Dear Preschool Parents, Welcome to Virtual Xtreme Week! We are so glad that your preschooler (3K or 4K) has joined us for this week. We hope that this is a great week for your family as your child learns about how to have a rock-solid foundation built on Jesus, a foundation that will last. Our theme this year is Concrete & Cranes, so grab your hard hats and tool belts as we begin building this week. We put this preschool booklet together to help you have the best Virtual Xtreme Week possible with your preschooler. There is a page for each day that lists the Bible story for the day, the main point for the day (these are our foundational truths for each day), and several activities and a craft for each day. We have also provided a snack ideas page if you want to add some fun, themed snacks to the week. There are recreation ideas for each day, and we provide instruction and demonstration for those in our daily video. During the week of July 13-17, two new preschool videos will be added to the preschool section at ingleside.org/xtreme each morning. The preschool worship rally video should be viewed first and includes music, our theme Bible verse, our motto, and an introduction to what preschoolers will be learning about that day. The Bible story video should be viewed next. Then, add on as many of the daily activities and snacks as you would like to help your preschooler really understand the foundational truth for that day. Our Missions emphasis this year is to Love Your Neighbor. We talk about this each day in our preschool worship rally video and encourage families to think of different ways to get out and show their neighbors the love of Jesus. Finally, we will have a drawing each morning (Tuesday-Saturday) during the week of Virtual Xtreme Week, for a Tool Box Prize Pack. We provide more details in the daily videos but if you send a picture or video of your child watching one of the videos, doing one of the daily activities, saying the Bible verse, or showing love to your neighbors to the Ingleside Preschool Ministry Facebook page or to [email protected], your child’s name will be entered into the drawing for the next day. Enter every day for a chance to win one of the Tool Box Prize Packs! We pray that this is an amazing week for your child and your entire family! In His Service,

Ginny Fillingim Preschool Minister

DAY 5Bible Story: The House on the Rock.

Matthew 7:24-29

Bible Verse: I know that God started a

good work in me and He will complete it.

Philippians 1:6

Today’s Point: Jesus helps me know how to live.

Activities:

Shape a BuildingSupplies: White, gray, blue, brown, and black construction paper (provided), glue stick (provided)• Before your child begins, cut the gray sheet into several rocks; cut the brown and black sheets into rectangles, squares, and triangles for the buildings; and cut the blue sheet into squares for windows. The white sheet is for the background.• Place the pieces on the table, and let your child move them around to form a house or building.• Once they like their building, assist them with gluing the pieces into place.• Add to the area around the house by drawing grass, trees, and clouds.

Match PicturesSupplies: Color copy of “Pictures of Buildings”• Cut the pictures apart, and mix the pictures and lay them on the table in random order.• Invite your child to try to find matching buildings by turning two pieces of paper over. recreation• Gather different colors of sidewalk chalk.• Draw a long squiggly line outside. Along the line, draw Xs, Os, and hearts.• Explain that each symbol requires the child to perform a different action: X - jump up and down twice; O - spin in a circle; and a heart shape – say Today’s Point, “Jesus chooses to love me.”• After doing this several times, give your child a piece of chalk to make his own maze with Xs, Os, and heart shapes.

day 1: Chalk Maze

• Gather some tape, several toy vehicles, and a box of several building blocks.• Tape a “Start” line, and then create a path of your choosing with some zigzags, curves, and straight paths. Add the box of blocks at the end of the course.• Show your child how to drive their vehicle down the path along the tape. At the end, build a structure with the blocks, and knock it down with their car.• Continue as long as there is interest.

day 2: Const ruction zone

• Find anything in your house that you can use to build a tower (solo cups, empty cans, etc.). Also, make a bean bag out of an old sock filled with rice or beans. Long socks work best so you can tie a knot in the end. You could also use a soft ball.• On a flat surface, stacks the items to build a tower.• Use tape to make a “Start” line.• Show your child how to toss the bean bag or ball to knock over the tower.• Prompt your child to mention a prayer request before their next toss. Keep track of them, and pray when you are done playing.

Day 3: Knock Down/Pick Up

• Gather four or five buckets, pots, etc., and a ping pong ball or bean bag.• Place the buckets on the ground in a line.• Make a “Start” line 1-2 feet away from the first bucket.• Invite your child to stand behind the “Start” line and throw the ball into the bucket closest to them.• If it lands in the first bucket, encourage them to keep trying with the next bucket, and so on.• When a ball lands in a bucket, ask your child to tell something he remembers about the Bible.

Day 4: Toss and Tell

Page 10: PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM · 2020-07-06 · • Rubble: Vanilla yogurt with granola on top • Dirt: Chocolate pudding cup with crushed Oreos on top • Gold Coins: Ritz crackers with

recreation• Gather various kinds of blocks or building toys from around your house.• Provide different types of foundations/bases for building. Foundations may include a pillow (to represent sand), a container of rocks, play-dough, or the floor.• Have your child try to build a building on each foundation. Talk about which was easiest.• Remind them about the lesson Jesus taught about a house on a rock. Also, remind them that Jesus is our strong foundation!

day 5: Tall Tower

Keep it Level:• Gather plastic shovels (or a large spoon), and a small ball.• Hand your child the shovel with the ball on top of the scoop. Encourage them to walk a path around your home, and try to balance the ball on the scoop.

Splat!:• Fill the bottom of a large pan with o-shaped cereal. Provide plastic hammers (or a real one with adult supervision) and let them hammer the cereal.

Paint with Water:• Provide large, sturdy paintbrushes (like an adult would use) and buckets of water.• Let your child “paint” the outside walls of your house.
