Fine arts studies are highlighted by drama and music programs. The Etowah County Strings Program is designed for elementary and middle school students to foster and encourage an appreciation of music. The Strings Program is offered through an Alabama State Council on the Arts curriculum-based project grant.

Each year, Etowah County produces drama productions in which students are cast from Etowah County Schools.

Marching and concert bands, as well as choral groups, are the pride of Etowah County Schools. Various visual art programs are provided to students to explore and promote their artistic talents.

STUDENT TECHNOLOGY:

Changing the Education LandscapeThe Etowah County Schools Technology Department maintains and manages a fiber optic LAN 130mpbs backbone supporting over 8000 devices through all district schools. Continuing our mission of providing the best in technology resources for our students, we completed the implementation of a district wide wireless guest network for student use. This infrastructure upgrade was the first step in implementing a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) or any 1:1 initiative. Students in Etowah County Schools are the first in the area to bring their personal devices to school and access the internet via a CIPA Safety compliant wireless network. Additionally, Etowah County Schools currently utilize iPads, tablets, netbooks, laptop computers, Nook Color and Kindle Fire e-readers, and other various technology devices in our classrooms.

Over 80% of our classrooms are equipped with Promethean 21st Century Classroom technology. Our ACCESS Distance Learning classrooms recently received over $100,000 in new technology

including computers, laptops, projectors, and interactive whiteboards. Our students participate in both local and state-level technology fairs and consistently win high awards for their projects. Etowah County teachers have presented sessions at local, state and national events such as the Alabama Technology Association

Conferences and the International Society of Technology Educators. The Etowah County Schools Technology Department is proud to partner with our neighboring school systems to sponsor our 1st Edcamp CONNECT one-day technology symposium in July 2014.
