghalaya, 20 in Bihar and UP to 31 years in Kerala. However, there is a mismatch between young population and education infrastructure . The density of higher education institution is in the western & southern states, whereas the demographic advantage is in the North, East and North East states

UGC Regulations for Mandatory Accreditation of universities and colleges.

National Accreditation Regulatory Authority (NARA) Bill pending in the Lok Sabha.

Meanwhile, UGC is creating body similar to NARA within it.
